Chapter 59 - Don't let go

Jay's POV:

"Kuya, what happened?" I asked.

But what he said next broke both mine and Keifer's hearts.

"Jay… the child officer came. They said they will take Jeenie away from us… because we have no blood relation with her, and Lily didn't make any legal agreement before handing Jeenie to us. So… the officer will come tomorrow and take her," he said.

I sat down on the couch as tears started streaming from my eyes.

"No… no… I can't let them take my daughter," I said, holding Jeenie tightly against my chest.

"Mama won't let them take you," I whispered.

"I'll talk to Mr. Ryder," Keifer said. Kuya nodded, and he left to make the call.

"Mama…" Jeenie said softly, wiping my tears. She started crying too.

"Mamaa…" she cried and hugged me tightly.

"Shh… I won't let them take you, baby," I said.

"The officer said they will come tomorrow," Kuya added.

I tightened my grip on Jeenie and nodded.

"Jay, you don't need to worry. I talked to Mr. Ryder. He will also come tomorrow," Keifer said. I nodded.

He sat next to me and held Jeenie.

"I won't let them take you, princess," he said, kissing her face.

The whole day passed like this…

Next Morning…

I woke up and got ready. Jeenie woke up too, and the first thing I did was kiss her cheeks and get her ready.

We went downstairs, had breakfast, and soon Keifer arrived with Mr. Ryder.

Kuya explained everything, and then the doorbell rang.

I quickly hid Jeenie behind my back.

"Hello, Ms. Roswel," Kuya said.

She nodded.

"So, where is the baby?" she asked.

Jeenie came out. I tried to hide her again, but the officer had already seen her.

"So she is Jeenie… and you both are her parents, right?" she asked.

Keifer and I nodded.

"Hi, Ms. Roswel. I'm Mr. Ryder, Mr. Waston's lawyer."

"Oh, you are Mr. Ryder. I've heard a lot about you. Nice to meet you," she said.

"Can we talk alone?" he asked. She nodded, and they both stepped aside.

"Jay, don't stress. Everything is going to be fine," Tita said.

I nodded.

Soon, they returned.

"So, Mr. Ryder told me everything," Ms. Roswel said. "I know you both love her… and I also know what she has been through recently. She almost died."

My heart clenched.

"Ms. Marino, I did my research. I know your parents didn't stay together, and you grew up with your grandmother," she said.

I looked down and nodded.

"And Mr. Waston… I know you recently got your inheritance, and you have many enemies. Your father…" she paused, "…killed your mother."

Keifer looked down.

"I'm not judging you based on your backgrounds," she continued. "But you both are minors. If you had legally adopted her, we wouldn't interfere. But since you haven't… we can't officially allow her to stay with you."

I held Jeenie tighter.

"But… Mr. Ryder assured me that you take good care of her, and I believe him. So I won't take her away—for now."

I felt a small sense of relief.

"But I will be keeping an eye on you. You both need to live together because the baby needs both parents. You should either get married or at least get engaged. That will ensure stability for her future."

We both nodded.

"I'll come next week to inspect your home," she said.

We nodded again, and she left.

I let out a deep breath.

"Thank God they didn't take Jeenie," Tita said, hugging her.

"But she said she'll come to check the house. She's strict," mr ryder said. "Keifer, Jay… it's better if you start living together and prepare the house for a child."

We nodded.

Kuya and Keifer thanked Mr. Ryder, and he soon left.

"So, Keifer will stay with us," I said.

"Sorry… I have to live with my brothers too. I hope you understand," Keifer replied.

Kuya sighed.

"Fine. Then Jay will go with them… but Aries will go too."

"What? Why him?" Keifer asked.

"I don't trust you both," Kuya said.

Keifer sighed and nodded.

I went upstairs and packed mine and Jeenie's bags.

I'm happy they didn't take her away…

But I have to stay alert.

One mistake and i will loose her
