Although losing track of Jennifer was a very irritating thing for Bruce Banner. But with Betty's comfort, he still managed to control his emotions.
Because Betty was right about one thing: in the current situation, no matter how much he raged, it would be useless. Instead of losing his temper and causing unpredictable serious situations, it would be better to directly find that Mr. Blue and get a solution from him. And as long as a solution is found, there will be plenty of opportunities to treat Jennifer in the future.
This was a seemingly feasible idea, so after much deliberation, Bruce chose to do as Betty said. He and Betty drove an old pickup truck, which had changed hands who knew how many times, wobbling towards New York.
Unbeknownst to them, not far behind them, someone was following them from a distance.
That was Bruce Banner's cousin, Jennifer Susan Walters. She hadn't truly escaped, but merely fled beyond Bruce Banner's sight. After Bruce and the others chose to leave, she secretly followed behind them. The reason she did this was because she actually had some concerns.
Bruce had described the Hulk's condition as very serious, so serious that she was somewhat worried she might end up like him. Although she currently seemed normal after transforming, no one knew what might happen in the future. She wanted to be fully prepared.
If the situation wasn't serious, then she naturally hoped to retain this power. But if it was truly as Bruce said, then she would have no choice but to step forward and accept treatment with Bruce. However, the key issue was control. No matter what, she wanted to keep the initiative in her own hands, rather than being controlled by Bruce.
Thus, this Hulk trio split into two teams, heading towards New York with one side completely unaware.
Meanwhile, in downtown New York City, a poor young man was frantically busy.
Peter Parker had already donned his iconic red and blue web-patterned spandex suit, so his identity was no longer that of an ordinary high school student or a lucky young reporter. He was now a member of the Superheroes, a good friend to New York City's Civilians — Spider-Man.
Swinging between skyscrapers, helping people solve problems, and incidentally fighting crime. This was Spider-Man's daily life. Generally speaking, he lived a very fulfilling life, so fulfilling that it was almost busy.
However, as a Civilian Superhero, not like Tony Stark or Zhou Yi, who could wander around at any time, he had to solve a very serious problem in addition to his heroic deeds: the coordination of his hero identity and his real identity.
On this issue, the hero nicknamed Little Spider only solved half of it. He did very well when he was a Superhero, whether it was helping ordinary Civilians or apprehending criminals, who were everywhere in New York. He did everything a Superhero could do. On this point, you can tell by looking at his online support rate.
But when he was Peter Parker, his naturalness disappeared without a trace. He left early and returned late, as if he had started to fool around outside. Both his Superior and his Darling uncle and aunt had great opinions of him. And among these, for Peter, the greatest impact was not from them, but from his girlfriend, Gwen Stacy.
He had ignored his girlfriend's existence several times because of his Superhero work. And this had clearly reached Gwen's limit of tolerance for him. Not many women could tolerate their boyfriend neglecting them so much, especially when it was for some unknown reason. If it weren't for the fact that they were both each other's first love, Gwen would have kicked Peter out long ago. Even so, she had given him an ultimatum.
"Peter, where are you?" The phone rang, and Spider-Man Peter, after a wide swing, fumbled for his phone and pressed the answer button. Of course, he didn't forget to keep up with his target, a big man who had just robbed another man and made some inappropriate demands. He was now speeding away on a motorcycle.
"Gwen, I'm still on my way. Oh God, there's a traffic jam here. I really don't know why New York's traffic is so bad."
Peter was making up his usual excuse while shooting a web from his wrist device to the opposite building. With this little thing, he easily changed the direction of his swing and once again closed the distance to the criminal he was targeting.
"An hour ago, you used that same excuse on me. Listen, Peter, I'm giving you one more hour. If you can't appear in front of me, I think we can end this."
Standing at the entrance of the Broadway Theater, Gwen once again issued an ultimatum to Peter. This was supposed to be her perfect day: shopping with her boyfriend, watching an opera, and then having dinner. If the situation called for it, she wouldn't mind a little intimate contact.
But now, because of Peter's uncooperativeness, or rather, irresponsibility, this perfect day had turned into a terrible one. The first half of the plan was completely ruined, and if the second half was also ruined, she would just have to change what she didn't mind. For example, she wouldn't mind changing boyfriends.
