Cherreads

Chapter 5 - Chapter 5

"I'll destroy the shit out of you," The mercenary leader's blade flew within an inch's distance away from Isa.

"You dare take from the motherland?" A foot implanted into the mercenary's face like magnet and they both carried into the wall. "Clear the rest of the assholes!"

Dozens of men in colourful roses crashed in like scattering petals. Their blacks allowed them to move like shadows, reaping each one of the desensitised mercenaries.

The men smashed and trashed their individual isos. Punch punch kick and the mercenaries were done.

"You are a scum, do you know that?" The Dogs that arrived each wore a metallic mask covering their mouth, so their voices had a slight robotic taste. "Out of everything you decided to hunt your own lambs." The Dogs rounded them up like lambs and gathered them.

Isa sneakily gestured Jin to start to scurry away, "This guy does not like me one bit let's scadaddle."

"Why doesn't he-"

"Shhh! Lower your voice. This guy does 30% of crimes in the country because of my nosy ass but other than that he's also quite annoying."

"Oi! I can hear you from here," the captain took off his mask, clearing his voice. "I've traced your steps you asshole, did you really think I wouldn't notice the bulshit you're excreting?"

"Woah, woah, woah! Let's not use such harsh words around here. I love peace and I love…" Isa then went on and on about random topics trying to keep himself from burning on a stake.

"Shut, the fuck up. I've told you countless times that I am not signing off on anything and especially this," he took steps forward, his eyes lashed down on Isa; not with anger, but with worry. "You selfish asshole did you not care about these innocent people in this shop?!"

"Well we didn't know this was going to happen and why are you acting like I caused all this?"

There it is again on his face, the captain's face. "Stop acting stupid, dipshit. You intervened and led the mercenaries over here. I don't even know how you did it. But god knows how you knew they were gonna jump you outside the hospital. But you have the given right to defend and escape by yourself, but you decided to lead them here," Isa strung his voicechords. "And I'm not going to accept some bullshit saying you read expressions, I want a proper written report with facts! Do you understand me?!"

"Well I hope you understand that I am unable to fight-"

"There is it again with that bullshit, tell me then what did you blow, hm? You had the whistle on you this whole time and you decide to blow it now? I'm so excited to see what kind of bullshit you're gonna come up with."

Isa clenched his face, and released. He fidgeted his fingers, massaged his arms, and rubbed his belly. "Right."

The captain looked to his right and moved the rubble around.

Isa cleared his throat, "I mean you're right it was my fault, I agree." The captain's face lit up.

"I fully apologise and I'll do my best to do my best. Let's go Jin."

"What was that?" Jin questioned Isa as they left the obedient dogs to search for bones.

"What was what? The friendly romantic chatter we had? Well the main way I earn is from giving valuable info to the nation but information is hard to come by," He shuffled his palms and wiped grime off his face like a fly. "But to compensate, the Mercenary King allows me to get a commission for every criminal that I am able to arrest. But this guy thinks I orchestrate every call and I split the earnings among them which is mad!"

Something in Jin's heart rattled, it felt like a seniled familiar fire, it shook and shuddered Jin's head. He could feel the slight severance between his mind and soul.

"You intervened and led…" Jin remembered these few words.

'This captain might be onto something. There wasn't any reason for Isa to drag me through the back alleys and there's no way that he managed to predict that," Jin remembered that the whole time when he was with Logan the windows told him that they were several floors up high and-'

"Long train of thoughts you got there," Isa smirked, his eyes screamed like a chicken with no head. His eyes flipped back and forth pages; not making eye-contact but eating Jin's thoughts. "No way, you suspect me?"

"I-um-uh…"

"Next time you have doubts or breakthroughs please keep a straight face, you are too easy for your enemies to read."

The sun was shining on their backs and their shadows elongated. They savoured the streets of land of the Band of Mercenaries. Hundreds of old schooled styled stalls lined up endlessly. The never-ending painting dragged on alongside the chatter of laymen. The brushstroke drew and drew and drew. 'This is so nauseating.' The roofs and conflicting colours did not help either. Jin's eyes were torn apart by the kaleidoscope. 'It looks like I can't take this.'

Thump, thump, piak.

"Careful there," it looks like they've reached Jin's living quarters. But isn't it a shop?"

"Well yeah it's a shop duh, you'll be living upstairs," Isa reached into his pockets and flicked the keys into Jin's hands. "I'll see you in a week, get yourself comfortable with this new environment and train your body. You'll be doing way more soon. Call me if you need anything."

Like the winds he left quickly, leaving Jin all alone.
