Chapter 136 - Chapter 137: Can Corpses Fly?

Heiji had some impression of this case.

But, from the clues at the scene, the killer's method had changed.

Just like the bandage monster incident, the killer hadn't changed, but the method was completely different.

[But, using bandages for that method seems a bit forced, doesn't it?]

Heiji looked at Tonoyama Jusan's fingers.

He frowned.

"Heiji, have you already solved this case?" Inspector Megure said expectantly.

Heiji shook his head: Still missing one decisive piece of evidence!

Eri Kisaki glanced at Heiji and walked next to the body.

"Inspector Megure, what was the fatal wound?"

Inspector Megure gave Eri Kisaki a strange look.

"She was stabbed in the heart and bled to death. Mrs. Kisaki, is there any question about that?"

"Then it's very strange, why are there two ligature marks on the victim's neck," Eri Kisaki said lightly.

Inspector Megure looked at the body doubtfully, then said in realization: "There really are two ligature marks."

"But, it's also possible the killer first wrapped a rope around the victim's neck to extort money."

"However, because the victim didn't cooperate, the killer angrily killed her."

"If so, there should be signs of a struggle nearby, but not a single trace was found."

Eri Kisaki's glasses reflected a flash of light.

"Does Mrs. Kisaki mean she was strangled with a rope after being killed? But why would the killer do that?"

Eri Kisaki held her chin: "I don't know either."

Inspector Megure was stunned, then gave a wry smile.

"Perhaps it's really as I said, and this ligature mark doesn't mean anything."

"No, that ligature mark is very important," Conan suddenly said.

Heiji didn't speak.

He had grasped the general clues, just missing the decisive evidence.

However, if Conan could deduce it, it would save a lot of trouble.

"Huh?" Inspector Megure looked at Conan in surprise.

"Inspector Megure, if you were someone from the coffee shop, how would you kill the victim and then make it look like a robbery-murder," Conan asked.

Inspector Megure considered a few ideas, but none seemed to work.

"That's impossible, right? Unless the corpse could walk in by itself and block the door, there's no way."

"But, corpses really can fly."

Conan said suddenly, naively.

Inspector Megure frowned, looking at Conan unhappily: "Conan, this isn't a place for you to play around."

"Inspector Megure, the stall might not be the primary crime scene."

"It's possible she was killed and then the body was dumped into the stall, creating the illusion that she died inside."

"Kid, that's what you mean, right?"

Heiji glanced at Conan, his look made Conan's hair stand on end.

It was because Heiji suddenly paid attention to him that Conan changed his tone.

"But, if that's the case, they must have thrown the person in through the window."

"In that case, wouldn't it still be someone from outside who committed the crime," Inspector Megure said seriously.

"Actually, you can also put the body in from outside the stall."

Eri Kisaki raised her head and looked at the gap between the stall and the ceiling.

"No way, that gap... can a person fit through it?" Inspector Megure said in surprise.

"We'll know if we try."

Eri Kisaki looked at Heiji, her lips pursed into a strange curve: "Mr. Hattori, shouldn't you go verify the results of your deduction?"

Heiji ignored Eri Kisaki directly: "Sumeragi Yuichi, you go try it."

"Me?" Sumeragi Yuichi, who wore glasses, frowned.

"Sir, please cooperate," Inspector Megure said seriously.

Sumeragi Yuichi was scared and immediately agreed.

"To avoid disturbing the scene, use this stall."

Heiji pointed to the last stall.

Eri Kisaki and Conan frowned.

They didn't understand why he didn't choose the first one; that stall seemed closer.

Sumeragi Yuichi went into the stall and managed to climb out.

"It really works?" Inspector Megure was dumbfounded.

"Sumeragi Yuichi's build is slightly larger than the victim's."

"In fact, the killer could easily put the victim in from the outside," Eri Kisaki said lightly.

"If so, then this person must be very strong."

"Although the victim was a woman, she weighed over 100 pounds. It would be impossible without some strength."

Saying this, Inspector Megure looked at the bulky Tonoyama Jusan.

[That's right, only Tonoyama Jusan here could do it.]

Conan looked coldly at Tonoyama Jusan. He also suspected this person was the killer.

"You... why are you looking at me? It wasn't me, I'm not the killer." Tonoyama Jusan waved his hands frantically, looking scared and simple-minded.

"Mr. Tonoyama, you could probably lift a person easily, right?" Inspector Megure said suspiciously.

"I can, but I'm really not the killer," Tonoyama Jusan denied.

"But you are the most suspicious person here. I'm sorry, please come with us," Inspector Megure said seriously.

"What right do you have to take me?"

"If you can throw someone in there, why couldn't the killer kill them and then climb out from the inside?" Tonoyama Jusan shouted angrily.

The bathroom instantly fell silent.

Eri Kisaki frowned: That method also seems possible.

Heiji glanced lightly at Tonoyama Jusan, frowning: Sure enough, the method completely changed.

But, where is the decisive evidence? It must be something on him.

"Mr. Tonoyama is right, if they climbed out from the inside, then the people who fit the criteria are Sumeragi Yuichi..."

"And the lawyer lady."

Conan finished Inspector Megure's sentence.

"It does seem that way," Eri Kisaki chuckled lightly.

"How could that be, how could Mrs. Kisaki be the killer," Inspector Megure waved his hand with a dry laugh.

"Why not? When you police investigate, do you just rely on feelings?"

"Three suspects, so why say I'm the killer," Tonoyama Jusan said coldly.

Eri Kisaki smiled lightly: "Inspector Megure, you can check the horizontal bar above the stalls."

"If someone really climbed over it, you should be able to see something."

Inspector Megure quickly had an officer climb up.

"How is it? Find anything?"

"Inspector Megure, there's nothing."

The officer's words made Eri Kisaki frown.

Heiji glanced at Eri Kisaki and shook his head helplessly.

"Officer, now compare it to the bar Sumeragi Yuichi just climbed over, and see what the difference is."

Soon, the officer's eyes lit up.

"I get it. Inspector Megure, this bar is covered in dust."

"If someone climbed over it, their body would have definitely wiped off the dust."

"But the bar above the victim's stall is still covered in dust."

"In other words, Mr. Tonoyama, the situation you described doesn't exist," Inspector Megure said, looking seriously at Tonoyama Jusan.

"It really wasn't me, I didn't kill anyone." Tonoyama Jusan's face changed drastically.

"Please come with us."

"Damn it, saying I'm the killer! You need proof! Where's the proof?" Tonoyama Jusan roared.
