Silva turned around to find his next opponent, who was floating in the sky. He had an androgynous face, but his voice was clearly male. He also had two wings on his back and was radiating pure energy.
Silva took the bow he had thrown away earlier. The energy radiated by the new individual was stronger than any opponent he had faced till now, but even then, he knew he could handle it with his current strength.
"So, are you the last one I will be facing, I suppose?" Silva spoke as he readied himself.
"Yes, powerful intruder. I will be the last of the god's envoys that will face you, seeing that our other warriors were not up to the task," he said as he waved his hand, and immediately all the injured warriors were moved to a distance.
For a moment, the only sounds surrounding everyone were the unconscious groans of the warriors who were pushed away from the battlefield.
The half-angel's eyes glowed for a moment, and suddenly Silva took a step back.
'Did he analyse me or something? I felt like I was seen through,' Silva thought as suddenly his scarf glowed slightly.
The half-angel raised his brow slightly. He tried to analyse again but was unsuccessful, and then he stopped.
"It seems you are stronger than I can handle right now. So this battle won't be long," the angel said as he brought his hands together.
Silva closed his eyes as the light intensified, but within moments, he was able to see and look at what had happened.
This time, he was in another barrier, but unlike the other, which looked like a screen that glowed slightly, this looked like a cage made out of hieroglyphics of unknown origin. The symbols kept on moving everywhere, from the ground under his feet to the sky a few dozen feet above his head. He looked around and saw that he was surrounded on all sides as well with similar symbols that kept on moving constantly.
He looked in front of him, where the half-angel was now standing on the ground, looking straight at him.
Silva thought about escaping the trap using brute force, but his instincts told him it was impossible. This was not the instinct he got as a gift from Jason. It was the pure instinct he had as a demigod from his mothers. This trap or cage, whatever it is, is not purely Christian in origin. It seemed to be related to the most primal power present within the world—the power that enforced the ancient rules and made sure the gods and people suffered the consequences of breaking them. He cannot escape until he fulfils some kind of condition.
"Oh sinner, this cage was formed seeing that your strength was more than I can handle. But don't worry, soon you will face the judgement for your actions," he said as he brought his hands together once more.
Suddenly Silva felt the hair on the back of his neck stand up and immediately created an arrow on his bow. He had created it using his stamina and combined it with the Egyptian artifact power from the bracelet as well. The arrow, at its core, was an explosion arrow.
It was the strongest arrow he had ever created in his life, but even then, he felt that it would not even scratch his opponent if he fired it right now.
The opponent's face suddenly took on a surprised expression.
"Egyptian? That is surprising. I thought that your power originated from somewhere else, since you used arrows. I never imagined Egyptian wizards to use this weapon in this age." His expression calmed down. "No matter, it makes it easier for me to complete the explanation of these rules, as it was derived a bit from your own systems."
He then pushed his hands outward.
"This is the barrier of champions, created according to the rules of the world. Here, what gets judged is the connection between the warrior and their god, along with the power of their gods themselves. It's similar to how you Egyptians become avatars of your own gods. Now imagine the god you can connect with the most. If they acknowledge you, you can use their full power in this battle. If not, this battle will end now. I have asked for the help of my God; it's now your turn. But even if you manage to call upon your god, I am sorry to say you will not win," he replied, with a bit of pride in his voice at the end.
Silva understood the entire mechanism. This is just like kids calling their parents when they feel like they cannot win their battle. And Silva also understood why the opponent was so confident when he used this move.
The gods need to be worshipped for them to have power. That is the reason why they don't destroy the world with a flood like they did before in every pantheon at least once. According to a few forbidden archives he had read from Chiron's collections, all the pantheons had decided to flood the world at the same time and had killed almost all of the humans present on the planet. But the moment they did, all of them weakened heavily at the same time. That's when they realised the significance of humans' belief in them. So all of them collectively decided to stop any extinction-level attacks on humans and then began to fight against each other to get more followers.
And as a modern person, Silva already knew which religion had won that bet. The confidence shown by the opponent is not unfounded, as this spell of theirs would guarantee their victory in any fight they face. The only reason they might not have used it might have been because there was a condition or weakness to its usage.
"So, are you ready to accept your punishment?" the half-angel asked.
Silva smiled.
"This spell, at its end, depends upon the power of the god they call upon, right?" he asked.
The opponent was confused by such a question at this moment but still replied.
"Yes, that is correct. What's the use of speaking about it now?" he replied and asked.
"Well, every spell has a weakness out there," Silva said as he closed his eyes to call a person who would answer in such a situation.
"The greatest weakness of this spell is my existence," he spoke as he got an answer to his call.
A/N – Sorry about this, guys. I am in the middle of doing my final year project and paper, so the chances of regular updates are really low for the foreseeable future. Sorry about this.
