Chapter song: Exit Music - Radiohead
Kenneth hated war, but he liked the act of fighting in one. It was a strange thing to admit, but it was the truth.
It was unclear whether it was the viciousness of war itself that fascinated him, or the beauty and art that came with devising stratagems that could lead even the smartest men to spiral into a doom of existential despair. Perhaps it was the satisfaction one got at killing hundreds of lives so that you could save millions that spoke to him, or better yet, the thrill of putting one's life into danger, feeling the sweet delicious burn of your lungs straining and muscles aching as you ran headfirst into danger.
It was unclear which aspect of war itself that tickled that strange place in his heart.
But Kenneth knew it wouldn't be going away anytime soon. Once something that's been engraved in every fibre of your being becomes a constant, it's hard to let it go.
