Chapter 55 - 55 The Devil's Servant

Inside the teachers' building, in Teacher Andrew's office

Teacher Andrew stood looking through the window at something in the distance, his expression grim.

*"The demonic energy has erupted. Who tampered with it?"*

He headed toward his desk, picked up his storage ring, then left his office.

While exiting the building, he encountered Teacher Logan, who also teaches the special class with Stephen, along with some teachers he knew. Everyone's expressions were serious as they moved quickly toward the outside of the building.

Logan approached Andrew and spoke in a tone carrying some respect and seriousness.

"Hello, Teacher Andrew. You also felt the demonic energy, didn't you? The students will be in danger, and the situation will require drawing on your power to minimize losses in these critical moments."

Andrew gave Teacher Logan a brief glance, then looked away and spoke.

"That is certain. Since I am a teacher here, the students' lives will be under my responsibility."

Andrew did not like Teacher Logan, as he always seemed to carry an analytical gaze toward him, and this was irritating to Andrew.

...

David, Nathan, and Ira stopped in front of the museum.

They tried to open the museum door, which had automatically locked after the demonic energy activated, but to no avail — the door did not open.

Ira clenched her fist tightly and spoke.

"It won't open. What do we do?"

David fell silent as he thought, then finally spoke.

"There are windows. Maybe we can enter through them."

Ira negated this, shaking her head.

"That is not possible."

David tilted his head and asked in confusion.

"Why?"

Ira explained.

"Since the protection mechanism is active and the doors have been locked, this also includes the windows, so it is not possible to enter through them."

David frowned and raised his hand to rub his temple.

"So what will we do?"

David had been in a very bad mood since seeing Agnes disappear before him. He felt a distress taking hold of his heart. He did not know the reason for this distress, and that troubled him even more.

He imagined what Agnes's frightened expressions would look like, having been kidnapped by the villains, and the aura around him grew darker.

"If we can't find a solution, we can make one ourselves."

David and Ira looked at the same time toward Nathan, who was advancing with lazy steps toward the wall, then turned around and leaned his back against it.

Confusion appeared on David's face and he asked.

"How do we make one?"

Nathan smiled a sideways smile, raised his right hand, and pointed his thumb toward the wall.

"Blow up the wall."

Ira widened her eyes, then raised her hand, placed it on her jaw, and thought.

"Yes. Since the protection mechanism relies only on the doors and windows, that makes the weakest point the wall, so it will be the easiest to demolish."

Comprehension appeared on David's face, then quickly he pulled out his spear from his storage ring and directed it toward the wall, right beside Nathan.

Nathan raised an eyebrow, looking at the spear directed just slightly toward his head, and asked with a mocking laugh.

"Hey, did you mistake me for the wall?"

A small smile settled on David's lips. He planted his feet firmly on the ground, gripped his spear tightly, then pulled it back slightly before thrusting it forward with force, producing a powerful sound as the spear pierced the air.

Amusement appeared in Nathan's eye as he watched the spear directed toward him. The wind caused by the spear was strong enough to send Nathan's hair flying backward.

Before the spear reached him, Nathan bent down and quickly crouched, avoiding the strike.

Dust spread around Ira, Nathan, and David. After the dust cleared, a large hole appeared in the wall behind Nathan.

David felt satisfied as he looked at the large opening his spear had created, but then he felt something thin gripping his feet.

"!!!"

Before David could comprehend what was happening, the thin threads tightened around his feet, causing them to snap together, then they were dragged forward, causing David to lose his balance and fall backward.

David stared with blank eyes at the clouds in the sky, then gritted his teeth in anger, quickly sat up, and looked at Nathan with eyes that wanted to kill.

Nathan laughed cheerfully.

"I won't let you be the only one joking. I'd hate to make you feel lonely."

Nathan's tone was so mocking that it set David ablaze with anger.

"You damned—"

Nathan tilted his head and smiled at David.

"What? Are you angry?"

"Hmm, maybe because my joke was lighter than yours?"

"Don't worry about that. Perhaps next time it will be on a higher level than your joke."

Ira watched their interaction in confusion, still unable to comprehend what was happening before her.

*"What are they doing?"*

Then she shook her head. Well, what did she expect from the crazy dog of the Anderson family and the arrogant, conceited one of the Fabian family.

