A soft sound escapes my lips as I shift on the couch, still suspended in that fragile space between sleep and waking. The cushions are soft beneath my cheek, the fabric cool and familiar against my skin.
For a moment, I forget where I am—the weight of the day, the ache in my ankle, the mess of everything.
I forget everything. I'm just a body resting, breathing, existing.
Slowly, my eyes open.
The first thing I see is the glass wall—the city beyond it glowing beneath the night sky, thousands of golden lights stretching into the distance like fallen stars scattered across velvet. The sky is deep and endless.
I blink lazily, still half-caught in the warm haze of sleep. The world outside is quiet, distant, muffled by the thick glass separating me from the city below.
For a moment, I simply watch it—the lights, the distant movement, the silent hum of a world that keeps turning no matter how much I want it to stop.
