Chapter 1147 - Chapter 1082: Song Duel

The howling wind whistled past his ears, and the weightlessness brought by the rapid descent seemed to freeze all the blood in his body at the top of his head. All he could see was the thick Dark Matter, while the various Energy particles continuously collided against the black-yellow Armor, forming intermittent sparks.

Unlike those Walking Corpses that disappeared halfway through, Su Ming landed directly at the bottom of the big pit. Despite the severe limitation on his field of vision, he couldn't help but raise an eyebrow upon landing.

Those underground creatures, who knows how many years they've lived in this city, but looking at it now, their trash isn't sorted at all, and they threw everything into this Abyss.

The ground he stepped on was soft, not only were there masses of white bones, but also countless types of other trash and dust.

Fortunately, the underground creatures were different from humans; they ate cleanly and didn't have kitchen waste, but broken jars and tattered Beast Hides, among other things, were also thrown down, now forming a thick pile here.

This might be the biggest pile of garbage in history.

He bent down to pick up a bone, but with a slight pinch, the weathered bone turned into powder. Su Ming glanced around; other than the solid rock wall behind him, his vision couldn't even see things beyond ten meters.

The empty space filled with Black Smoke gave a sense of confusion, and the sound of thunder came intermittently as the dark clouds churned.

Looking at the scene before him, Su Ming thought for a moment and took out a Torch from his waist bag to light it.

He had tried with a cigarette butt before, these black clouds instinctively avoided the Flame. This torch wasn't for illumination but to reduce the concentration of Dark Matter around his body.

Even though the Symbiote offered protection, the Dark Matter kept seeping into his body. This Energy-based thing wasn't a parasite, and Strangulation didn't have much of a solution.

"Strangulation, can you smell the Vamps?" He asked his Symbiote as he slowly walked towards the center of the Abyss. He needed to deal with crucial matters next, and it wouldn't do to let the Vampires stand by watching, as that could easily cause trouble.

Clearing the area before doing things makes it more secure.

Strangulation emerged from his shoulder like Bean Sprouts; the scent of a Vampire was the easiest to recognize, a mixture of human blood and perfume, with Darkness floating beneath the ostentation.

However, the black Little Bean Sprouts sniffed in every direction like a dog, then shook its head and retracted back into the Armor. The air here was full of Dark Matter ions, causing its sense of smell to fail.

"I see..... no matter, I still have a way." Su Ming flicked his cloak, taking the Godslayer in hand: "Turn into a large loudspeaker."

...........

On Duke Tatus's end, it was clear that the two Counts sent ahead to scout had not returned, as if they had become lost in the Darkness.

And for some reason, the black particles in the surrounding air became more and more numerous. Instinctively, he led his men to find the source from which the Black Matter was spewing.

However, upon truly finding the source, he only saw a small spring about the width of a waist constantly emitting Black Smoke on the ground, and for a moment, he didn't know what to do next.

Though small, that thing contained a terrifying amount of Energy; even though Duke Tatus wasn't a Warlock, he could feel the blood in his stomach churning with the same frequency as the Black Smoke.

Fortunately, this Energy didn't seem to have any side effects on the Blood Race. Other than the limited vision, there were no other detectable impacts.

So he decided to surround the little spring and hold a strategic meeting with his trusted Courtiers.

"Mr. Andreyev, what do you think?" Tatus used a white Handkerchief to gently cover his mouth and nose; though Vampires didn't need to breathe, nobles must act like nobles, expressing dissatisfaction with the dirty environment under such circumstances.

His Counts naturally followed suit, also using a Handkerchief to cover their noses, adjusting their collars before responding: "My lord, I think these black substances can be utilized. Look, they spontaneously erupt from the ground and spread like clouds; we could throw the Dead Gangrene Type I Virus we brought, into it..."

No matter whether the Duke would adopt this suggestion, one must always leave room for flexibility.

Before they came down, the Blood Race had already studied the terrain here. Now with the help of these self-spreading black clouds, Biological Weapons could automatically disperse into every corner of the underground space; any living creature on Earth would rot and die, turning into a blood pouch.

They had no idea that the 'stone cover' above everyone's heads was now beyond the atmosphere. These Black Smoke veiled the sunlight they feared the most, also keeping them unaware of the movements above.

If they now threw the gangrene Virus into this 'spring eye,' who knows what the result would be.

Tatus nodded slightly, neither agreeing nor disagreeing. He simply pressed his lips with his long, white fingers: "Mr. Davydenko, what do you think?"

The Blood Race referred to as Davydenko seemed a bit older, but this only meant that the body was older when he was turned into a Vampire; in fact, he was a junior to both Tatus and Andreyev.