Peter heard the seriousness in Gwen's words, and he realized that today was different from usual. If he messed up again, he might really have to say goodbye to his first love girlfriend.
To catch up with this first love girlfriend, Little Spider had put in a tremendous effort. He displayed his talent in science and technology, once becoming a popular figure in high school. He also used all the money he had saved since working to buy a Harley, just to show off. Even so, he only established a relationship with Gwen on the day he officially became a reporter. The process in between was incredibly difficult, its difficulty more than double that of pursuing any other girl in school.
Under these circumstances, if Gwen really said goodbye to him, Little Spider would probably feel like banging his head against a wall. So he immediately promised.
"Half an hour, Gwen. Give me half an hour, I promise I'll be there."
"You said it. See you in half an hour." Hearing this promise, Gwen hung up the phone, satisfied. Peter immediately went into a frenzy.
This was the most important first love for a young man; how could it be cut short because of a big man with an abnormal sexual orientation? Filled with resentment, Spider-Man instantly sped up his movements. His webs shot out faster than usual, and he swung harder than usual. The red and blue figure almost transformed into a blurry Shadow among the tall buildings.
This situation scared the hell out of the desperate gay man. He frantically pressed the accelerator, even disregarding his own safety. He only wanted to escape Spider-Man's pursuit. However, at this critical moment, his efforts were absolutely in vain. Because Spider-Man, fighting for love, had unleashed two hundred percent of his power.
The red and blue blur suddenly swept past him. The gay man driving the motorcycle suddenly felt that the handlebars were no longer in his control. And his feeling was correct, because his vehicle had left the ground and was performing a high-difficulty tumbling fall in the air.
The moment he passed the motorcycle, Spider-Man grabbed the handlebars and lifted it. A mere motorcycle in his hands was not heavy since he had gained superpowers, so he just used a little force, and the motorcycle flew up.
Of course, the gay man also flew up with it. According to his flight height, if he landed on the ground, he would at least break a lot of bones. And if he was unlucky enough to be hit by the motorcycle, then he could basically confess his sins to the God of Death.
However, Little Spider was still a kind-hearted Child after all. Even though this gay man almost ruined his first love, he didn't think of leaving him to die. Swinging back, Peter saved him before the big gay man hit the ground. But naturally, he gave the guy a punch, making him temporarily fall into a coma.
Only then did the motorcycle fall to the ground. Peter looked at the guy in his hand, caught in a dilemma.
In the past, he would have carefully wrapped this guy in his webs like a gift and thrown him at the entrance of some police station. But now, he had absolutely no time for that. He knew Gwen had set a deadline and was waiting for him. Compared to his first love, this boring, mischievous habit was worthless.
Peter, who had a very flexible mind, quickly came up with an idea and immediately put it into action.
A few minutes later, Spider-Man's figure reappeared in the sky above the city and swung towards Times Square. And right where he had just defeated the criminal, a big man was stripped naked and hung upside down on a lamppost by the alleyway. There was also a sizable sign on his body, covering some key areas. The sign read:
"Please note, this is a pervert. He likes to grope men. If anyone sees him, please help call the police." The signature was the vanguard of urban morality, a good friend to Civilians — Spider-Man.
This was a very tragic story for this gay man. But for Peter Parker, who was rushing to catch the last train of love, this was indeed a very lucky story.
Because he finally arrived in front of his girlfriend before the deadline.
"Peter, why are you in such a mess!" Looking at her boyfriend, who appeared in front of her covered in sweat, Gwen Stacy asked in great surprise.
"I promised you I'd be here in half an hour!" Peter replied, panting heavily. "I ran the rest of the way."
"Alright, you passed!" Hearing this, Gwen's face broke into a smile. This made her feel Peter's importance, and that was actually what she wanted.
Hearing Gwen's words, Peter let out a long breath. He stepped forward, hugged Gwen's waist, and asked.
"So, what does the beautiful Young Miss Gwen have planned for tonight?"
"That depends on your performance." Gwen chuckled, dodging Peter's wandering hand. The two young people, like all couples, began to chase each other in Times Square.
