Chapter 431 - Chapter 431: The Legendary Island

Chapter 431: The Legendary Island

Seeking Themyscira

Poseidon Chill Steel, like Amazon Metal, is a super-metal. Compared to the latter, the former has a certain limitation: it can only perform powerfully where there is water. Without a water source, its strength is significantly reduced.

Luke Shaw planned to use it to create Phantom Unit 4: The Aquafloat Armor.

After arriving in the Atlantic, life returned to its previous rhythm. Every day, he was either lying in a deck chair, sipping a cold drink and sunbathing, or diving into the deep sea with the two beauties. In his spare time, he drafted the design for Phantom Unit 4, and at night, he would roll around with Carol Ferris, largely pretending that the large third wheel, Mera, didn't exist.

The comfortable life was intoxicating. At times, Luke Shaw even wondered if he had reached paradise.

Speaking of paradise, he suddenly remembered something.

"Mera, have you ever heard of the Amazons?"

Cough, cough, cough!!!!

The Princess of Xebel, who was drinking juice, coughed violently.

"How do you know about them?"

"Through myths and some surviving books. They say the Amazons are all women, each brave, skilled in battle, and possessing extraordinary martial power. Then, for some unknown reason, they suddenly vanished."

"The Atlantean heritage has never been broken. There should be some relevant records, right?"

"Why are you asking about this?"

"Just curious."

Mera thought for a moment, then said soberly, "In our historical archives, there are indeed descriptions of the Amazons, but they are all negative accounts. Due to differences in beliefs and culture, the relationship between our two races was very poor, and wars often broke out. Then the Amazons vanished, and the record stops there."

Luke Shaw chuckled. "Well, I happen to have a piece of intelligence about the Amazons. Sixty years ago, a British pilot got lost over the ocean. After flying through a sky thick with dark clouds, he reached a sunlit island inhabited only by women, all of whom were physically strong and immensely powerful."

He paused and looked out at the sea.

"Based on the information left by the pilot, the legendary island should be in this region."

Mera looked at him strangely. "You're not thinking of going to see it, are you?"

"Why not?"

Luke Shaw spread his hands and said half-jokingly, "An island of only women—isn't that a man's paradise?"

Mera mentally cursed him. Men are no good. Eating what's in their bowl, eyeing what's on the pot, and still thinking about what's in the basin. This phrase was something she learned from Carol, and it perfectly described a certain someone.

Luke Shaw cleared his throat. "Alright, no more jokes. The reason I'm looking for that island is for a metal: Amazon Metal. Like Poseidon Chill Steel, it is a super-material with magical properties. I need it to enhance the Float Armor."

Mera asked, confused, "Your armor is already powerful enough. You still need to enhance it?"

"Power is only relative," Luke Shaw said seriously. "Against a truly powerful being, the Float Armor has many weaknesses. It is far from being called invincible."

Carol walked up from behind, placing her fingers on Luke Shaw's forehead and gently massaging it.

"Excessive pursuit of power isn't a good thing."

Luke Shaw patted her arm. "Don't worry, I know what I'm doing."

Mera couldn't stand the sight of the two of them showing affection. She coughed. "You want me to help you find the legendary island."

"That island is covered by some kind of magic and cannot be observed with the naked eye. We can only search for it step by step. The ocean is Atlantean territory; I'm sure you have a way."

Mera pondered for a moment, resting her chin on her hand.

"I can have the fish try, but I can't guarantee anything."

Luke Shaw said earnestly, "If you succeed, I'll design an armor for you—a super-armor forged with Poseidon Chill Steel."

Mera's heart stirred, but she couldn't help but scoff.

"You are such an annoying guy."

With that, she turned and leaped into the sea.

Carol said helplessly, "She would have done it wholeheartedly even if you hadn't offered."

"I just didn't want you to misunderstand."

"Oh, please!"

Carol rolled her eyes at him. "Heaven knows what you're plotting now."

Though she said this, she was inwardly pleased. The fact that Luke Shaw actively kept his distance from a girl like Mera showed that he cared about her feelings.

Arrival at Themyscira

Mera also possessed the bloodline of the first King of Atlantis and could communicate with marine life to a certain extent. Thanks to her efforts, all the fish in the nearby sea were mobilized.

Looking down from the sky, one could clearly see a line of fish stretching across the sea surface, scanning the area from north to south and east to west, sweeping over hundreds of square kilometers of ocean at once.

After five hours of searching, a landmass not marked on any map finally appeared.

Luke Shaw quickly piloted the ship to the marked location. The view was clear blue—nothing there. Carol asked, confused,

"Is it really here?"

Mera, looking somewhat exhausted, nodded. "The fish told me there is land here."

"But I don't see anything!"

"It's normal not to see it," Luke Shaw explained. "Some things cannot be seen with the naked eye."

Luke Shaw smiled faintly, his eyes flashing green. He could clearly see the air barrier shrouding the sky and the terrible weather behind the barrier.

Magic was truly amazing. Outside was sunny and beautiful; inside was wind and rain.

"Let's go. Let's go see the legendary island."

Luke Shaw put on the Float Armor, picked up the two beauties, and leaped up. After passing through the thin air film, they were immediately met by a bolt of lightning.

The lightning struck down from the dark clouds, hitting the energy shield heavily and making it shake.

Carol looked around curiously. Gale-force winds, pouring rain, thunder, and a sea of turbulence. No one would have expected such terror just a wall away. No wonder the legendary island had never appeared in the outside world. In this environment, let alone a fishing boat, even an aircraft carrier couldn't pass safely.

"Luke, you were right! There really is an island!"

Mera shouted excitedly. "Put me in the water quickly! I'll take you there from underwater."

Luke Shaw agreed with the suggestion. The dark clouds overhead gave him an inexplicable sense of oppression, as if he were being watched by something terrifying, and the lightning carried a magical signature in addition to electrical energy.

Steve Trevor was incredibly lucky to have found Paradise Island while flying a World War II plane.

Luck is truly something science cannot explain.

The three submerged underwater. Led by Mera, they passed through the storm-ridden sea and reached a sunny beach.

Suddenly, a whooshing sound broke the air.

Clang!

An arrow flew at high speed, striking the body shield and falling to the ground.

Luke Shaw looked up. Two women appeared on the cliffs on either side. They wore corseted armor and protective skirts. One held a longbow, and the other held a flail. They were extremely tall, estimated to be at least 1.75 meters (5'9") or taller, with well-defined muscles glistening with a bronze glow in the sun.

After missing with the first shot, the warrior with the longbow fired again, but before the arrow could reach them, it was shattered mid-air by an energy wave.

Carol frowned. "What should we do?"

Luke Shaw said without hesitation,

"Knock them out first."
