Five Minutes later, the mountain forest trembled as the surging chakra pressure finally came under control. Far below the shattered hillside, students and teachers alike stared upward as dust and broken stone continued raining down through the trees.
The enormous skeletal construct looming over the mountain flickered between orange and white before slowly beginning to destabilize. Inside its ribcage, Yuta exhaled shakily as numerous thoughts crossed his mind. '... So this is the Susanoo.' Blood slid from the corners of his eyes as his head throbbed violently. '... It hurts way more than I expected.'
Feeling the sheer amount of chakra he had burned in the last several minutes having this thing forcibly kept on, Yuta had almost nothing to say. Now five minutes later, it had degraded from the stage three armoured version to the stage two skeleton and even keeping that now felt like trying to hold together a collapsing building with his bare hands. 'Here I was thinking I was catching up to Naruto.'
In the midst of his thoughts, the last of the Susanoo finally faded away as his quirk control returned. The gigantic arm above the mountain cracked apart into glowing fragments.
Then the entire construct dispersed into fading embers of light. BOOOOM. The resulting pressure wave rolled through the forest below as Yuta finally dropped to one knee atop the ruined hillside, heavy breaths escaping his lips.
The Sharingan disappeared. Simultaneously, the pain caused by the heavy burden was dulled by him.
For several seconds, nobody moved. The mountain remained deathly quiet outside the occasional sound of crumbling rock rolling down the slope. Then Aizawa landed atop the ruined hillside. His boots touched the fractured stone, his eyes had long since returned to normal. One arm still held Ragdoll securely against his side from their earlier retreat through the forest. His eyes scanned the area that had been somewhat demolished with furrowed brows. Trees had been uprooted entirely. Deep fractures spread through the earth for dozens of meters from pressure Yuta had unleashed moments earlier.
Aizawa's gaze shifted toward him. Blood remained visible beneath Yuta's eyes despite the strange orange coloration having faded completely. "…Can you stand?"
"…Yeah." Yuta replied while exhaling.
That wasn't entirely true though. His legs felt unusually heavy. But compared to the migraine hammering against the inside of his skull, standing barely registered. "I guess that must be what it was protecting me from."
Aizawa frowned at his words. "What exactly was that?"
Yuta was silent for a while. He had been racking his head for an explanation since this happened. The result was ... "…I have no idea."
His initial plan was simply to see how things would react without his quirk suppression in play. Hell, he even planned to use the transformation Jutsu to secretly make changes to his eyes to hide the Sharingan's appearance when he activated it if need be. The Mangekyo Sharingan and Susanoo appearance was completely out of his control.
Hence ... Yeah, like earlier, he couldn't come with anything to explain this mess that wouldn't seem suspicious. Hell, the current situation was suspicious enough as it was.
Ragdoll blinked, her comically large green eyes darting around the pulverized landscape before landing squarely on Yuta. She cautiously tapped Aizawa's shoulder to be let down, her usual high-octane energy completely missing, replaced by an expression of pure bewilderment.
"You… you really don't know?!" she said, tilting her head and pointing a cat-gloved finger at him. "But it came out of your face!"
Yuta exhaled, closing his eyes to block out the sharp glare of the afternoon sun. He pulled the collar of his shirt up to wipe away the drying blood beneath his eyes. "I really don't," he muttered, voice flat and thoroughly exhausted. "It just… happened."
Before Ragdoll could launch into another frantic round of colorful metaphors, the heavy crashing of bushes and frantic shouting echoed from the slope below. Within seconds, the clearing was flooded.
"Eraser! What happened up here?!" Vlad King bellowed, face grim. He was followed closely by Tiger, Pixie-Bob and several others.
Behind them, most of the students had already climbed partway up the ruined slope despite clearly being told not to. Midoriya stopped first upon seeing the state of the mountain properly.
"…Woah…" Kaminari looked between Yuta and the destruction with visible disbelief.
Bakugo said nothing. Which honestly would have stood out more than if he had yelled, but no one was paying close attention to his emotions at the moment.
"It's a training issue." Aizawa replied seeing both Class A and B gathered here. He turned to look at Yuta. "His quirk went out of control. Nothing more."
Everyone was stunned.
"Huh? Then what the hell was the giant skeleton thing we saw?" Kirishima asked.
