This was bad. Amanda wasn't sure if someone powerful was nearby, so she needed to take the elf and retreat.
Amanda held her hands up. "I know I look scary, but I only want to help you. Is there anything I could do that would make you believe me?"
The young elf had eyes full of tears, new ones forming. "Can you…bring my family back?"
She didn't dare turn to her parents in this moment. She had mental images of them already.
Seeing her heroes meet this kind of fate was a pill that was genuinely impossible to swallow, yet she was forced to. She crumpled to her knees trembling with sadness and fury she didn't know what to do with.
Amanda wasn't sure how to answer that. She had no right to dictate her choices either. Someone who she thought was family had turned out to be a snake, but what about having a family that loves you, only to have it snatched away by the most lowlife creatures on the planet?
She didn't know what that was like and she'd rather not make a mental image.
