Chapter 51 - Chapter 50- The Trial Of Alexia Whitewood

If the truth shall kill them, let them die.

-Immanuel Kant

In amongst all the chaos Canary sat alone on the ground. Guards ran past her, yelling and screaming was heard as Amara begged them to not take Alexia away and Alexia let them take her away. All the while Thaddeus clung on to Thomas to see if he was okay.

Ede and Eamom said something to Canary but she could not hear them. They appeared then went away for a while before coming back with Letitia who was also saying something to her. But Canady could not hear her also. Something is wet on my face. Canary thought. She looked up to see if something was dripping from the ceiling but found nothing.

She patted her face and realized it was her own tears. All Letitia could do was stare at Canary and guilt over washed her. She didn't realize it then but she realized now how all this would affect Canary. She left for a moment and reappeared with a cloth and dapped Canary's tears away. "I'm sorry". Is the first words Canary was able to hear amongst all the chaos.

Letitia hugged Canary tightly but Canary did not want to be hugged and pulled away from Letitia. Her eyes were full of tears and an expression of betrayal was on her face. This shook Letitia who realized what she and Thaddeus had done. A million thoughts went through Letitia's head one of them being Why would they think Canary would be happy to know that her father and mother aren't really her father and mother. Her whole life was now uprooted from under. How she..or anyone possibly think that Canary would be happy about this. "I'm-I'm sorry". Letitia's voice cracked.

But Canary could not bring herself to say any words; she still sat there in a daze as the guards dragged Alexia out. She didn't know what hurt more the fact that her whole life had been a lie or the fact that Alexia didn't even spare her a glance. No look of guilt, no look of asking for forgiveness..nothing. She simply obeyed the guards as they walked her out. Amara was the only person to look at Canary as she walked out. She was the only person besides Letitia who looked at her with an expression of forgiveness.

A child begging for their mothers forgiveness. That's what Amara's expression was. The only person who was able to pry Canary from off the floor was Limus even then Canary didn't talk. She didn't talk all that night and silently cried not making a noise as Limus stayed with her all night. He sat in the chair next to Canary; they both did not say a word to each other. Just sitting there silently comforting the other. They did not fall asleep that night and watched as the sun rose for their minds were full of thoughts and only until then when the sun rose were they able to go to sleep. There Limus fell asleep in the chair next to the bed of Canary.

They slept all the way into the evening and when they had awoken they still did not speak a word. They did not come from the upstairs of Longwood manor. Prompting Thaddeus to go up and check on them both. Contrary to Letitia (Who protested Thaddeus checking in on them) wanted to give them both space from the trauma that had just occurred. He should have listened to Letita because at his coming to check in on them both He was met with silence from Canary and coldness and anger from Limus.

Silent but strong as a storm did Limus meet Thaddeus with sharp words. To which Thaddeus could not dispute or say anything against him for Thaddeus in truth knew he was also wrong for not telling Canary and Limus of the matter. "If sealed lips had not revealed the truth of Canary's parentage what would you have done? Keep silent? Expose the truth in some flamboyant way"?! Limus said calmly but angrily. Thaddeus shook his head no. "No no I would have eventually exposed the truth but I had no proof since the servant girl died". "Hah". Limus scoffed.

"Its hard to believe you or anyone else for that matter since this has been kept from us". Limus said. "No matter what any of you say she is still my beloved niece"! Limus's voice began to raise. The more and more he thought about the situation the more he became angry. For it was a good thing for the truth to come out of course. But what was Thaddeus's and Letitia's plan afterwards? To take Canary away? Take her away from him? From Lyikar? Would they try to say he had no access to Canary anymore due to her not really being his niece?

He had known Canary since she was a baby. Her first word was his name. No one could deny him from Canary. No one could break the bond between him and Canary. A true parentage didn't give Thaddeus and Letitia the right to take her away from Limus. "She is still my father and mothers child and grandchild"! Limus shouted, rising up from the chair he was sitting on. "Limus I do not want to fight or argue with you". Thaddeus said reasoning with his hands. "You do not wish to fight?! Then what do you wish to do?! Take away my niece to the countryside?! Deny her from the place she's always wanted to go to"! Limus shouted once more.

"I will not have you commanding her every move, she's just met you once you were her uncle and aunt and now you are her father and mother you ought to give her time to process this"! Limus yelled. "I will give her time to process this"! Thaddeus yelled back. "You aren't, you shalt take her"! Limus yelled, stepping towards Thaddeus. "I am I will when the time comes too long I have been denied from my daughter! Too long I have been deemed mad saying my daughter is alive"! Thaddeus yelled, stepping towards Limus also. "I shall give Canary her space. I will not deny her her freedom to go back to Lyikar but you will allow me to check on my daughters well being"! The shouting ceased with Thaddeus and Limus face to face. With glares and their teeth clenched as if they could rip each others throat out.

But both knew they weren't each other's true enemies. They both knew everyone in this matter were truly hurting, most of all Canary. Canary was the one who was hurting the most in this situation. So they held their peace and took a step back from each other. Thaddeus and Limus stared at Canary who despite all the noise did not move an inch. She didn't look to stare at the two of them fighting nor did she try to break them up.

She dissociated and stared blankly out of the window. Unbeknownst to them they thought she was just in shock but inside of Canary something had sort of broken and reformed herself and in that moment of dissociation and quietness of thinking she was no longer the Canary she once was twenty four hours ago. She was entirely different and it wouldn't be until Canary drew her first blood that the others would notice this change in her.
