Chapter 17 - Chapter 16: Battle Trial (PART 3)

Silence settled over Ground Beta.

The students slowly filtered into the observation room once more. Some still stared at the destroyed monitor feeds while others couldn't stop looking toward the medical staff wheeling Midoriya away.

Bakugo hadn't moved much. The words All Might told him resounded through his soul.

"Today was a lesson, training is a lesson, not a fight, young Bakugo. Always remember that, young hero."

He flinched at the thought of being scolded by his idol, the fact that he was right made it worse. Maybe the fact that he was held here to be scrutinized by his "Classmates"

Genya's eyes remained fixed on the hallway Izuku had disappeared through. The camera still somehow intact.

'Finally, the match was over...'

Genya's breath was a mess, Izuku sure didn't make the win clean, was all he thought. Before asking All Might.

"...Is Izuku okay?"

The room went oddly quiet, several heads turned.

Even Bakugo looked, awaiting the answer.

All Might looked over before flashing an exaggerated thumbs-up.

"Young Midoriya shall recover! Recovery Girl is already treating him, he should make a full recovery by sundown!"

A collective sigh escaped the room.

Genya visibly relaxed, shoulders releasing the rigid stance he had tormented them with.

Bakugo clicked his tongue.

"...Tch."

Whether he was relieved or irritated... Nobody could really tell.

All Might clapped his hands together.

"Excellent work, everyone!"

His grin returned.

"Now then! A battle is only valuable if we learn from it."

He looked around the room. Lingering on Bakugo, who just stared holes into the ground

"Who would like to tell me which participant was today's Most Valuable Player?"

Immediately...

Hands shot into the air.

Momo.

Iida.

Midoriya would've.

Even Mina.

All Might pointed.

"Young Yaoyorozu!"

Momo folded her hands.

"I believe Uraraka deserves the title."

Several students blinked.

She continued.

"Without her reconnaissance, Midoriya never would've located the objective."

"And without her timing..."

She looked toward the destroyed monitor.

"...the heroes would've lost."

All Might smiled.

"Excellent observation!"

Another hand shot up.

"Me!"

Mina practically bounced.

"I think Midoriya!"

"Even after all that beating, he still kept fighting!"

"He never forgot the objective either!"

All Might laughed.

"Wonderful!"

"Anyone else?"

Togaru raised a finger.

"If I may."

All Might nodded.

"The conduct of one participant deserves criticism."

Everyone already knew.

He looked directly toward Bakugo.

"A duel born from emotion blinds even the sharpest blade."

Bakugo's eyebrow twitched.

"You sought victory over one man."

Togaru pointed toward the monitor.

"The objective was never Midoriya."

"...It was the bomb."

Kirishima rubbed the back of his neck.

"I gotta agree."

Bakugo glanced over.

Kirishima met his eyes anyway.

"That wasn't very manly."

"You had the advantage."

"You kinda threw it away."

Bakugo clicked his tongue.

"...Shut up."

All Might let the silence settle.

"Interesting..."

Then...

His eyes drifted elsewhere.

"Young Shina-."

He had forgotten not to address them in that manner, something Sanemi likely wouldn't like either.

"Excuse me, Young Sanemi, do you have any words? I feel you would have quite the perspective."

All Might knew he wasn't privy to large crowds, his history told him so, but if he could open himself up to the class, he would feel less ostracized.

Genya's heart skyrocketed, quickly turning,

'Seriously...?'

Sanemi looked up lazily, he had not even raised his hands yet HE was picked, bullshit he tells it.

"What."

All Might cleared his throat,

"What did you see in the fight, young man?"

The room quieted again.

Most of the class expected another sarcastic answer.

Instead...

Sanemi shrugged.

"The fight wasn't close."

Bakugo grimaced.

Then Sanemi continued.

"It was closer."

He looked up, shocked, surprise evident on Bakugo's visage.

"The damage makes people think Bakugo dominated, he didn't."

Todoroki was stunned he had thought Sanemi to be more of the bronze-over-brains type.

"Bakugo won the exchanges."

"He lost the battle."

Nobody interrupted.

"He kept treating Midoriya like the only objective."

Sanemi folded his arms.

"Wrong."

Pointing at Ochaco, he continued.

"The objective was to stop the heroes."

He looked toward the battlefield monitor.

"If Midoriya never enters the building..."

