A farmer was plowing the land with a hoe, stroke after stroke, his back wet with sweat and his skin tanned by long exposure to the sun. Beside him, a seven-year-old boy helped by planting seeds and covering them with soil.
The child stopped what he was doing and let out a tired sigh, raised his head, and wiped the sweat from his face. However, as soon as his eyes met the sky, the boy's expression changed drastically; there was a deep horror and fear in his eyes.
"F-father!!!" the child screamed, pointing upwards.
The father instinctively looked up, and his face paled. Without any hesitation, he picked up his son and ran. He ran for his life, he ran for his son's life, he ran for the glimmer of hope he still had.
It wasn't just him; chaos erupted, and a large number of people ran as far away as possible. In the face of a true catastrophe, human power was nothing.
On the battlefield, Cadmus looked at the meteor with a calm gaze. The Maxima Protego shone in the sky like an enormous pillar of light. Then, it dissipated into a dark blue shield that protected a huge area, much larger than his own castle.
The impact came faster than Cadmus expected; it sounded like the end of times. At the same moment, the court mage himself felt the weight of the meteor; his enormous amounts of magical energy began to be consumed as never before.
The powerful, chilling, and thunderous sound echoed for hundreds of kilometers. Birds flew away, sensing the disaster, while panic spread through the Riverlands; even in Harrenhal, the terrifying sound could be heard.
In the face of this, Cadmus did not stop, not when he felt he was holding a mountain on his shoulders. Suddenly, the sound of breaking glass echoed on the battlefield. Raising his head, he saw cracks appearing in the Protego Maxima.
Cadmus showed no surprise at the result; even using magical energy to heal the cracks, the damage was still massive.
At the same time, Cadmus's voice resonated for hundreds of kilometers. "I am Cadmus Peverell, Court Mage to King Rhaegar I Targaryen. At this moment, I am preventing the meteor from falling upon us. All commoners must proceed to Harrenhal as quickly as possible."
"I am Cadmus Peverell, Court Mage to King Rhaegar I Targaryen. At this moment, I am preventing the meteor from falling upon us. All commoners must proceed to Harrenhal as quickly as possible."
"I am Cadmus Peverell, Court Mage to King Rhaegar I Targaryen. At this moment, I am preventing the meteor from falling upon us. All commoners must proceed to Harrenhal as quickly as possible."
Cadmus would never miss the chance to become a hero in the eyes of the people, and such an opportunity was not found every day. He even wanted to thank Stregobor, for without him, he would have to wait years until people accepted him without any bloodshed or intimidation.
Bending down, Cadmus of the court touched the ground, and gigantic pillars of rock and stone shot upwards. More and more pillars advanced, all supporting the Protego Maxima. From afar, they looked like enormous pillars supporting the sky itself.
Finally, after a while, the enormous meteorite finally stopped falling and remained under the massive shield spell.
"It seems you are not Madara and cannot summon a second one." Cadmus let out a tired sigh and looked at Stregobor with a look of disdain. He thought he was a fan of Madara, but he turned out to be just a low-grade imitator.
Stregobor did not respond to Cadmus's words; he stared blankly at the meteor he had summoned with all his magic. He couldn't believe it had actually been stopped. It wasn't just any spell, but a spell considered taboo even in Ban Ard, as its damage could not be controlled.
However, that same spell had now been completely stopped, and not by a group of mages, but by just one mage. Stregobor's green eyes fixed on Cadmus; even the demonic beings didn't seem as terrifying as this young mage.
Now, he was worrying if Ban Ard could really kill such a monster. Stregobor presumed that the academy would ignore Cadmus after learning of the mage's deeds in this battle, after all, he was an extremely dangerous and powerful being.
Although he was a Grand Master, antagonizing a mage of this caliber for a Grand Master was not worth it. That is, his death would not even have meaning.
"Are you afraid?" Cadmus asked in a calm tone, facing the old mage. He did not let his guard down; never underestimate a centuries-old mage. There were so many uncertainties and tricks that it was difficult to guess Stregobor's next move.
"Is it wrong to try to save the world? It's just one girl's life for the entire civilization." Stregobor said in a hoarse tone, but calmness reappeared on his face. He was a Grand Master, not an ignorant commoner; he would die with dignity.
"Save the world?" Cadmus seemed to hear something very funny. If there was one thing that categorized mages, it was selfishness and greed. He could believe that Stregobor was trying to become famous by saving the world, but he would never believe this nonsense about saving the world out of benevolence.
"I'm going to pay a visit to Ban Ard and see if all mages are as kind and benevolent as you." Cadmus said in a cold tone.
Stregobor looked at him calmly and replied with even more calmness. "Ban Ard is hidden; not even you will be able to track it."
The Ban Ard Academy of Magic was not simply an academy; it was a school-city, hidden on the continent of Sothoryos by spells and more spells. It was an impregnable and invisible fortress that no wild mage would even set foot in.
"You will tell me, my dear Grand Master." Cadmus said with a cold smile, which made Stregobor feel a bad premonition. "First, I will break your will. It's not easy to control a mage with a strong will, much less one as strong as you. After I control you, you will tell me exactly where Ban Ard is, and then you can die painfully."
"Stupefy!" Cadmus cast the spell in an instant, hitting the old mage squarely on the head.
Stregobor tried to say something, but darkness enveloped his consciousness.
Looking at the unconscious mage on the ground, Cadmus rolled up his sleeves and picked Stregobor up on his shoulder, like a sack of potatoes.
Looking up, Cadmus looked at the meteor still in the sky and frowned; that couldn't stay in the sky, or it would fall when he left. Although the impact would not be nearly as powerful, it could still pose some risks to the commoners.
With a wave of his hand, the Protego Maxima disappeared, and the pillars of rock and stone held the meteor, hundreds of meters in diameter. Naturally, the pillars could not withstand the enormous weight of the rock and began to crack, but Cadmus controlled this and slowly began to lower the pillars, bringing the enormous rock to the ground gradually.
With a loud sound, the meteor finally touched the ground, making Cadmus let out a tired sigh. Fighting a Grand Master turned out to be more tiring and difficult than he expected. However, this excited him.
This showed that the magic of this world was far from weak. The director and directress of Ban Ard and Aretuza were even more powerful, right?
Cadmus was excited about what was coming, especially from these two magical academies.
Looking at Stregobor on his shoulder, Cadmus showed a smile. "Now we'll deal with you; before killing you, I'll extract every piece of information and legacy from you."
Killing Stregobor at this moment was a complete waste; he would first extract all information from the old mage's mind and then kill him.
(Note: I will not show his death, but know that he will die after all information has been extracted from his mind.)
Looking at the battlefield, Cadmus let out another sigh; this type of fight was really harmful to the environment. Before returning, the Court Mage repaired the entire Raventree Hall castle, as if time had been turned back.
The court mage showed a satisfied look seeing the castle intact again. Looking at the enormous rock not far away, he knew that this place would be a tourist attraction for a long time. After all, a truly unimaginable war for any human had happened in this place.
