Chapter 237 - Chapter 236 The Truth Behind It All

Zhou Yi declined Susan's kind offer, telling her that he wanted to see London at night. So he wanted to walk instead of driving the red sports car back to Zhou Lan's Villa.

Susan couldn't stop a man's curiosity, much less the actions of a man who, under that guise, actually had other intentions. So she could only say things like 'be careful' and'stay safe', then watched Zhou Yi disappear into the darkness.

She could only do so much; to go further, she needed to work hard to achieve a closer position. But as things stood, neither of them had any intention of taking the next step. Susan was observing, while Zhou Yi wanted to refuse.

However, once a mistake begins, it's not so easy to end it. Zhou Yi wanted to end this mistake, but the unfolding reality was not within his control. No one knows what the future holds. He couldn't control this, so he could only watch the situation gallop out of control like a wild horse.

He gave up on making further efforts in this regard and instead focused his attention on what he should be concerned about: the mysterious gang conflict.

Regarding this news, Zhou Yi actually didn't believe it at all. Perhaps in the eyes of ordinary people, the underworld might possess great power. But in the eyes of people like him, so-called gangs were nothing more than a bunch of insignificant small fry.

They shouted and killed, but in reality, at most, they only intimidated those Civilians with little insight. People who truly understood the power levels of this World never took them seriously. Zhou Yi was such a person, so he knew very well that what was currently troubling the London police was definitely not a gang issue.

Because gangs couldn't be so blatant under the surveillance of the state apparatus. Nor could they manage to not leak even a tiny clue after a country's Prime Minister had taken notice. Unless they all became fully armed members, and on the level of S.H.I.E.L.D.. Otherwise, they couldn't possibly achieve this level under state power.

So Zhou Yi was almost certain that this must be the aftermath left by some secret force or extraordinary organization. As for what the news media reported, it was most likely a smokescreen released by the British Government.

With the unfortunate example of the United States preceding them, the americans did not want Britain to follow in the U.S.'s footsteps. It was best not to let the public know about these mysterious matters. Unlike the vastness of the United States, Great Britain, which was already in decline, could not withstand several upheavals. Therefore, concealment was naturally the best choice.

However, this kind of concealment was also limited; it could deceive most people. But it couldn't deceive the very top echelon. Standing at the top of a tall building, Zhou Yi had already seen many Soldiers patrolling the streets below in police cars. Clearly, this was a Government action. The British Parliament was unwilling to let its capital become another Paris or New York. They wanted to nip it in the bud before everything began.

This was a good idea, but unfortunately, as of now, they didn't know what they were facing.

Compared to these guys scurrying around like headless flies, Zhou Yi had already found the target they were looking for. But he wasn't kind enough to go down and remind them. This was actually for their own good; compared to completing the mission, Zhou Yi felt it was more important to preserve his own life.

He didn't think these Soldiers would be a match for a group of Werewolves and Vampires, especially when these outliers also used advanced human weapons.

Under Zhou Yi's deliberate search, a group of guys engaged in a firefight had nowhere to hide.

From their figures and faces, Zhou Yi recognized two very familiar races: Vampires and Werewolves.

These are two creatures that have consistently appeared in various modern and contemporary fantasy literary works, and Zhou Yi had dealt with one of them for a period of time. Internally, Zhou Yi was very familiar with these things. They possessed superhuman strength and also had a larger numerical base than ordinary extraordinary creatures.

This also provided the explanation for Zhou Yi's last remaining doubt. He had been wondering why the aftermath of the battles was cleaned up so thoroughly that even state power couldn't find any clues. Now it seemed, if it was these two ethnic groups, everything made sense.

Compared to the United States, which has a limited history, Britain's history is much longer, and it has also allowed these creatures, who cannot see the Sun, to infiltrate deeper and control greater forces. For them, doing something under the Government's nose might not be a big problem. Going a step further, it's possible that even Parliament has their informants.

S.H.I.E.L.D.'s main force is concentrated in North America; in Europe, a region that is gradually declining, they don't have the energy to find those hidden ancient alien race and force them to sign any agreements.

A different Law was clearly at play here, and it seemed that this Law was entirely in the hands of these alien race.

He saw Vampires clashing with Werewolves, and also saw some Vampires fighting other Vampires. Whenever casualties occurred, some individuals would use what appeared to be ultraviolet rays or high-efficiency incendiary bombs to directly destroy the bodies. It was at this moment that Zhou Yi noticed something different.

Incendiary bombs were effective against Werewolves; Zhou Yi could guess that much. But why use ultraviolet rays?

