Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: Just for Fun, No Strings Attached

She was exhausted and hungry. After delivering the things to Stellan Sutton's room, she returned to her own room to shower.

After showering, she grabbed her phone, ready to order some takeout to fill her stomach, when suddenly an iMessage popped up.

"How have you been lately?"

A starry sky avatar, no nickname attached.

The previous message was the one she'd sent, asking who this was.

"What's with this person? Replies to a message only after days, and when he does it makes no sense..."

Eve Sherman muttered speechlessly, but still replied politely: May I ask who this is?

She waited for a bit, but the other person didn't reply again.

Feeling a little annoyed, she was about to block him on impulse.

But on second thought, her private number never added strangers, so could it actually be someone she knew?

Just messing with her?

Seriously, some people have too much free time.

She shook her head helplessly, closed the chat, and suddenly the doorbell to her room rang.

She got up to answer it and saw a server standing at the door with a food cart. "Hello, this is room service sent by President Sutton."

Eve Sherman let the server in, feeling a bit spaced out, and when she saw the steaming steak and red date porridge, she couldn't help but marvel at how observant Stellan Sutton was.

He even noticed she was hungry.

Someone so meticulous, and yet he supposedly doesn't know his wife's clothing size?

Does that make sense?

Could it be… he's still mad about that date last time? Doing this on purpose?

With that thought, Eve Sherman immediately lost her appetite.

She picked at her food, then flopped on the sofa and video-chatted with Zoe Sawyer and Wyatt Crawford.

"Eve, I have to complain—this Sawyer, always saying not to get close to men, but sneaks off to see one herself!"

Zoe Sawyer shoved Wyatt, "I already told you, it's just for fun, no responsibility and no strings attached!"

Wyatt got even louder, "So you only sleep with people without clarifying your relationship? Aren't you just a player? You—you better watch your health!"

"Like hell I'd sleep with them, don't talk nonsense!"

Watching them bicker, Eve Sherman sighed helplessly, "Sawyer, just be careful, I think Wyatt's not wrong either."

They kept joking around for a while. When Eve Sherman started to feel tired, she told them goodnight, did a quick wash-up, and went to bed.

Before sleeping, she glanced at her phone at the message from that stranger again. She still couldn't remember who it was, so she gave up trying.

The next morning she got up early, checked her luggage, and headed back to Ardane with Stellan Sutton.

Lucas was waiting outside the airport. "President Sutton, how was the business trip? Our Special Assistant Sherman's first time going out with you—did she do okay?"

Stellan Sutton nodded, "She did fine."

"I was worried since you can't drink, and whether Special Assistant Sherman could help you out at the table, but I guess everything went well?"

Hearing this, Eve Sherman's heart skipped a beat, and she glanced subconsciously at Stellan Sutton.

He can't drink—Joshua Crawford's notebook had this noted, but only for baijiu. Yesterday at the dinner it was all red wine, and when Stellan mentioned it, she excused herself and didn't give it more thought.

No wonder he'd looked so uncomfortable afterwards.

Stellan didn't say much else. Once in the car, he leaned back, closed his eyes, and rested. Seeing that he was napping, Lucas drove quietly without asking any more questions.

Stellan Sutton had the day off today. After dropping him off at his place, Eve Sherman finally breathed a long sigh of relief.

"Pretty wiped out, huh?" Lucas looked at her cheerfully. "Did you drink yesterday? President Sutton's been entertaining non-stop lately, so you'd better be ready!"

Eve Sherman didn't mention she hadn't had a drop of alcohol. She felt a bit uncomfortable inside.

While Stellan Sutton got to rest, she couldn't. She had to go back to the company to organize his schedule, and the moment she stepped into the office, she heard Liam Langdon in the secretary department sniping, "See, I wasn't wrong, right? Eve Sherman just got appointed and already gets to go on a solo business trip with President Sutton!"

He'd stressed the word "solo," implying something everyone understood.

Eve Sherman instinctively wanted to confront Liam, but Lucas stopped her.

"Don't worry, President Sutton will handle them if he finds out. It's not appropriate for you to argue with them right now. As Special Assistant, they're jealous of you—no matter what you do, they'll gossip."

Hearing this, Eve Sherman gritted her teeth and returned to the CEO's office amidst their passive-aggressive remarks.
