At noon, Xu Mengyao went to the company.

Lin Chen looked at the man, concluding that his identity was likely legitimate, or the authorities would have intercepted him.
"I'm sorry," Lin Chen said, shaking his head. "I have no interest in joining such institutions."
"Mr. Lin, the government would offer you immense support. Your annual research funding would be no less than one billion."
"You'd have access to the most cutting-edge theories and the most advanced equipment," the middle-aged man persuaded.
Lin Chen replied, "I can earn ten billion myself. As for cutting-edge theories... perhaps my future theories will be the ones that define the cutting edge."
"My main priority right now is raising my daughter."
"Mr. Lin," the man pressed, "if you join a top research institution, your daughter Lin Xiaoqian would undoubtedly receive the best education."
Lin Chen smiled. "What Qianqian needs now isn't the best education. She needs her father's love."
The man was about to speak again, but Lin Chen raised his hand to stop him. "Don't try to convince me. If our country were truly poor and backward, facing a life-or-death crisis, I would choose the nation over my family without hesitation. *Without the nation, there is no home.*"
"But our country isn't that dire. National security is secure. A slower pace of development doesn't matter."
"Qianqian can't wait. She grows up day by day."
The man fell silent for a moment before saying, "Mr. Lin, I was only instructed to inquire. I took it upon myself to persuade you further."

"The exterior will be wood, but the interior will be high-strength alloy. It will also have a hidden compartment for classified books and documents."
"I need to see your study."
Lin Chen led the man to his study.
"Mr. Lin, you're interested in aircraft manufacturing?" the man asked, his gaze sweeping across the room.
The shelves were filled with books on aircraft manufacturing.

He knew about the plane malfunction that time.

The middle-aged man asked.
"Remove it," Lin Chen said.
The man nodded. "We'll be performing special treatment on the entire room to ensure no one can eavesdrop on it."
"We'll also be replacing the door to this room and the main entrance."
Lin Chen: "Does all this really need to be done?"
The man nodded. "Mr. Lin, your security clearance is now SS-level. The security measures must be up to standard."

"Qianqian's awake," Lin Chen messaged Tianlang. "I'll take her out. You can come over then."
He carried Lin Xiaoqian to a shop outside the community. A dozen workers entered Lin Chen's home and immediately got to work, prying up the wooden floor.
First, they laid down bulletproof composite materials, followed by special soundproofing layers. The wallpaper was stripped from the walls, which were then treated with similar bulletproofing and soundproofing measures.
After several hours, Lin Chen and his daughter returned home. The study looked the same as before, but its security level had been drastically enhanced. The brand-new computer was now vastly superior to the old one.
When the windows and door are replaced, this study will essentially become a safe house, much safer to hide in if an attack occurs.
"Honey, did you get a new computer?" Xu Mengyao asked in surprise when she entered the study that evening.

Xu Mengyao nodded. She guessed that Lin Chen's security level had been elevated. She didn't ask for specifics.

Lin Chen shook his head. "I won't go. Just make sure it's managed well and that the funds are used effectively."
"Every child we help needs a file, and every expense must be traceable."
Xu Mengyao nodded.
Lin Chen smiled warmly at her. "Mengyao, we have something more important to discuss now."
"What is it?"
Xu Mengyao asked in confusion.
Lin Chen hugged her and said, "We're taking wedding photos. They're not ready right away."
"Where do you want to take them?"