He pointed toward the entrance.

"...the heroes lose."

"If Bakugo keeps him outside..."

Another point.

"...the heroes lose."

"If he drives Midoriya to the opposite side of the building..."

Another.

"...the heroes lose."

He lowered his hand.

"The clock would've beaten them."

Silence.

"He had 15 minutes."

"He fought like he had 15 seconds."

Even Momo's eyes widened slightly.

Sanemi wasn't finished.

"And Midoriya..."

He looked toward the destroyed building.

"... He figured that out. He never tried to beat Bakugo."

"He only needed Bakugo stupid enough to chase him, dumb enough to listen to him."

Bakugo's fist tightened.

"..."

Sanemi shrugged again.

"So..."

"This wasn't a fight, merely a gauge of his ability to think about the bigger picture."

"The smarter team won."

All Might smiled.

"...Excellent."

Momo nodded; everything he said was indeed true.

"...Good analysis."

Sanemi blinked.

"...Of course."

Todoroki just peered over Sanemi's shoulder. With Sanemi trying to see through him, there was more than met the eye.

"... I missed that."

All Might clapped, getting everyone's attention.

"Excellent young heroes, spotting mistakes can be just as helpful as spotting the things that have been done well. Now..."

Flipping to another set of cameras and building all together, the room slowly settled as All Might lifted the next card.

"SECOND MATCH!"

"Hero Team... Shoto Todoroki and Mezo Shoji!"

Shoji stood first, stretching each of his arms.

"Looks like we're up."

Before Todoroki could walk past...

Tokoyami spoke.

"...Todoroki."

He stopped.

Tokoyami's crimson eyes met his.

"...Do not lose yourself in overwhelming force."

A pause.

"...There is honor in restraint."

The room glanced between them.

They hadn't spoken much since enrollment.

Yet...

There was an odd understanding between them.

Perhaps because neither spoke unless necessary, perhaps because both understood what overwhelming power looked like.

Todoroki gave a single nod.

"...I'll remember."

Tokoyami returned the nod.

--

The match had starte.d All Might's voice rang out asShoji walked beside Todoroki as they entered the building from the first floor.

Stretching another arm from his shoulder, he pointed toward the ceiling.

"My quirk allows me to replicate sensory organs."

An eye formed in his palm.

"I can scout several floors at once."

The eye shifted into an ear.

"If we divide the building, I'll locate the villains while yo-"

Todoroki stepped in front of him, interrupting his speech

"There is no need."

Shoji stopped.

"...What?"

Todoroki looked toward the exit leading outside.

"Go outside."

Looking between the door and Todoroki, he questioned

"...Outside?"

Todoroki seemed as calm as ever, but a chill crept down his spine, slow but increasingly intolerable.

"I'll finish it from there."

Shoji stared at him for a moment. Before he thought to himself.

'He wasn't boasting, he wasn't trying to sound impressive. It's as if he was simply stating a fact.'

"...Understood."

Without another question, Shoji turned and followed.

Inside the villain room...

Ojiro stretched his tail.

"So... what's our plan?"

A cheerful voice answered from seemingly nowhere.

"I could hide the bomb!"

Ojiro scratched his cheek awkwardly.

"...Right, but we kinda should've been doing that, you know..."

Toru was now fully invisible,

"Well, I needed to get myself ready first."

Ojiro just sighed,

"Probably best we stayed together anyway."

Toru giggled.

"But if I sneak up on them, they'll never know where I am."

Ojiro smiled.

"I doubt Shoji would allow you, even though you would be invisible, his quirk is a practical counter to your quirk..."

The air immediately changed.

Shoji blinked. From outside the building, he watched as time slowed as he witnessed domination.

"..."

The temperature dropped so quickly his breath became visible.

Frost spread beneath Todoroki's feet.

His left side glowed pale white.

Then...

Ice erupted forward like a tidal wave.

It swallowed the entrance.

Climbed the walls.

Burst through every window.

Shot through every hallway.

Within seconds...

The entire five-story building disappeared beneath a mountain of ice.

-

Silence.

Absolute silence.

The observation room stared.

Nobody spoke.

Even the camera feeds had turned almost entirely white.

Denki hugged himself.

"...Why..."

He rubbed both arms.

"...Why am I cold?"

Jiro blinked.

"...You're right..."

Mina shivered.

