"Aren't you going to go after him?"
Noah's voice was slurred, his green eyes wide and completely blown out as he stared at the crowd where Nick had just disappeared.
He looked so genuinely distraught on my behalf that I almost wanted to laugh and pat his head.
"And why should I?" I asked, smoothing down the front of my mesh top.
Noah blinked, his brain clearly struggling to process the sentence through a thick cloud of tequila. "Because… he's your date, isn't he?"
"Well, not anymore," I said, offering him a bright, sweet smile. "You don't seriously think I'm going to stop having fun just because Nick decided he's had enough, do you?"
A slow, heavy realization settled over Noah's face. He looked at me, then looked back toward the exit, his shoulders dropping.
I could practically see the little gears turning in his head as he realized that I genuinely couldn't care less.
