# Chapter 166: Consecutive Synchro vs. Rank-Up-Magic
Successive 5 flashes of blade light, shimmering with electricity, slashed towards the cards on Shun Kurosaki's Field. Shun Kurosaki calmly raised his hand: "Continuous Spell, 'Raidraptor - Intercept's' Effect activates! Once per Turn, you can negate the effect of a card that targets a "Raidraptor" monster on your Field!"
A silver light shield slowly rose, blocking the whistling lightning-charged blades.
"So you were prepared?" Crow chuckled. "Makes sense. If you were an easy opponent, you wouldn't have made such a name for yourself in the Underground Duel Arena."
"'Blackwing - Gale the Whirlwind's' Effect activates! Once per Turn, you can target 1 face-up Monster on your opponent's Field; that opponent's monster's ATK and DEF become half."
As Crow's words fell, 'Gale the Whirlwind' flapped its wings, stirring up a hurricane that blew towards a Machine-Type Raptor on Shun Kurosaki's Field.

"Next, I Tune my Level 1 'Blackwing - Bora the Spear' with the Level 6 'Blackwing - Zephyros the Elite'!"
"Sodden black wings, echo amidst the torrential rain! A thunderous strike! Synchro Summon! Break through! Level 7! 'Assault Blackwing - Chidori the Rain Sprinkling'!"
The 'Path of Stars', shimmering with electricity, glowed once more. Dark clouds ascended, and amidst the thunder, another fully armored, blade-wielding Bird-Beast warrior emerged from the thunderclouds, appearing beside its companions.

"'Blackwing - Bora the Spear's' Effect activates when it becomes Synchro Material and is sent to the Graveyard! Change the Battle Position of 1 monster on your opponent's Field."
The phantom of a Black Crow darted out from behind 'Assault Blackwing - Chidori the Rain Sprinkling', crashing head-first into the Machine-Type Raptor that had just been affected by the hurricane.
'Raidraptor - Force Strix' DEF: 1500 → ATK: 550
"Did you forget my Trap Card's Effect?" Shun Kurosaki reminded. "Continuous Trap, 'Raidraptor - Target Flag's' Effect activates! If the targeted monster leaves the Field, destroy this Card, then reveal your opponent's Hand, and destroy all Cards of the same type as the Card you Draw with this Card's Effect!"
Crow had no choice but to reveal his remaining 3 cards in his Hand: one Monster Card, one Spell Card, and one Trap Card.
"The Card I just drew was a Monster Card, so send the monster in your Hand to the Graveyard." Shun Kurosaki stated.
Crow smiled indifferently at this, and after sending the last monster in his Hand to the Graveyard, he raised his hand and said:
"'Assault Blackwing - Chidori the Rain Sprinkling's' Attack Points increase by 300 for each "Blackwing" monster in the Graveyard! In my Graveyard, there are now 5 "Blackwing" monsters, so this Card's Attack Points increase by 1500!"

"I Tune my Level 3 'Blackwing - Gale the Whirlwind' with the Level 4 'Blackwing - Zephyros the Elite'!"
"Beastmaster protecting wings of jet black, descend here and now! Synchro Summon! Appear! Level 7! 'Blackwing Tamer - Obsidian Hawk Joe'!"
At the end of the 'Path of Stars', the golden-armored Blackwing Tamer slowly descended.

The blade-wielding warrior, strengthened by the will of its companions in the Graveyard, flapped its wings and charged, blade in hand, towards the Machine-Type Raptor.
"At this moment, Quick-Play Spell, 'Rank-Up-Magic - Raptor's Force', activates! When an opponent's Monster Declares an Attack, Target 1 "Raidraptor" Xyz Monster you control; Special Summon from your Extra Deck 1 "Raidraptor" Xyz Monster that is 2 Ranks higher than that target, by using it as Xyz Material!"
A jet-black vortex rose beneath the Machine-Type Raptor's feet, and loud cries began to sound in succession. The Machine-Type Raptor was about to complete its evolution!
"Trying to escape? Sorry, you can't." Crow said.
"The Spell Card in my Hand, 'Blackwing Tornado', can be used as a Quick-Play Spell during the Battle Phase if a 'Blackwing Tamer' is on the Field. Quick-Play Spell, 'Blackwing Tornado', activates! Negate the Activation of 1 Spell or Trap Card and destroy it! (Manga Card)"
"What?!" Shun Kurosaki was startled. A jet-black vortex swept forth from the wings in Crow's Hand, shattering the Rank-Up force field that had just been constructed.
"Then, the other Effect of Continuous Spell, 'Raidraptor - Intercept', activates!
"Once per Turn, when an Xyz Summoned "Raidraptor" Xyz Monster you control is chosen as an Attack Target during Damage Calculation, that monster's Attack Points and Defense Points are swapped only during that Damage Calculation."
'Raidraptor - Force Strix' ATK: 550 → 1500
Although its Attack Points were temporarily increased, the original form of the Machine-Type Raptor was no match for the Blackwing warrior. Its body was instantly cleaved in two by the lightning-charged blade.

"Did you endure it?" Crow shrugged. "However, because the number of monsters on your Field decreased by one, the Defense Points of your other two monsters will also decrease."

"'Blackwing Tamer' attacks the third 'Raidraptor - Force Strix'!"
Crow's two monsters on the Field attacked in succession, clearing all of Shun Kurosaki's monsters from the Field.
"I Set a Card, End Turn." Having done all this, Crow ended his Turn.
"At this moment, because the Continuous Spell 'Black Whirlwind' that 'Zephyros the Elite' placed on the Field will be destroyed, I will take 1000 points of Effect Damage!"

"My Turn! Draw!" Having taken a significant amount of Damage last Turn, Shun Kurosaki's expression remained unchanged as he continued his Turn.
"'Rank-Up-Magic - Soul Shave Force' activates! Pay half your LP; Target 1 "Raidraptor" Xyz Monster in your Graveyard; Special Summon that monster, then Special Summon from your Extra Deck 1 Xyz Monster that is 2 Ranks higher than that Monster, by using it as Xyz Material!"

"I Special Summon 'Raidraptor - Force Strix' from the Graveyard, then, with this monster, I construct the Overlay Network!"
"O proud falcon! Turn the wings steeped in a hero's blood tide, and rush towards the path of revolution! Rank-Up Xyz Change! Appear! Rank 6! 'Raidraptor - Revolution Falcon - Airraid'!!"