"...Is it just me?"

Tsuyu rubbed her hands together.

"...Ribbit..."

A puff of cold air escaped her mouth.

"...It's freezing."

Denki pointed accusingly toward the monitors.

"ALL MIGHT!"

"HOW ARE WE FEELING HIS QUIRK FROM HERE?!"

All Might rubbed his chin.

"...Young Kaminari..."

He looked around the room.

Then at the monitors.

"...I honestly don't know."

Even he looked impressed.

Momo slowly lowered her notebook.

"...He froze every possible route of escape."

Todoroki's ice still groaned as it expanded.

Shoji watched silently beside him.

"...There was no need for a strategy."

Tokoyami nodded once.

"...An overwhelming opening."

Kirishima stared.

"...That..."

"...That's insane."

Genya blinked. This amount of power for just a first year was... Humbling

"...The whole building..."

Even Sanemi's eyes lingered on the monitor for a second longer than usual.

"..."

'Hm.'

-

Inside...

Ojiro couldn't move.

Only his eyes.

"..."

His entire lower body was trapped.

Nearby...

Toru's outline was barely visible beneath the ice.

"...Uh..."

"...I think..."

"...We lost."

Footsteps echoed.

Crunch.

Crunch.

Crunch.

Todoroki calmly walked through the frozen hallway.

He never looked hurried.

Never looked excited.

He simply walked toward the objective.

Stopping before the mock weapon, he rested one hand on it.

"...Heroes win."

Then he touched the ground with his right hand.

A faint orange glow spread across the frozen walls.

Steam hissed throughout the building.

The ice slowly began melting away, releasing Ojiro and Toru without harming them.

"...You may move now."

Ojiro finally caught his balance.

"...Thank you."

Toru stretched her arms.

"Well..."

"...That was fast."

All Might smiled as the class slowly began to settle down.

"Well done, Young Todoroki and Young Shoji!"

Todoroki simply nodded.

Shoji looked toward the frozen battlefield.

"...That was certainly one way to do it."

All Might laughed.

-

Returning to the stands, both teams stood as they assessed who won MVP

All Might stood, peering into the group of students as he cleared his throat

"Now, as you know, MVP would obviously go to this young man, but even in a dominating defeat, what can we learn?"

Tsuyu raised her hand first,

"Urm, what could possibly be done? I mean, he froze the entire building, ribbit"

Iida agreed, having seen no flaws in Todoroki's strategy.

"Indeed! While Young Todoroki's approach may have been... excessive, it was highly effective!"

All Might knew they would be confused by such a question, but knowing the difference between using force and being overly forceful was important, especially in hero work.

"Effective isn't the same thing as efficient."

Todoroki glanced toward him.

All Might continued.

"He won quickly, but he used enough power to freeze an entire building."

"Against two students who weren't prepared for it."

Todoroki looked toward the monitor.

"...They weren't injured."

Togaru stared at him. He was far too cocky, far too in his own head.

"That's not my point."

Todoroki didn't respond.

Mina leaned back in her chair.

"He's got a point, it was over without much of a hassle."

Several students looked toward Denki, as he motioned toward the screen.

"If you can end a fight before the other side can react, that's efficient."

Sanemi's eyes shifted toward him.

"But..."

Sanemi paused as he sized up Ojiro and where Toru was supposed to be,

"If you are fighting a bag of rocks, of course you're going to win."

Todoroki looked toward Sanemi.

The two stared at each other for a moment. whole class was shocked, yet not surprised he didn't look like the type to "sugarcoat" things.

Neither said anything.

Togaru whisped

"Dude, you were just winning them over"

Denki sat beside them

"That's your fellow classmates, bro."

Sanemi decided to add his thoughts on it.

"fuck e-"

Togaru covered his mouth before he could finish

"...At least someone's paying attention."

All Might clapped his hands.

"AND THAT IS WHY WE LEARN!"

He struck a pose before continuing,

"EVEN IN UTTER DEFEAT, A TRUE HERO MUST LEARN!!"

He flipped the card in his hand.

"THIRD MATCH!"

The screen changed.

"Hero Team: Fumikage Tokoyami and Tsuyu Asui!"

Tokoyami stood.

Tsuyu followed shortly after.

"Villain Team: Yuga Aoyama and Eijiro Kirishima!"

Kirishima shot to his feet.

"Alright!"