It should be known that in his memory, Vampires would directly turn to ashes as long as they suffered a fatal injury. But now, this memory clearly did not match the reality. He saw many Vampires leave bodies after Death, which did not conform to the Vampires' extremely environmentally friendly way of dying. And obviously, those ultraviolet rays were prepared for those types that did not conform to the Vampires' environmentally friendly Death.

As Zhou Yi continued to observe, he discovered some strange things. For example, among the Vampires being attacked by both Vampires and Werewolves, only when these guys died did the 'un-environmentally friendly' situation Zhou Yi noticed occur. As for the Vampires hostile to them, as long as they were hit in a vital spot, they basically turned to ashes immediately.

Clearly, there were also very distinct differences among these fighting Vampires. It was easy to guess that these must be two different varieties. But what exactly they were, Zhou Yi didn't know much about. Although Nysha, who was no longer alive, had once told him part of the history of Vampires, that general information seemed completely inapplicable to everything happening now.

So he decided to get closer and see if he could find anything extra. After all, just by looking, he couldn't understand. It was like watching a movie without subtitles.

Zhou Yi quietly snuck in, and none of the three warring parties noticed his presence. This was normal, because this was deliberately done by Zhou Yi; he didn't want to disturb others' enjoyment, because that would affect his understanding of the origin of everything.

As soon as he squeezed into the battlefield, Zhou Yi found the situation to be much more intense than he had imagined. This wasn't a battle; strictly speaking, it was a Carnage, a Carnage targeting those 'un-environmentally friendly' Vampires.

The participants were their mortal enemies, the Werewolves, and also their own kind. This was very ridiculous and very suspicious. What made Vampires unite with their mortal enemies to target their own kind, even resorting to Carnage? He was really curious now.

For the Vampires being slaughtered, the situation was gradually worsening. Their manpower had already been largely depleted in the previous few clashes.

What remained could now be said to be one of the last remaining forces of their clan.

And this remaining force still seemed very weak when facing the combined strangulation from Vampires and Werewolves.

Selina, once the top hunter of her clan, a member of the Death Dealers, was now truly experiencing the terror of Death.

Watching her former comrades fall one by one, then turn to ashes one by one. And seeing her enemies surge from all directions as if endless. Even with a hundred years of combat experience, at this moment she could only feel endless despair.

The huge numerical advantage had completely driven them to a dead end, and now they didn't even have the strength to resist. They could only sit and wait for Death to arrive, a bitter fate.

Why did it come to this? Selina didn't know at all, and why Werewolves were with other Vampire clans, she still didn't know at all. All she knew now was that the Victor Family was about to disappear, to be completely erased from the Vampire race. And she didn't even know the reason.

This made her feel ridiculous, because of her fate. She had never imagined she would die like this. Not a glorious Death in battle, but being annihilated like a pig. In the past, she would have dismissed it as a dream. But the reality was, this nightmare had come true.

The calls for help and cries from behind her were the last remaining women and Children of the clan. They were not warriors, but they were the last hope of the clan. And Selina and her comrades were protecting the last spark of their clan.

Because when she found that her gun was completely out of ammunition, there was no sound of counterattack around her. This meant she was the last protector, a protector without even a weapon.

At this moment, a Werewolf rushing up could probably take my life. Selina, disarmed, mocked herself. She knew very well how much fighting power she had left without a weapon. And what that remaining fighting power meant when facing those enemies.

They had no hope left; Death was already beckoning. A sense of powerlessness surged into her heart, causing her to loosen her grip and let the gun fall. She closed her eyes, waiting for the final moment to arrive.

Soon, countless footsteps passed by her. Some stopped in front of her, and then she heard the sound of a gun being cocked.

"It'll be quick, it won't hurt much." She silently comforted herself, but the shot was long in coming. And then, a man's voice sounded in her ear.

"Wait, don't kill her yet!"

"But the council's orders?" Someone answered hesitantly, and the previous voice immediately replied firmly.

"I'll give them an answer on the council's side; this is only a secondary mission. Finding the item is our primary goal!"

One person walked away reluctantly, while Selina, who had been waiting for Death with closed eyes, opened them and looked at the man in front of her.

He was an unkempt man, very wild but also very domineering. He looked at Selina, his eyes somewhat peculiar. Selina couldn't understand his gaze at all. But she didn't need to understand, because she had already learned his identity from his scent.

"Disgusting Werewolf, what exactly do you want to do?"

ps: Since the content of Underworld has been mentioned, I'll just gloss over it. This plot hole will be filled, and then this storyline will pass quickly. The main thing is that some mythological content should be introduced.
