Chapter 342 - Chapter 342: Kirin, the End of All Things

Faintly luminous threads connected wands to the protective dome, through which magical power flowed continuously to reinforce its defensive capabilities.

Standing atop the stone pillar, Kyle calmly watched the Death Eaters below labor in vain, a cold arch curling at the corner of his lips.

He knew all too well that the power of the Lightning Release: Kirin he was casting this time far surpassed any previous instance.

The thunderclouds in the sky were not merely the fruit of the Thunderbird's hard work; while fighting the Death Eaters earlier, Kyle had consistently maintained part of his focus on upholding the weather spell.

Only under the support of an Obscurial's majestic magical power could thunderclouds of such a terrifying scale be created.

With only around thirty Death Eaters remaining on the grounds, even if they drained every last drop of their magical power to cast defensive charms, it would be utterly impossible to withstand it.

Kyle waited leisurely until the protective dome fully took shape, and then the icy smile at the corner of his mouth vanished in an instant.

Slashing his arm downward abruptly, Kirin plummeted in tandem with Kyle's movement.

"Let this end everything," Kyle blurted out without a second thought. "Tengai..."

Sorry, accidentally misspoke.

If he weren't afraid of sending himself along to the afterlife, the magic Kyle was casting right now might genuinely have been Tengai Shinsei.

Magic was a very unreasonable, mind-driven entity.

Take a spell like the Summoning Charm—it was entirely a bug-level spell.

Normally, to summon an object over, one ought to at least sense its existence first, right?

Yet the Summoning Charm required no such thing.

Back when he wasn't yet an Obscurial, Kyle had casually raised a hand in the Forbidden Forest and shouted "Accio Broom!", and his Fat Lightning broomstick—miles away in the castle—could automatically track and fly right to him.

His perception couldn't possibly span a distance of several kilometers; even his Dad Albus couldn't pull off such a feat.

Now that he had become an Obscurial, the effective range of his Summoning Charm had skyrocketed to an absurd degree.

Kyle had zero doubt he could use the Summoning Charm to drag an asteroid down from space. However, how large the dragged asteroid would be, how fast it would fall, or what impact it would have on the Earth...

None of that was within Kyle's control.

The cloud layer in the sky pressed down extremely low; to a Kirin nearly three kilometers in length, the meager distance between the clouds and the ground was virtually nonexistent.

In the blink of an eye, Kirin pressed its ferocious double claws down onto the protective dome with an all-destroying fury.

A massive orb of blinding white light expanded across the camp. The entire earth trembled as everything in the light orb's path turned to dust, with surging air currents rolling out in all directions.

The defensive magic cast jointly by the Death Eaters failed to offer any respectable resistance; the moment the giant lightning claws pressed down on the shield, it was shredded to pieces by energy capable of leveling heaven and earth.

The lightning storm raged through the camp, and only after nearly a full minute did the roaring, destructive lightning gradually subside.

When the last trace of lightning's glow faded away, Kyle was somewhat surprised to discover that this group of Dark wizards was actually still alive.

"Interesting," Kyle's gaze wandered across the area, finally landing on two somewhat hazy black shadows at the edge of the battlefield. "So you had helpers?"

When the lightning struck down just now, he had indeed felt a surge of magical fluctuations.

It was just that the commotion created by Kirin was far too immense, making Kyle think that wave of fluctuation was merely a trick of his mind. Looking at it now, was it the handiwork of those two mysterious wizards?

Well, it didn't really matter either way.

Kyle looked up at the clouds in the sky. "So, what are you going to do about the second Kirin?"

The sheer amount of electric charge accumulated inside the thundercloud was terrifying, on the verge of turning into an ocean of plasma.

The Kirin that had just descended had consumed merely a third of the charges within the thundercloud. In other words, if Kyle wished, an attack like that could be unleashed twice more.

Gazing at the gigantic lightning beast emerging once more in the sky—far larger than the previous one—Snape's entire face turned dark.

What in the absolute hell is this!?

Is this a spell a fourteen-year-old student is capable of casting!?

Forget fourteen years old—even when he was thirty-four, he didn't possess such absurd power.

Had he not relied on the Resurrection Stone continuously drawing magical power from the Underworld to reinforce the protective dome, he would have been dead meat by now.

He suddenly felt as though his entire life had been lived in vain.

The speed at which the Resurrection Stone drew magical power had already reached its limit. This time, Kyle clearly intended to deliver a one-hit kill, leaving Snape with even less time to prepare.

Which meant he likely wouldn't be able to block this second lightning beast.

Snape abandoned any thought of staying put to wait for death. Raising his wand, he swished it violently toward the distant group of Death Eaters, sending a beam of light through the air that struck the open ground in the center of the crowd.

Chains bursting forth from the earth tightly bound most of the people together; as for the remaining few standing too far away, he couldn't attend to them, so he could only offer his apologies.

Relying on the magic drawn by the Resurrection Stone in the brief dozen-or-so seconds before the lightning beast struck down, Snape forcibly pried open the Anti-Apparition barrier, vanishing on the spot along with Lucius and the group of Death Eaters.

Only then did the lightning beast in the sky crash down.

Standing atop the stone pillar, Kyle curled his lip in disdain. "They actually managed to run..."

Raising his head to glance at the Dark Mark in the sky still emitting a sickly green light, Kyle couldn't help but let out a contemptuous laugh. "Heh, a bunch of stray dogs."

Whatever, let them run.

If this group truly represented the Death Eaters under Voldemort's command, then Voldemort was truly pitiable.

The grand Dark Lord, reduced to such a state.

Without a single capable right-hand man to show for his name—and he called himself the Second Dark Lord?

Shaking his head, Kyle looked toward Max beside him, who had been acting as a human surveillance monitor the entire time. "Let's go back."

The moment his words landed, a series of pop-pop-pop sounds echoed in the sky. Twenty wizards descended from above, surrounding the stone pillar they stood on.

Judging by their attire, these people were all Aurors from the Ministry of Magic.

Every single one of these Aurors drew their wands, pointing them straight at the stone pillar where Kyle and Max stood.

Kyle: ???

Just now, when he was fighting the Death Eaters...

No, when he was beating the Death Eaters to a pulp and shattering the earth, the Anti-Apparition barrier around the camp hadn't even risen yet, yet not a single trace of these people could be seen.

Now that the battle was over and the Anti-Apparition barrier had been removed, these people popped up out of nowhere, ready to subdue them like criminals?

Kyle's eyes narrowed. The Susanoo surrounding his body—which hadn't had time to dissipate—condensed a burning Fiendfyre broadsword in each of its four arms.

Battle was on the verge of breaking out.
