The fragrance of a 6th Tier Pill thickened rapidly, curling through the air like threads of mist and spreading in every direction.
Within moments, a flash of white shot across the vast hall like lightning. Before Liu Xi, Zi Yan, or Qing Lin could react, the jade bottle on the ground toppled over—and the pill inside vanished. The white shadow darted several meters further before stopping abruptly.
Only then did the creature reveal its true form before them.
It was a small beast, no larger than two palms, with a body covered in soft, snow-white fur as fine as silk. Its round limbs and sleek tail made it look like a cross between a tiger cub and a cat. Sitting upright on its hind legs, it held the 6th Tier Pill delicately in its furry paws. Two bright black eyes sparkled as it brought the pill close, sniffing with visible delight.
Its furry ears twitched at the intoxicating scent, and an expression of pure contentment spread across its little face. The creature was so irresistibly adorable that even Liu Xi had the impulse to scoop it up and squeeze it.
"Young Master, your pill!" Qing Lin gasped—not out of distress, but from surprise at the tiny creature.
"What kind of Magical Beast is this? Even the Ancient Void Dragon Tribe has no record of such a creature!" Zi Yan's eyes widened. To her, it looked like a baby beast, but not even the oldest dragon records described something like this.
Liu Xi's lips curved in amusement, his gaze sharpening. His body tensed slightly, ready to strike at any moment. "That's no Magical Beast—it's a Pill Beast. Likely a pill that broke its seal, gained a trace of sentience, and devoured all the other pills in this hall."
Zi Yan and Qing Lin blinked in unison, realization dawning on their faces. No wonder Zi Yan's treasure sense had gone wild earlier—it wasn't wrong at all. The 'treasure' she sensed could move on its own.
Her eyes immediately lit up again. "Big Brother, what do we do? Should we rush it and grab it? A Pill Beast! I've never seen one before!"
"Wait," Liu Xi said calmly, his tone patient. "When it relaxes—right as it finishes eating—that's when we strike." His gaze stayed fixed on the little white creature.
Within a few breaths, the Pill Beast finished sniffing, confirmed it was safe, and opened its mouth wide to swallow the pill whole. Its soft chewing sounds echoed faintly through the air.
"Now!" Liu Xi's voice snapped through the hall like thunder.
He stomped the ground lightly, his figure blurring into motion. In the blink of an eye, he appeared behind the creature, his shadow falling over it. The Pill Beast froze, but before it could move, Liu Xi's hand darted forward—pinching the loose fur at the back of its neck.
He lifted it effortlessly into the air.
The creature's expression shifted from blissful satisfaction to sheer panic. Its little limbs flailed helplessly, and its glossy black eyes shimmered with what looked like tears.
"You ate my pill," Liu Xi said with a faint smirk, "so you'll just have to pay me back—with yourself." His grin turned teasingly wicked, earning him the look of a mischievous bully.
The Pill Beast blinked and made a gagging motion, as if trying to spit the pill back up.
"Too late," Liu Xi chuckled. "What's eaten is eaten. From now on, you're mine."
Its eyes dimmed in despair, but its spiritual aura pulsed faintly—it was far more intelligent than an ordinary beast.
He raised it to eye level, threads of Spiritual Power flowing from his brow and piercing gently into its body. A moment later, understanding flickered in his eyes. "So that's it… the Heavenly Sun Purging Pill. A pill that can cleanse all foreign energies—poison, fire venom, frost toxins, even seals. A powerful pill indeed."
"Big Brother, it's so cute! Let me hold it!" Zi Yan exclaimed, her tone brimming with excitement.
Liu Xi laughed lightly and handed it over. Zi Yan immediately pulled Qing Lin closer, and the two began playing with the small creature. They pinched its cheeks, rubbed its belly, and cooed over its fur until it hung limply in their hands, eyes glazed with resignation.
Watching their antics, Liu Xi could only smile faintly. "This Pill Beast's essence comes from the Heavenly Sun Purging Pill. Its blood can suppress strange or violent forces in the body—poison, sealed Dou Qi, or even chaotic power. It might even help subdue the Ancient Heaven Serpent within you, Qing Lin."
"Really?" Qing Lin's emerald eyes widened with joy. "That's wonderful! I won't have to worry about dragging you and Sister Zi Yan down anymore."
'It looks delicious,' Zi Yan thought mischievously, lips curling into a grin that made the Pill Beast tremble. Perhaps sensing danger, the little creature scurried into Qing Lin's arms, clinging tightly as if she were its only safe haven.
Liu Xi chuckled softly and turned his attention back to the hall. "This place is called the Pill Hall—it shouldn't contain only pills."
He strode deeper into the ancient chamber, searching through the ruins. Before long, he discovered a side chamber that resembled a study. Dust-covered wooden shelves lined the walls, each holding boxes that had miraculously survived the ages.
Liu Xi brushed the dust away and opened them one by one. Inside, carefully preserved beneath time's veil, were ancient pill recipes, handwritten notes, and annotations—the true inheritance of the hall's master.
"These," he murmured, satisfaction glinting in his eyes, "are worth more than all the pills combined."
With a wave of his hand, he stored everything neatly into his spatial ring. The moment he finished looting, the Pill Hall fell silent once again, empty and still.
Outside, Zi Yan and Qing Lin were still playing with the trembling Pill Beast, their laughter echoing faintly through the air as Liu Xi stepped out of the ancient hall, another victory quietly sealed.