"Yeah, my first thought was that the camp was under attack by villains or something," Kaminari added.
Eyes turned towards Yuta.
".." Feeling multiple eyes converge on him, Yuta was somewhat embarrassed.
"Um .. Yuta. There's bloodstains running along your eyes," Hagakure pointed out, stepping forward instinctively. "Are you okay?"
"Indeed. That much blood isn't normal," Iida said immediately, concern evident in his tone. "You should be examined at once."
Yuta instinctively raised a hand toward his face before stopping halfway. His fingers came back faintly red. "…I see. There's no need for that, I'm fine. ... "
Everyone exchanged glances.
"It doesn't look like it."
Yuta let out a shrug. "I'm fine. It was an accident. I just ... discovered there are aspects of my powers that seemingly need work. Plus I can regenerate ... So .. i just need a minute or two."
Aizawa frowned, just about to say something when an alert went off on his phone. He picked it up, took a look and let out a breath before turning back to everyone. "Alright, that's enough."
The underground hero closed his eyes, rubbing the bridge of his nose as he let out a heavy, thoroughly irritated sigh. He didn't know what the hell had just happened either, but as a teacher, his primary job was maintaining absolute control over a volatile situation.
"Everyone, back to training," Aizawa said, his voice leaving absolutely zero room for argument.
Several students blinked.
"Wait, seriously?" Kaminari uttered in protest.
However, "Yes," Aizawa turned to the Pussycats. "There's a bit of a situation. I might need your help, Pixie."
Pixie-Bob understood.
"The pussycats will designate a new zone for the upper-slope exercises once we get back. For now, get back to your respective training plans. We have something to take care of first." Aizawa gave a nudge of his head. "Ragdoll, Pixie-Bob, let's go." Then he turned to Yuta. "Akutami. Get some rest." His gaze lingered briefly on the dried blood beneath Yuta's eyes. "You're done for the day."
Yuta was somewhat stunned. "Sensei, is something wrong?"
Aizawa didn't answer right away. He tapped the screen of his phone, silencing the persistent vibration of a specialized perimeter alarm. "It's a sensor trip on the eastern boundary line."
"I can help," Yuta added, only to be shot down by a look.
"You just bled from your eyes minutes ago. I doubt you're currently at your best. Even if you were, there's no need to bring you. It's just an intruder. We can handle it," Aizawa said bluntly as he placed his phone back. "We'll talk about what happened later. Recovery Girl isn't here, so Mandalay will look you over for concussion symptoms. Ragdoll, please assist her just in case of anything she might not see."
He turned to the class, eyes landing on Momo. "Momo, create some bandages just in case and a towel to clean the blood off."
Momo nodded quickly. "Yes sir." Then proceeded to create.
"Pixie-Bob, you're with me. The rest of you, move," Aizawa ordered.
The definitive tone of a pro hero under pressure immediately broke the lingering curiosity of the students. Vlad King began herding the classes back down the dirt trail, his loud voice booming over the wind to drown out the remaining murmurs.
Finally, Momo finished creating the supplies and handed them over to Mandalay. "Here you are."
They certainly hadn't asked for an entire medical kit. Of course Mandalay wasn't going to complain. "Aye .. Thank you, Yaoyorozu-chan."
She turned to Yuta. "Here, let me help you wipe that off, it looks really painful."
"There's really no need." Yuta raised his head helplessly. "I'm not injured anymore. My regeneration practically fixed me up."
Just then, multiple alarms went off from Aizawa's phone. He quickly opened it, only to have his brows furrow at the next second. Multiple sensors had been triggered in a short period of time.
"What's the problem, Aizawa?" Pixie-Bob asked, seeing his features.
"It's the alarms. More are going off rather fast," he said solemnly. "It's closer to camp."
Mandalay's face changed drastically. "Villains? How is that possible? No one should know we're here."
Pixie-Bob was even more direct as she created several earth beasts. "Mandalay, prepare to send out a message. Eraser, how many are there?"
To trigger many sensors, it would mean multiple people appeared around the training campsite. Either that or ...
"One," Aizawa replied, cutting off their thoughts.
"Huh? What did you say?"
Meanwhile, Yuta, who was listening, suddenly sensed something and raised his head. "Um Sensei, you might wanna look up." He pointed uphill.