Aoyama stood dramatically beside him.

"Prepare yourselves."

He placed a hand against his chest.

"For the brilliance of my magnificence."

Kirishima blinked.

"...You know we're supposed to protect the bomb, right?"

Aoyama paused.

"...Of course."

"Then why are you posing?"

"...For morale."

Kirishima sighed.

"Right."

'This team is so not manly

He sighed as the battle began.

Tokoyami and Tsuyu entered from the first floor.

Tsuyu looked around.

"Ribbit. Where do you think they'll be?"

Tokoyami's head tilted slightly.

"Waiting."

Tsuyu blinked.

"...Waiting?"

"Their objective is defense."

His shadow moved slightly.

"They have no reason to approach us."

Tsuyu nodded.

"So we find them."

"Precisely."

Inside the building...

Kirishima stood beside the bomb.

"So..."

Aoyama looked toward him.

"So?"

"What are we doing?"

Aoyama raised a finger.

"We shall defend with honor."

Kirishima smiled.

"Now you're speaking my language."

Aoyama suddenly pointed toward the hallway.

"They're here."

Kirishima's eyes widened.

"...Already?"

A dark mass crawled across the ceiling.

Dark Shadow emerged.

"FOUND YOU."

Kirishima hardened instantly.

"COME ON, I AIN'T SCARED!"

He charged.

Tsuyu jumped backward as Kirishima's fist slammed into the floor.

"Ribbit!"

Tokoyami stepped back.

"Dark Shadow."

The creature lunged.

Kirishima blocked the attack.

"You're gonna have to hit harder than that!"

Dark Shadow pushed against him.

Aoyama raised his naval laser.

"Now!"

A beam shot through the hallway.

Tokoyami pulled Dark Shadow away just in time.

The beam struck the wall.

Tsuyu landed beside him.

"That was close."

Tokoyami nodded.

"They're stronger together than expected."

Tsuyu smiled.

"Then let's separate them."

A few minutes later...

Kirishima stood confused.

"Where'd they go?"

Aoyama looked around.

"I do not know."

Kirishima's eyes widened.

"Wait..."

A tongue wrapped around Aoyama's ankle.

"Caught you, ribbit."

Tsuyu pulled.

"WHOA!"

Aoyama was dragged around the corner.

"HOW DARE YOU!"

Kirishima rushed after them.

Dark Shadow suddenly appeared behind him.

"BOO."

Kirishima spun around.

"AH!"

Dark Shadow struck him into the wall.

Kirishima hardened further.

"Okay!"

He grinned.

"That actually hurt!"

Tokoyami stepped forward.

"Then surrender."

Kirishima laughed.

"No way!"

The battle ended shortly afterward.

Tokoyami and Tsuyu secured the bomb.

All Might raised his arms.

"ANOTHER VICTORY FOR THE HERO TEAM!"

Kirishima sat against the wall.

"Man..."

He rubbed his head.

"That was actually pretty awesome."

Aoyama dusted himself off. Fixing his navel laser

"I concur."

Kirishima looked at him.

"You got dragged around by your ankle."

Aoyama's smile faded.

"...I will remember this betrayal."

-

The class returned to the observation room.

All Might smiled.

"Excellent work, Young Tokoyami and Young Asui!"

Tsuyu nodded.

"Thank you."

Tokoyami simply folded his arms.

"The battle was straightforward."

All Might put his hands on his hips,

"That was excellent teamwork, young heroes."

Tokoyami glanced over.

"...Thank you."

He turned toward the class.

"Thoughts?"

Kirishima raised his hand.

"We got split up."

He scratched the back of his head.

"Once that happened, we kinda lost our advantage."

Aoyama placed a hand dramatically against his chest.

"Alas..."

"My radiant strategy was extinguished before it could truly shine."

Kirishima stared at him.

"...You didn't have a strategy."

Aoyama gasped.

"Such cruelty!"

A few students laughed.

Even All Might chuckled.

"But Kirishima is correct."

He pointed toward the screen.

"The villain team possessed two powerful individual quirks."

"Kirishima's hardening allowed him to withstand Dark Shadow's attacks..."

"And Young Aoyama's naval laser provided excellent ranged pressure."

His expression became more serious.

"But neither could compensate for poor positioning and planning."

Tsuyu nodded.

"We separated ourselves."

"And they took advantage of it."

