Chapter 428: Who is the King of Atlantis? (1)
The Battle Begins
The trident emitted a glow like water waves.
Boom!
The ground exploded, and the soil surged like an ocean wave. A milky white light wave spread through the air.
Luke Shaw charged straight ahead, letting the light wave hit his body. The kinetic energy was absorbed by the armor and converted into energy stored within its plates.
Orm's expression remained unchanged. He raised the trident and swung it forward forcefully.
Clang!
The sound of metal collision exploded in the air. Luke Shaw raised his arm to block the trident. The blade, laden with moisture, constantly sliced through the outer particles, which were immediately replenished by new ones.
"Your weapon is quite good."
Luke Shaw leaped up, then suddenly plummeted down, striking the trident with both legs. He immediately twisted his body, delivering a whip-kick straight to Orm's chest. Orm let go of his weapon and blocked with his right fist.
Bang!
The force transferred through his arm constricted his chest, forcing him to retreat three steps.
Luke Shaw seized the opportunity, using both hands and feet to launch a relentless, storm-like attack.
The battle began on the beach and soon moved to the foot of the hill. The shockwaves generated by their fight left large craters in the surroundings. Watching from a distance, Vulko and the others clenched their fists, unable to hide their tension.
Prince Orm is actually being pushed back? How is that possible?
On the surface of the sea nearby, Maria, who had accompanied Nereus, suddenly spoke.
"Your Majesty, something is wrong."
Nereus frowned. "What is wrong?"
"That surface-dweller is holding back."
Nereus shook his head coldly.
"Maria, don't let anger blind you. Armor is a weapon. No matter how powerful its performance, it needs someone to control it. As the First Female Warrior of Xebel, haven't you noticed the surface-dweller's weakness?"
Maria froze instantly. Nereus glanced at her and continued,
"With the armor's enhancement, his strength, defense, and linear speed have all increased to a terrifying degree, but other aspects are very ordinary. The body inside that armor is just an ordinary person. His reaction time, adaptability, and speed of attack are all half a beat slower than Orm's."
"Fast speed, yet slow attacks. What does that indicate?"
Maria bowed her head deeply. "I was wrong, Your Majesty."
Nereus ignored her and focused on the front.
The Duel Escalates
The fight entered a white-hot phase from the start. Orm's power and speed were inferior to his opponent's, and he was being suppressed. Gradually, he began to notice some strange things.
The opponent's linear speed was frighteningly fast, yet his reaction speed was erratic—sometimes quick, sometimes slow.
The constantly changing rhythm made him extremely uncomfortable, and he narrowly avoided being hit in vital areas several times. However, as the fight progressed, the hidden truth became clearer.
After being kicked away once more, Orm took the opportunity to land on a distant rock. He wiped the blood from his mouth, his expression revealing excitement.
"So, you are just an ordinary person."
Luke Shaw didn't bother to reply, charging forward.
Boom!
The three-meter-tall boulder was instantly shattered. Orm leaped into the air, swinging his trident and speaking as he did so.
"Your armor is strong, but your body is weak. It's not you fighting; it's the armor. It is guiding you in battle."
Luke Shaw chuckled coldly and fired an energy blast.
Orm swung his weapon, deflecting the blast elsewhere. After landing, he continued,
"Pathetic surface-dweller. To have such a weapon yet fail to unleash its full power—it's truly laughable."
Luke Shaw stared at him strangely. After a moment's thought, he spoke.
"The Float Armor was designed by me, so naturally, I know how to use its full power. The reason I haven't is that you don't qualify."
"Your Highness, if this is all the skill you have, I'm going to be very disappointed."
"You won't be disappointed."
Orm raised his trident high. The weapon emitted a milky white light wave. The surrounding moisture seemed to be drawn to him like swallows returning to their nest. The mist condensed, forming balls of water flow.
As the trident danced, the water flow rotated, growing larger and faster. The high-speed water currents cut the air, making a sizzling sound.
Atlanteans are born with the superpower to manipulate seawater. Ordinary people can turn seawater into water whips or vortices for attack. The royal family, however, can control water molecules, making them spin at high speed to become an invincible cutting tool.
Puff!
A blade of water slashed through the air, striking the Float Armor hard. The powerful cutting force left a slight dent on the armor's surface, which then immediately disappeared. Luke Shaw held up a finger and beckoned twice, indicating for him to continue.
Orm's expression didn't change. He swung his weapon with full force. Gradually, the seawater was affected, the waves surging and falling. A giant wave, over ten meters high, suddenly rose and engulfed the shore, rushing toward the two men.
Orm jumped onto the wave. The water blade merged with the seawater, chopping down like a massive, several-dozen-meter-long saber.
Boom!
The sound of the impact echoed toward the sky. The rocks shattered, and a several-dozen-meter-long cut appeared on the cliff face. The cut was smooth and flawless.
Below the cut, Luke Shaw looked up expressionlessly, the still-falling water blade resting on his head. The impact from the water blade merged into the Float Armor, and the particles expanded outward like opening flower petals.
"Counting the time, it should be time to end this."
"Goodbye, Prince."
A red light flashed across the sky. Luke Shaw appeared bizarrely behind Orm. He spread his five fingers, and a gigantic energy blast shot from his palm. In that instant, the entire world turned brilliant white.
Amidst the rumbling vibrations, the mountain began to collapse. The falling debris was constantly vaporized by the energy blast. Orm, who was directly in the center of the blast, was bleeding profusely, like a leech crushed by an elephant.
The energy blast possessed destructive power. After penetrating the cliff, it continued unabated until it vanished at the edge of the visible horizon.
Rumble!
The mountain could not withstand the force and collapsed, burying the two men underneath.
"Your Highness!"
Vulko was horrified and immediately dispatched his men to rush toward the island.
Nereus didn't hesitate and followed suit. Mera took the opportunity to find Carol, who was observing from above.
"What is Luke doing? Does he really think winning this fight will end the conflict? I know Orm too well. Regardless of the outcome, he will start the war."
Carol smiled wryly and shook her head. "Honestly, I don't know either."
Mera angrily stamped her foot. She suddenly thought of something and asked in terror,
"He isn't trying to kill him, is he?"
Carol froze. "He shouldn't. If he kills Orm, Atlantis will retaliate fiercely. He wouldn't be that stupid."
"Then what is he planning? I'm so worried!"
Carol said helplessly,
"You'll know soon enough."
Meanwhile, under the collapsed cliff, a milky white energy shield isolated the surrounding rocks. The blood-soaked Orm stared fiercely at the surface-dweller in front of him.
"Why did you save me?"
Save you?
Luke Shaw gave a strange smile, raising his palm. Green fire shot out from his palm, carrying a coldness that seeped into the soul.
Orm's pupils narrowed to pinpricks. He couldn't help but say,
"Superpowers! You're actually a metahuman."
Luke Shaw shook his head. "I'm not a metahuman. Forget it, you wouldn't understand even if I told you."
"Number Two, come out!"