"Huh?" Aizawa turned, as did everyone else.
For a brief second, nobody understood what they were looking at. A second later, they saw it. Something was falling from high above the mountain forest.
Pixie-Bob's expression changed. "Incoming."
The figure tore through the treeline overhead before slamming into the upper mountainside. BOOOOOOM!
The impact blasted apart stone and trees alike. Dirt exploded outward in a massive wave as the shock rattled the entire slope beneath their feet. Several nearby students lower on the trail cried out in alarm as birds erupted from the forest canopy in enormous flocks.
"What just ..."
On the hill, Yuta narrowed his eyes. "…That's a person."
The dust cloud shifted violently. Then something burst out of it. A body skipped across the mountainside at absurd speed, bouncing through fractured stone before crashing directly through several cedar trunks. CRAAAAASH!
The figure finally rolled to a stop less than thirty meters away.
Silence. For several seconds, nobody moved. The air remained thick with the pungent scent of ozone, pulverized pine needles, and freshly turned earth.
Aizawa was the first to react, his capture scarf defying gravity as it unfurled from his shoulders. "Pixie-Bob, secure the perimeter. Mandalay, get on the radio to Vlad right now. Tell him the camp is in a code red."
"On it!" Mandalay's fingers flew to her temples, her telepathic Quirk already broadcasting a sharp, urgent warning directly into the minds of the retreating students and the remaining staff down below.
The dust cleared to reveal a man in a prison uniform, blood covering nearly half his body. One arm was bent incorrectly while deep tears ran across his back and shoulders like something enormous had clawed through him.
"Is that .."
Mandalay's heart chilled at the sight.
"…An escaped convict," Aizawa confirmed, a frown evident on his face. "Ragdoll?"
Her eyes already had the rainbow glow on. "He's still alive."
Ragdoll moved first, kneeling beside the injured convict as her Search continued scanning through his condition. Her expression gradually shifted from confusion to disbelief. "…His body's wrecked," she muttered quietly. "Multiple fractures. Severe blood loss. Muscle tearing everywhere. It's like he got hit by a train."
Her Search quirk picked apart the body's internal state. "Part of it seems to be the result of his own quirk, but he pushed it way past his legal limits."
The man twitched weakly at her words. Aizawa crouched beside him. "What happened to you?"
The convict's eyes barely focused. Fear flooded his face almost instantly the moment he looked at them. "…Don't…" His lips trembled violently. "…let it… find me…"
"What finds you?" Aizawa asked.
The convict found it difficult to respond.
Just then, Yuta, perplexed at what in the world was happening, suddenly lowered his head. "…Hm?"
Something brushed against his senses. Faint. So faint he almost ignored it entirely. A vibration. He almost dismissed it, if not for it happening yet again at a noticeably stronger rate. Yuta frowned slightly. Then it happened again.
THUM.
He crouched slightly, fingers touching the fractured stone beneath him. Chakra flowed quietly into the terrain below as his quirk simultaneously expanded outward through the mountain. Terrain Mapping.
In an instant, the underground structure of the mountain unfolded within his perception. Stone, roots, and water. In addition ...
Yuta's pupils shrank instantly. Something enormous was moving beneath them. Fast.
"Shit."
Aizawa's head snapped toward him immediately. "What ..."
BOOOOOOOOOOM!!!
An enormous section of the mountainside erupted upward in a violent detonation of rock and earth. Trees snapped apart instantly as gigantic clawed hands burst from beneath the surface.
Momo stumbled backward. Ragdoll froze completely.
Then the thing pulled itself free. Instantly, Mandalay's face paled. It was .... Massive. Towering over the surrounding forest itself. Wild brown hair hung around a monstrous face lined with jagged teeth and cataract-white eyes.
"My god ..."
The giant's gaze lowered slowly toward the wounded convict laying in the dirt. "…Found… you," it said in a rumbling voice.
Then its eyes shifted toward the others standing nearby.
Aizawa's eyes flashed red instantly. Erasure activated. The next moment, Machia's body stiffened as it felt its size begin decreasing.
"…MORE INSECTS!" The roar spread through the mountainside as its gigantic arm swung toward them with horrifying speed.
BOOM
