Chapter song: Be My Baby - The Ronettes
A loud screech cut through the field as Kenneth rolled to the side, landing with one knee to the ground and one foot planted flatly on the sharp blades of grass.
His eyes were fixed on the towering creature in front of him. He cocked his rifle, aiming and shooting it square in the chest.
But this thing was fast despite its size. It flicked its thick tail, swatting the bullet like it was a fly getting in its way. As it moved, Fae lunged forward, thrusting her spear at one of its blind spots. She managed to piercing its skin, resulting in yet another shriek.
The creature recoiled, thrashing its tail as Fae withdrew her spear and leapt backward. Kenneth watched her land several feet away before shifting his attention to the beast, whose hide had begun to ripple beneath its thick, armour-like plates.
"Lennon!" he shouted.
"Already on it!"
