Mrs. Manherob, the librarian, was behind the counter, tying her hair into a bun.
"Mrs. Manherob," I said as I approached. "I'd like to return a book."
I pulled the book from my bag and placed it on the counter. After finishing her hair, she picked it up and looked at the cover. Her eyebrows lifted slightly before she looked back at me.
"Stilldark, huh?" she said with a small smile. "If nobody knows anything about it, why are there hundreds of books written about it? Doesn't make any sense."
"That was exactly what I was wondering." I rested an elbow on the counter. "It was an interesting read, though. Lots of theories. What do you think the Stilldark really is, Mrs. Manherob?"
"I believe it's a realm," she replied. "A place where monsters roam. A place where Ambly left a part of herself to grow stronger."
I frowned. "A part of herself?"
"Her sanity."
She slid the book onto a nearby stack.
