I walked back to where my sisters were seated.
Liu Ruyan was already done cooking, and she looked up briefly as I approached.
"The food is ready," she said.
I sat down without replying.
She handed me a plate.
I took it.
Just as I was about to eat, footsteps came closer.

He had changed into the clothes I gave him. The blood was gone, and he looked clean.
I glanced at him once.
Then I handed him my plate.
He paused for a moment before taking it.
"Thank you," he said.
Then he sat down beside me.
Liu Ruyan looked at us, her eyes sharp, while Liu Muyan simply smiled.
"Muyan," Liu Ruyan said quietly.
"Give her another plate," Liu Muyan replied.
Ruyan did not argue. She handed me another portion.
I took it.
No one spoke again.
We ate quietly as the fire burned and the night settled around us.
For once—
Everything was calm.
After eating, the camp slowly quieted down as people began to settle for the night.