But right now, the most important thing to Ira was finding Agnes and making sure she was safe. So Ira headed toward the hole in the wall and entered, cautiously looking inside.

After the two of them saw Ira enter, they also remembered the reason they had come here.

Nathan cut the threads connected to his hands, stood up, brushed the dust off himself, and also entered the museum.

David also cut the threads binding his feet, stood up, brushed off the dust, and followed them inside.

Inside, the museum was extremely dark, as the demonic energy had caused the electricity in the museum to fail.

The footsteps of the three were audible, as the museum was very quiet. If a small needle had fallen, it would have been possible to hear its sound.

David and Ira felt tense because of the terrifying silence, while Nathan showed not the slightest tension. Instead, he was walking leisurely and whistling tunes as if he were on a pleasant stroll.

Suddenly the three of them heard the sound of something scraping on the floor. The sound was very disturbing, especially in the museum that had now become silent.

The three stopped and looked toward the direction the sound had come from, but they could not see anything because of the darkness.

David was holding his spear and directing it toward the direction the sound had come from, while Ira was holding her sword, which she had drawn earlier, in a ready stance, focusing on the direction the sound had come from.

As the sharpness of the sound increased, tension filled the hearts of David and Ira.

Nathan calmly looked toward the sound, but suddenly the sound stopped.

The stopping of the sound caused the tension in the hearts of David and Ira to increase.

Suddenly something massive lunged toward them at great speed.

Nathan quickly moved several threads and fixed them in place before them.

Upon entering the museum, Nathan had created numerous threads and connected them to shelves, artifacts, or even walls, but had kept them slack so that he could move them whenever he wished. So if something sudden happened, he would quickly pull the threads.

"Ira — ice!"

Nathan commanded quickly.

Ira understood what Nathan meant, so she quickly swung her sword and created a wall of ice reinforcing Nathan's threads.

But even so, the large axe had cut through Nathan's threads and surpassed them toward the wall, also shattering the ice wall.

The only good thing was that the momentum of the large axe had decreased.

The three exploited the reduced speed and avoided the axe.

A student stood gripping the massive axe that had caused a crater in the floor. The student was wearing the academy uniform consisting of black trousers and a black sleeveless jacket. The only difference from Stephen's uniform was that the engravings were not golden but were blue in color.

In the academy, each academic year had a different engraving color, so it was possible to know which academic year a student was in simply by looking at the color of the engraving.

Ira looked at the student strangely, then spoke.

"You, senior student — we are not the villains."

After she finished saying this, an evil laugh from the other side surprised her. The laugh did not last long and stopped. The student raised the large axe once more and with a quick motion swung the axe toward Ira.

Ira quickly raised her sword and blocked the axe with it using her full strength, but the force of the axe was great, causing her to be pushed backward.

David quickly raised his spear and attacked the student's back, but the student left Ira and avoided the spear, then quickly swung the massive axe and attacked David, but David was pulled backward by Nathan's threads.

David breathed deeply, regaining his balance after Nathan's threads had pulled him backward.

He looked toward the student who had gripped his axe again and was slowly turning his head among them as if deciding which of them to strike first.

Nathan felt there was something abnormal about this student. Demonic energy was emanating from him with every strike he delivered.

Nathan spoke.

"He is a demonic servant."

David and Ira looked at the student in surprise.

Ira bit her lower lip.

"This is impossible.... How can a student at the academy...."

The student suddenly lunged toward Ira again. His speed was higher than the previous time.

Ira raised her sword, but this time she did not hold her ground. Instead she slid to the side and allowed the axe blade to pass close to her shoulder, then immediately released a wave of ice from the tip of her sword toward the student's leg.

The student's right leg froze up to the knee.

He stopped for one second.

It was only one second, then the ice broke.

Ira widened her eyes but quickly stepped back to avoid any sudden attack.

David seized that second and launched his spear like lightning toward the student's shoulder.

The spear pierced the shoulder.

But the student made no sound of pain.

He turned slowly toward David and looked at him as if feeling nothing from the pain.

David's jaw tightened.

*"He feels no pain?"*

The student raised his foot and kicked David forcefully away, causing David to be launched a great distance and crash into an artifact.

"Ugh!!"

David looked at the artifact he had crashed into and found it was a ring resembling a flower, in a red color.

Then suddenly, without any prior warning, David disappeared from his place.