All Might smiled.

"Exactly!"

He turned toward Tokoyami.

"And Young Tokoyami?"

Tokoyami looked at the screen.

"We recognized the weakness in their formation."

"Dark Shadow restricted Kirishima's movement."

"And Tsuyu pursued Aoyama."

He paused.

"We did not need to overpower them."

"We only needed to prevent them from supporting one another."

Momo quietly wrote something down.

Sanemi watched the screen.

'Simple.'

'That's the point.'

There was nothing flashy about it.

No massive destruction.

No desperate comeback.

No single student carrying the entire match.

Just two people understanding what the other needed.

All Might smiled.

"And that, young heroes, is teamwork!"

He raised a fist.

"Power can win an exchange!"

"But cooperation wins battles!"

The class murmured among themselves.

Then All Might looked toward the next matchup.

His grin widened.

Sanemi gave Tokoyami a serious look.

"You did well."

"...Thank you."

The brief exchange caught Mina's attention.

She looked between them.

"Huh."

Denki leaned toward her.

"What?"

"You know..."

Mina lowered her voice.

"I think those two might actually get along."

Denki looked at Sanemi.

Then Tokoyami.

"...Yeah."

He paused.

"That's kinda terrifying."

Sanemi's eye twitched.

"I can hear you."

Denki immediately looked away.

"I said nothing."

Sanemi glanced beside him. He hadn't seen his old friends in 10 years, and he had still been hesitant to bring up what happened after he left. He tried visiting, but it was Barron, replaced by a hero toy factory.

"Oi, Togaru!"

Togaru turned.

Their eyes met.

For a moment, neither said anything.

Togaru weaved a hand through his messy hair as he still awaited Sanemi's next words.

"What?"

Sanemi looked at him.

"...The QCF."

Togaru's grin faded.

Denki stopped too.

"...What about it?"

Sanemi leaned back slightly.

"How much changed? You know I was gone for a bit. I just thought this was the time to ask."

Rubbing his maw, Togaru thought it was definitely not the best time to ask.

"You mean after you left?"

Sanemi's eyes narrowed.

"...Yeah."

Togaru glanced toward the doorway. Trying to quell the brewing emotions.

Togaru looked back at him.

"After Moonfish..."

He paused.

"...everything changed."

Sanemi's expression hardened.

"What changed?"

Togaru scratched the back of his neck.

"The QCF changed. They put rules on us, training got stricter... Just everything started being monitored and instructed."

His voice became quieter.

"The HPSC got involved."

Sanemi's eyes shifted.

"... Why would Yoshi allow this?"

Togaru didn't answer immediately.

He didn't need to.

Sanemi understood.

Moonfish.

The blood.

The screaming.

The moment he had crossed a line he could never uncross.

His hands tightened.

"I wasn't there."

Togaru looked at him.

"No."

A pause.

"You weren't."

Sanemi expected that.

What he didn't expect was what came next.

"But you weren't the only one who fought villains."

Sanemi's eyes snapped toward him.

"...What?"

Togaru's expression was strangely serious.

"You think we just went back to being normal kids after you left?"

Sanemi said nothing.

Togaru shook his head.

"We fought too."

Denki stepped closer.

"Not like you did."

Togaru glanced at him.

"But we did."

Sanemi stared between them.

"I thought you were stable enough to return home"

Denki just laughed nervously

"Couldn't leave the homie alone like that, bro, so I, you know, had to do what I had to do..."

Sanemi rolled his eyes,

"How did your parents allow that?"

Denki and Togaru just smirked,

"There were many benefits in this new rule of the QCF..."

For years...

He had thought the weight belonged to him.

The fear.

The anger.

The guilt.

The realization that the world outside the QCF wasn't some game anymore.

He had carried it alone.

Or at least...

He thought he had.

"...Why didn't anyone tell me?"

Denki gave him a small smile.

"Because you disappeared, idiot."

Sanemi's eyebrow twitched.

"...Tch."

Denki walked over and gave him a light pat on the back.

Sanemi stiffened.

"It's alright."

Denki smiled.

"We're still the same kids from back then, right?"

Sanemi looked around.

Togaru.

Denki.

The others.

For just a second, the classroom wasn't UA.

It was the QCF again.

A group of kids who had been thrown into something they were never supposed to experience.

And for a moment...

Sanemi remembered.

