The air around us seemed to drop twenty degrees in an instant. I opened my eyes and looked up.
Cassian was standing right beside me.
He didn't look disheveled a single bit. But his face, his face was completely devoid of any emotion whatsoever.
His blue eyes were pitch black, flat and empty, staring at the drunk guy like he was looking at something scraped off the bottom of his shoe.
The drunk guy blinked, startled by the sudden grip on his arm. He tried to pull his wrist back, but Cassian's fingers didn't move an inch.
He tightened his grip, and I heard a sickening, quiet crunch of muscle and bone being squeezed to its absolute limit.
The guy's face went pale. "What the… let go of me, man!"
Cassian didn't let go. He didn't even look at the guy. Still holding the man's arm frozen in the air, Cassian turned his head slowly to look down at me.
"Are you hurt?" Cassian asked. His voice was terrifyingly calm, smooth and quiet despite the thunderous roar of the band behind us.
