Shota surged forward in a body flicker, the moment Erasure stripped the four Root shinobi of their chakra.
His right fist glowed with chakra as he used chakra augmentation He aimed straight for the closest Root shinobi.
The Root shinobi who could not use their chakra to defend themselves looked defenseless. Their hands froze mid-seal.
Shota expected the fight to end quickly. A single enhanced punch to the chest. A follow-up kunai to the throat. And then three more rapid strikes to be done with the rest of the root shinobi.
But that was where Shota was wrong.
The Root shinobi had come prepared for all of them having their chakra taken away from them at the same time too. And the hesistation seemed to be something to lure him near them and for him to lower his guard.
As if noticing something, Shota backed off with even more speed backwards. His instincts screamed danger.
A faint buzzing filled the air, low at first, then rising like a swarm of angry bees or well.....swarm of angry Aburame insects.
One of the Root shinobi's cloak had split open. Thousands of insects erupted from his body in a black cloud. Kikaichū. Aburame clan bugs.
'I expected to make short work of them but they seemed to have come prepared for me erasing all of their chakra and had found one clan shinobi that can pose me lot of trouble.'
Shota thought with a wry smile.
He looked at the Root shinobi with insects coming out of its body.
'I can erase chakra of all the insects in my vision but these insects still might carry some kind of poison and can survive without their wielder's chakra. And even then, the insects can just scatter to the sides. It would just take one bite from them to end it for me.' He analysed the situation.
And just like he expected, thousands of insects appeared out of one of the ANBU's body. They scattered immediately. Some flew high. Some dove low. Some changed directions mid-flight and began to surround Shota in a loose, buzzing sphere.
The Aburame had split his swarm deliberately. By doing this, the Root shinobi made sure that some of his insects could attack Shota from his vision's blind spots while still using chakra.
'Aburame are truly overpowered. How can someone fight thousands of well-bred insects and of different types? I think it's the weakness of various things. Like an Aburame vs an Uchiha. Let's see how precognition helps an Uchiha with his Sharingan activated dodge thousands of insects coming from all sides. Yamanaka? How are you going to enter someones mind and not get bitten by thousands of insects. Akimichi? Become big and become an even bigger target for insects.' Shota believed Aburame clan to be one of the strongest clan out there and one of the clans whose full potential and deadlines was not shown in the anime.
Shota used the binding cloth to even cover his face and let only his eyes remain without any cover. The white strips wrapped around his head like a hood. Only two eye holes remained. It formed a second skin. It would stop most bites.
He moved back as the Root ANBU decided to change tactics. He heard even one of the Root shinobi say in a flat, mechanical voice.
"Target seems to be able to erase multiple chakras at once. The previous report about him was inconclusive. Surround him from all sides to prevent him from using his dojutsu."
Shota thought, 'The cat is out of the bag.'
He looked at some of the insects that tried to get to him but the binding cloth easily stopped them. Tiny bodies bounced off the reinforced fabric.
Shota created three shadow clones. The three clones appeared in puffs of smoke. They engaged with three Root shinobi while Shota focused his eyes on one of the Root shinobi.
The Root ninja looked to be an Akimichi and had partially expanded his body when Shota's Erasure was not locked on him.
His arm swelled to the size of a tree trunk. His fist became a battering ram. He charged forward with surprising speed for his bulk.
Shota knew that after the Aburame he was the biggest threat so he used his Erasure on him while the other three Root ninja spread out to surround him in other directions to avoid his ability.
The Akimichi's chakra vanished mid-charge. His expansion halted. His massive arm shrank back to normal size. He stumbled, suddenly off-balance.
Shota quickly wielded hand signs to first deal with the insects. He continued to dodge back as they came after him again and again.
They could have targeted his eyes but considering Danzo wanted them, they were not doing anything to him.
Shota thought. 'I need to get myself some goggles made for my eyes.'
His hand signs completed. He used his jutsu.
'Fire Style: Fox Fire Jutsu!'
Nine small fireballs formed out of his mouth and surrounded him. Shota pointed them in some directions and they went in those directions and exploded, burning the majority of insects away.
Four fireballs were still left which he did not throw and let roam around. Any stray insect that came near him were burned. They acted as a barrier against them.
'That deals with the main problem. But my chakra reserves are already down to fifty percent and the fight is only starting.'
He had created three shadow clones already which took majority of his used chakra.
'Let's deal with the Aburame first completely.'
Shota thought as he focused his Erasure from the Akimichi to the Aburame.
The Akimichi felt his chakra return as he immediately attacked Shota as his arm became bigger.
Shota used his binding cloth to bind the Akimichi large arm.
The cloth wrapped tight. The Akimichi grunted. He flexed. The cloth stretched but did not break.
And then Shota cut the binding cloth.
The Akimichi looked at the symbols on the binding cloth that covered his arm.
Shota was pretty sure that the man had his eyes widened behind the mask. Those symbols were very common for shinobi because those Fuinjutsu symbols meant "Explode".
"You would do too, Akimichi."
Shota said with a cold voice as he muttered, deciding to end the Akimichi first.
"Katsu."
The explosive seal that had been imprinted on the cloth detonated.
The blast tore through the Akimichi's arm and travelled to the rest of his body. The man screamed which was cut off as the force threw him backward into a tree. He hit hard. The trunk splintered. He slid down and did not move again.
