Chapter 1049 - Chapter 387: These Temp Workers Are Too Strong!

Rhode's secretary team quickly immersed themselves in their work.

Each of them equipped with a pair of Wind's Glasses, swiftly organizing and categorizing the chaotic files.

Whenever other departments had demands, they could always spare a person or two to take meeting minutes and help draft important documents.

Occasionally, when other positions were vacant, they often managed to find someone to fill in. Rhode's secretary team suddenly became the versatile department.

The Council marveled at their effectiveness.

After a week, the temporary archive room finally looked passable.

Hayberion gradually realized that Rhode's claim that these people could one person cover for three might have been an understatement.

Take that blue-haired girl, for example, she was particularly skilled at book and archive management. Whenever any information was needed, as long as you asked her, she could immediately give the search scope.

Her efficiency seemed like she was using Super Ancient Document Magic.

Then there was that blonde girl. When she started drafting documents, she favored elegant words and phrases.

But after being corrected once, she could almost immediately write standardized official documents the next day.

It's said she based her drafts on previous materials, but now she was slowly getting used to it and no longer needed to seek references deliberately.

The girl wearing glasses didn't show any outstanding work capability, but once, by chance, Rhode assigned her to train newcomers.

As a result, after the 'training', each new recruit was full of vigor, working with impressive efficiency.

Fried, the only gentleman in the secretary team, initially did not showcase any specialty either.

But his catchphrase was 'Rules are absolute', and the financial reports he handled were so meticulous that the finance department praised them nonstop.

Additionally, when he temporarily played the inspector role, he not only memorized the regulations of the Council but also identified a pile of processes not adhering to work standards.

The rarest quality was his impartiality. He even caught Rhode, his direct superior, and Hayberion, the temporary chairman, for a lecture.

Hayberion wasn't mad at all and even considered transferring him to the disciplinary department...but not now.

With manpower short and all evaluators being novices, it was really difficult to have everything adhere strictly to the regulations.

In comparison, Mirajane was quite overshadowed.

But the main reason was Rhode not allowing a pregnant woman to work at full capacity, making sure to take her out for a walk once staying in the tent for too long.

Even so, her efficiency was not inferior to that of the original staff.

Presumably, if not for health reasons, she would surely be an excellent employee.

Hayberion just could not fathom where Fairy Tail found so many talents.

They were just a small guild of less than a hundred people—was it necessary to have so many great personnel?

It felt like a waste of talent!

Could these temporary workers be made permanent?!

He now really wanted Rhode to propose a third option, which would let these people stay and directly join the management team.

Unfortunately, when he asked, none of the five wanted to leave Fairy Tail.

Even when conditions were offered to maintain their guild mage identity and work long-term at the Council, they all refused.

Rhode jokingly said that if the Council moved to the entrance of Fairy Tail, he could help convince them.

Hayberion could only express regret.

If we did move over, the Council would really become a Fairy Tail Branch.

The newly formed Holy Ten Council gradually sorted out the previous mess, slowly setting things straight.

That day after work, Rhode saw a little fan of Mira packing and waved at him:

"Stop by Mr. Brellins' side on your way, see if Dolanbart has left. If not, ask him to come over."

"Alright." The little fan saw nothing strange about it.

Their work was interconnected with various departments, including the prison system.

Mira saw the other two outsiders had left too and curiously asked: "What do you need him for?"

"That matter needs to be clarified...I'll send you all back first."

"Alright." Mira clapped her hands, "Everyone pack up, it's time to leave work. You've worked hard lately, let's go back to the guild for a drink!"

Lucy and Reby cheered: "Thank you, Miss Mira/Sister Mira!"

Fried and Ibarglin were more reserved: "Thanks."

Rhode took his companions back to the guild, then returned using the Flying Gate, just in time to see Mest suddenly appear at the tent entrance.

This guy was impatient, directly using Teleportation Magic to travel—such behavior would surely invite Fried's criticism.

"Let's talk inside." Rhode sat down at his spot, "Feel free to take a seat anywhere."

"No need." Dolanbart felt a little uneasy, "Mr. Rhode, is there a problem with the reform plan? Or are there prisoner records that need verification?"

"Neither. Actually, there's no need to be so formal; we...Alright then." Rhode activated a Void Divination to sense no surveillance or eavesdropping around.

With Dolanbart's puzzled gaze, Rhode pointed at him with a flick of his right hand.

Dolanbart felt his brain suddenly become muddled and noticed a slight pain in his right shoulder.

Under his clothing, the Fairy Tail mark suddenly appeared on his skin.

He didn't have the mood to lift his clothes to check; his mind was occupied sorting through chaotic memories.

"Wait a moment! I'm, I'm Mest? A member of Fairy Tail? No, don't joke about this, what did you do to my memory?"

Rhode said helplessly: "You're an expert in Memory Magic yourself, verify if I did alter anything and sort it out carefully."

Mest sat there dazedly, lost in thought.

The last time he restored his memory was after the Great Demon Fighting Martial Arts when Makarov urged him to return to the guild, but he refused.

He said he wanted to help gather intelligence on Gate of the Underworld, and he'd return once it was eradicated.

About a month after that, Makarov intended to bring Rhode to meet Mest, but then the Council exploded that day.

That situation clearly wasn't an opportune moment to confess, and Mr. Org indeed needed his protection, so it was temporarily shelved.

These days have been busy, and neither Rhode nor Makarov had time to consider this matter.

Now that Rhode and Makarov have mingled as evaluators, what use was an undercover anymore.

So Rhode employed the magic Makarov taught him, which aided Mest's memory restoration, preparing to resolve this issue.

Mest finally sorted through his thoughts, understanding why he inexplicably held fondness towards Fairy Tail.

Moreover, this fondness wasn't very stable, seeming to reset every now and then.

He chuckled wryly: "Seems like a lot has happened all at once."

Rhode asked: "You've been meddling with your memory repeatedly; are you sure there won't be any aftereffects?"

Mest shook his head: "The magic itself is safe, just uncomfortable at times."

Rhode asked: "Earlier, you mentioned returning once Gate of the Underworld was resolved, what's your plan now?"