The smell of blood.

The cold floor beneath him.

His body refusing to move.

Someone crying.

Someone else coughing.

Then...

All Might raised another card.

"NOW THEN!"

The room quieted.

All Might flipped the card.

His grin widened.

"FOURTH MATCH!"

The room immediately became louder.

"Hero Team!"

"Kyoka Jiro!"

Jiro stood almost immediately.

"And Denki Kaminari!"

Denki shot to his feet.

"Let's go!"

All Might continued.

"Villain Team!"

"Momo Yaoyorozu!"

Momo stood, already adjusting her gloves.

"And..."

All Might looked toward the back of the room.

"Togaru Kamakiri!"

A grin slowly spread across his face.

"Finally."

He stood.

Momo was already walking toward the exit.

"Come on."

Togaru followed without hesitation.

"Right, right, on the way."

-

Inside Ground Beta, Jiro looked toward Denki.

"You're late."

"Had to talk to Sanemi."

She raised an eyebrow.

"About?"

Denki smiled.

"Old stuff."

Jiro sighed.

"Well, hurry up."

On the opposite side of the building, Momo glanced toward Togaru.

"You seem distracted."

Togaru rolled his shoulders.

"Not anymore."

Momo nodded.

"Good."

The doors shut.

The cameras activated.

The countdown appeared.

15:00

-

For the first time that day...

Sanemi was watching two classmates fight, focused, thinking they were just little boys not too long ago.

-

Jiro looked toward Denki.

"What's the plan?"

Denki looked around.

"Find the bomb."

Jiro stared at him.

"...That's it?"

"What else do you want me to say?"

She sighed.

"You're impossible."

Denki snorted in mock jest

"Hey, you're the strategist."

"I'm the one with the ears."

Denki shrugged

"Same thing."

She shook her head.

"Whatever."

She plugged both jacks into the wall.

Her expression immediately changed.

"...Wait."

Denki looked toward her.

"What?"

"I hear something."

A faint metallic sound echoed through the building.

Then another.

Then another.

Jiro's eyes narrowed.

"Multiple objects."

Denki looked around.

"Where?"

"Everywhere."

A small object rolled around the corner.

Denki stared.

"...What is that?"

Jiro's eyes widened.

"GET DOWN!"

The object exploded into a cloud of smoke.

Denki coughed.

"WHAT THE HELL?!"

Jiro grabbed his arm.

"Move!"

Something sliced through the smoke.

Denki barely ducked.

A blade struck the wall behind him.

Togaru stepped through the smoke.

His eyes locked onto Denki.

Quickly, Togaru pulled a blade free.

"Mantis Breathing."

His stance lowered.

"First Form..."

Denki backed away.

"Already?!"

Togaru smiled.

"GREEN HURRICANE."

He disappeared.

Jiro's eyes widened.

"DENKI!"

A blur crossed the hallway.

Denki barely raised his arms.

The impact sent him sliding backward.

"AAAAAH!"

Jiro slammed one of her earphone jacks into the floor.

A shockwave ripped through the hallway.

Togaru jumped over it.

"Hah!"

He landed on the wall.

Denki looked up.

"...You're faster."

Togaru grinned.

"And you're slower."

Jiro looked between them.

"...You two know each other?"

Denki got back up.

"Unfortunately."

"He's gotten better."

Denki cracked his fingers.

"So have I."

A grin spread across his face as Togaru became visible.

Togaru was already getting into his fighting stance. Smile was inscribed across his visage, battle spirit lining his eyes as Denki stared with the same intensity.

A shared memory that brought a bond like no other....

-

Their eyes opened.

They looked around.

At each other.

At Moonfish's remains.

Nobody spoke.

They didn't need to.

They had seen what happened.

They had understood what it meant.

A trembling hand clenched into a fist.

"We're going to become heroes."

Another voice followed.

"We'll stop this."

"Even if..."

A pause.

"...Even if it's the last thing we do."

-

Togaru blinked.

The hall returned to normal as he peered into Denki's eyes.

He lowered his stance again.

"Show me."

Lightning surrounded Denki as he spoke

"WILL DO!!"

The timer continued counting down.

13:23

And somewhere deeper inside the building...

Momo quietly watched the cameras.

She smiled.

"They've engaged."

She reached behind her.

A small device began forming in her hand.

"...Now we begin."
