Chapter 130 - Chapter 23 – The Boy Who Finally Fought, Part4

Part 4 – A Silence That No Longer Shakes

The bell rang.

CLANG.

The entire arena shifted.

Students rushed to their seats.

Voices slowly settled into a tense anticipation.

The announcer stepped forward.

"Welcome… to the continuation of the Vanguard Tournament Semifinals!"

Cheers rose—but they carried clear bias.

The announcer raised a hand.

"Today's matches will determine the top performers—"

The board lit up.

Names appeared.

Ayame Inazuma vs Amaya Homura

Haruto Inazuma vs Arashi Homura

The crowd reacted instantly.

"Ayame!"

"Arashi!"

Their names echoed far louder.

Kaito frowned.

"…They're not even hiding it."

Ayame stayed calm.

Haruto said nothing.

Arashi stepped into the arena first.

Confident.

Unshaken.

He looked toward Haruto and smirked.

"Looks like I've got the whole crowd."

Haruto walked forward.

Step by step.

Calm.

Quiet.

"…Yeah."

No anger.

No frustration.

Just acceptance.

Ayame watched him carefully.

Something about him felt different.

Not louder.

Not stronger.

Just…

still.

The announcer's voice cut clean through the arena.

"First match of the semifinals…"

A brief pause.

"…Haruto Inazuma versus Arashi Homura."

The crowd didn't hesitate.

"ARASHI!"

"End it quick!"

"This won't even be a fight!"

The noise surged again—heavy, one-sided, overwhelming.

Arashi exhaled lightly, rolling his shoulders as if warming up for something trivial. The smirk never left his face.

"Guess I'm up first."

He stepped forward into the center of the arena, completely at ease.

Haruto followed.

No rush.

No change in pace.

Just the same steady steps.

The distance between them closed.

The instructor raised a hand.

"Take your positions."

Arashi stretched his neck slightly, eyes locked onto Haruto now.

"Don't blame the crowd," he said casually. "You just never gave them a reason to believe in you."

Haruto stopped in place.

Silence.

Then—

"…Maybe."

No denial.

No defense.

Arashi's smile widened just a little.

The arena lights sharpened.

Energy in the air tightened.

Even the crowd began to quiet down, sensing the shift.

The instructor's hand dropped.

"Begin."

For a split second—

Nothing moved.

Then Arashi vanished forward.

Fast.

Sharp.

A direct opening strike aimed straight at Haruto.

The crowd leaned in—

Expecting it to end immediately.

But Haruto moved.

Just a slight shift.

A minimal step.

The strike passed.

Barely.

A ripple went through the front rows.

"…He dodged?"

Arashi's eyes flickered—not surprised, but interested.

"Oh?"

He didn't stop.

A second strike came instantly—faster, heavier.

Haruto moved again.

Precise.

No wasted motion.

No panic.

Just enough.

Each movement… exact.

The crowd's noise began to fracture.

"…Wait."

"He's… keeping up?"

Arashi pulled back slightly, reassessing now.

The smirk didn't disappear.

But it changed.

From confidence…

To curiosity.

Haruto stood the same as before.

Breathing steady.

Eyes calm.

Still unreadable.

Like nothing had changed at all.

Arashi didn't slow down.

The moment Haruto dodged the second strike, a third came instantly—faster, sharper, aimed to corner him.

Haruto stepped back.

Then again.

And again.

Each movement was clean… but passive.

His gaze stayed low.

Not focused on Arashi's eyes.

Not even fully on the fight.

Almost like… he didn't want to be there.

The crowd picked up on it.

"What is he doing?"

"Why isn't he attacking?"

"Is he scared?"

Arashi pressed forward harder.

A flurry of strikes—punch, kick, pivot, sweep—

All controlled.

All dominant.

Haruto avoided them.

Barely.

Constantly retreating.

Never countering.

Arashi's eyes narrowed slightly.

…Yeah.

He knows.

Another strike flew—this time grazing Haruto's shoulder.

Not because Haruto couldn't dodge.

Because he didn't fully try.

Arashi clicked his tongue softly.

"Still doing this?"

No response.

Haruto shifted back again, gaze still lowered.

Like every step forward from Arashi pushed him further into something he didn't want.

For a split second—

Arashi's mind flashed back.

His mother's voice.

Calm.

Clear.

"You must make him fight."

"Dr. Ken is watching."

"If Haruto doesn't push himself… his condition won't improve."

"Do whatever it takes."

Arashi's expression hardened slightly.

So that's how it is.

Another dash—

This time faster than before.

He appeared right in front of Haruto and struck—

Haruto dodged again.

Late.

Too close.
