The scorching heat distorted the air over Training Ground Number 7. The immense fireball spat out by Sasuke Uchiha descended with the roar of a starving beast, evaporating the moisture from the grass before it even touched the ground.
Kakashi Hatake wasted no time cursing his student's recklessness. His left eye, blood-red and adorned with the three spinning tomoe, tracked the fire's trajectory in a fraction of a millisecond. There was no killing intent specifically directed at him; it was a blind attack, driven by pure frustration.
With a fluid movement, Kakashi channeled chakra into his feet. He did not jump backward. Instead, his hands formed the Snake seal at an imperceptible speed.
Earth Release: Hiding Like a Mole Technique.
The ground beneath the Jōnin's feet softened as if it were water. Kakashi sank into the earth at the exact instant the fireball struck the ground, creating an explosion of orange flames and black smoke that devoured the space where he and Naruto had been standing just a second before.
From the branches of his tree, Sasuke panted heavily, his chest rising and falling. A wild, exhausted smile spread across his sweaty face.
I did it, he thought feverishly. I caught them both off guard.
But when the smoke began to dissipate, carried away by the morning breeze, the Uchiha's smile froze.
There, only a few meters from the edge of the smoking crater, stood Naruto Uzumaki. His orange jacket did not bear a single burn mark. His hands still rested calmly at his sides. He had used the Silent Cicada Ghost Step to move out of the blast radius with such absolute economy of motion that it seemed as though he had never moved at all.
Naruto looked at the charred grass and then fixed his gaze on the empty patch of earth where Kakashi had been standing.
A subterranean evasion, Naruto analyzed, the calm of an Immortal dictating each of his thoughts. He used the earth-element energy network to liquefy the soil and submerge himself. Low-level assassination tactics. He will seek my blind spot and attack where mortal defenses are weakest: beneath the soles of my feet.
### The Hunter Beneath the Earth
Silence returned to the clearing, but it was a heavy silence, charged with electric tension. Sakura, still hidden in the bushes, covered her mouth with both hands, terrified by the magnitude of Sasuke's technique and her teacher's sudden disappearance.
Beneath the surface, Kakashi moved swiftly through the softened earth. His Sharingan allowed him to see chakra signatures through dirt and roots. He could see Sasuke's massive, exhausted signature in the tree, and Naruto's tiny, almost nonexistent blue flame standing on the surface.
The boy is a physical prodigy, that's undeniable, Kakashi thought as he positioned himself directly beneath Naruto. But his lack of chakra is his weakness. His body is strong, but if I immobilize him, he won't be able to escape. Let's end this.
Kakashi prepared his hands.
Earth Release: Headhunter Jutsu.
The earth beneath Naruto's feet burst open silently. Two gloved hands emerged from the dirt at incredible speed, seizing the blond boy's ankles with an iron grip. The Jōnin's intention was simple and brutal: drag him downward, burying his body up to the neck in solid earth, neutralizing whatever physical advantage he possessed.
Kakashi pulled with all his strength.
And then the Jōnin felt something impossible.
It was not like pulling the body of a twelve-year-old child. It was like trying to uproot an ancient mountain with nothing but bare hands.
On the surface, Naruto did not panic. When he felt Kakashi's fingers close around his ankles, he did not try to leap free. On the contrary, he closed his eyes and exhaled softly. Using the principles of Chaos Refinement, he condensed the total weight of his bones, muscles, and energy into his center of gravity, anchoring himself deeply to the earth.
"You think the earth is your ally because you can hide in it," Naruto murmured, his voice vibrating through the ground and reaching Kakashi's ears. "But the earth only respects those who know how to tread upon it."
### The Dance of Pure Jade
Before Kakashi could release the ankles and reposition himself, Naruto acted.
He did not use ninjutsu. He used a martial art that had never seen the light of day in this universe. The ultimate hand-to-hand combat art of his former sect: the Pure Jade Fighting Style.
It was a style designed not to break bricks through brute force, but to channel the flow of kinetic energy, redirect an opponent's strength, and strike with the devastating precision of a needle piercing a balloon.
Instead of resisting the grip, Naruto bent his right knee slightly, abruptly and deliberately dropping his dead weight, and slammed the sole of his foot into the ground with an ancient technique known as the Heavy Lotus Stomp.
**BOOOM!**
It was not a fiery explosion but an acoustic and seismic detonation. A physical shockwave tore through the compressed earth. The ground around Naruto's feet fractured as though it were glass struck by a hammer.
Underground, the shockwave struck Kakashi's chest with the force of a battering ram. The air burst from his lungs in a violent grunt, and his Earth Technique unraveled under the physical disruption of the terrain.
Blasted out of his underground hiding place in a shower of dirt and stones, Kakashi was forced back to the surface, coughing and struggling to regain his balance in midair.
But Naruto was already waiting for him.
While Kakashi still hung a meter above the ground, the blond moved forward. His movements changed drastically. Gone was the stillness of a mountain; now he flowed like spring water, swift, seamless, and lethally precise.
Naruto's right hand shot forward with his index and middle fingers extended, aiming directly for the pressure point on Kakashi's right shoulder (the Jianyu meridian).
Kakashi, with his Sharingan spinning frantically, saw the strike coming. His eye predicted the trajectory. He twisted his body in the air and raised his forearm to block the thrust.
The deadly arm collided with the veteran Jōnin's limb.
In the Strong Fist Style (Gōken), such a clash would have resulted in a simple block. But in the Pure Jade Style, force was not stopped—it was redirected. At the instant of impact, Naruto's wrist rotated with unnatural flexibility. He wrapped his hand around Kakashi's forearm, using the falling Jōnin's own inertia to pull him forward, completely destabilizing him.
"Wha—?!" Kakashi exclaimed, feeling all control over his own body slipping away.
Taking advantage of the pull, Naruto slid his left foot behind Kakashi's legs. With an elegant, fluid movement, as though dancing in the courtyard of an immortal palace, Naruto struck with the open palm of his left hand directly into the center of the Jōnin's sternum.
**Jade Wind Palm.**
The impact was dull and deep. Kakashi was hurled backward, his boots gouging through the clearing's soil for five meters before he managed to drive a kunai into the ground to halt his retreat.
### The Disbelief of the Copying Eye
The silver-haired Jōnin dropped to one knee, coughing as he pressed a hand to his chest. The pain was not superficial; it felt as though the energy of the blow itself had penetrated through his tactical vest, shaking his internal organs without breaking a single rib.
He looked at Naruto with his Sharingan wide open. The blood-red eye that had analyzed and memorized a thousand techniques throughout his life was blind to what it had just witnessed.
I can't copy it, Kakashi realized, and a chill of pure existential dread ran down his spine. My Sharingan memorized the movement of his feet, the angle of his arms... but if I try to imitate it, I'll only shatter my joints. His style requires a muscular density, breath control, and joint fluidity that do not exist in normal human anatomy.
Naruto stood before him several meters away. His breathing remained that same unchanged and terrifying cycle. He was not sweating. His guard was not raised because, in the Pure Jade Style, every posture of relaxation was also a posture of death.
"Your eyes see the shell, Kakashi," Naruto said softly, his words drifting over the trampled grass. "But they cannot read the soul of movement. The lineage of the heavens cannot be copied with visual tricks."
High in the trees, Sasuke watched the scene with paralyzing terror. His glorious Fireball Technique had accomplished nothing, and the Sharingan Jōnin was kneeling and coughing before Naruto. The world as the Uchiha knew it had just been completely shattered.