Though they were both Counts, credit goes to the Bloodline. From the order in which the Duke inquired, it's apparent that Davydenko wasn't as favored as Andreyev.

"My lord, the dispersion of this Black Smoke is beyond our control. If the gangrene plague infects humans on the surface, it might conflict with the Ancestor's orders..." He chose caution. His fief was closer to the border between the Fur Bear Country and the Celestial Dynasty, and he was well aware of how terrifying the Divine Spear Bureau of the southern major powers was.

This is in Tungus of Siberia, though it is a desolate place, one must be wary of the potential risk. If the Virus reaches the surface and gets blown by the northwest wind to the Northeast region of the Celestial Dynasty...

Even though the Divine Spear has been keeping a low profile for hundreds of years, meddling only with their own affairs and not with world matters, the Divine Spear has too many powerful individuals, and we are not even enough to fill the gaps between their teeth.

The influence of Tatus in the Blood Race is not small, with nearly ten thousand Blood Race members of various ranks under his command. The Blood Race is not like werewolves; developing descendants is very meticulous work.

However, the number of Martial Artists in the Divine Spear Bureau who can tear apart Japanese like ripping paper far exceeds ten thousand.

As a noble of the Blood Race, Davydenko can't claim he's afraid of humans, so he brings up Dracula's command as a shield.

Dracula may not have troops or land, but he is the legitimate heir of the Blood Race, holding the moral high ground. With a casual announcement, he can claim that a certain duke is indecent for not wearing socks, and other dukes with ulterior motives will dispatch troops to act on behalf of the Ancestor.

He prohibits the Blood Race from waging war against humans, so anyone with a bit of sense wouldn't defy this command.

Moreover, spreading a plague in the Fur Bear Country would attract Leviathan, who has powerful cards up his sleeve.

Biological weapons are good, but they must not be used recklessly.

Tatus made a 'mm' sound, his face expressionless as his sword-like eyebrows twitched slightly, probably realizing this point as well, and began to ponder.

However, at this moment, they heard a croaky singing voice in the distance from the darkness, very loud and carrying a strange rhythm that even drowned out the wind and thunder overhead.

Tatus raised his hand, stopping his subordinates from saying anything, and listened intently to the sound carried by the wind.

"...Singing mountain songs, this side sings and that side replies, mountain songs are like spring river water, hey, yah li wei..."

The Bloodline Duke frowned, sensing that something was amiss. As an immortal being, he could understand the Chinese, but that was the issue. How could people from the Celestial Dynasty be here?

Could they be from the Divine Spear Bureau? Has the gangrene virus information been leaked?

The other party showed no intention of approaching, and judging by the sound, they must be several hundred meters away, with nothing visible. Furthermore, the more they sang, the more vigorous they became.

'What is this supposed to be? Some kind of warning?'

'Is this reminding us that the Divine Spear Bureau has discovered our plan?'

'The singing is so awful that it's practically violating our ears!'

Tatus remained quietly standing in place, listening to the eerie singing of the other party, while the other nobles exchanged silent glances, each harboring different thoughts and guesses.

The electric light in the dark clouds intermittently flickered across their faces, and they could all see the Grand Duke's fingers, clutching a handkerchief, trembling as if restraining his anger.

"Hmph, using this wolf-like howling song to insult me? Where is our orchestra?" Tatus asked after a moment, turning to the nobles behind him.

Andreyev shrugged: "The court orchestra's members were too weak; they were all severely injured when they fell and are now in slow self-healing."

"Then you get the instruments for me to accompany my performance. I will sing an aria excerpt from 'Queen of Spades', using human music to defeat humans," Tatus proudly declared, emanating strong regal majesty.

Immediately, the eyes of the surrounding nobles sparkled with brightness, and their movements were filled with confidence.

Playing music is the Blood Race's forte. If the other party wants to use music to deter our army, then we will use the same method to crush their spirits!

Vampires live too long, making daily life too dull. Almost every Blood Race with a bit of pursuit plays the piano well, and the longer they live, the more instruments they master.

The members of the court orchestra weren't the most skilled; on the contrary, they were servants with no status, not much different from Blood Slaves. The true Bloodline nobles were each musical masters; serving others was the task of low-level Blood Race.

But accompanying the Duke now was not considered shameful.

Soon, dozens of nobles holding instruments took their positions, and a symphony-like accompaniment resonated in the pitch-black Abyss.

Tatus closed his eyes, gently wiped his lips with a handkerchief, and began his performance.

Thanks to having a personal orchestra, he performed perfectly. A vampire's lungs are merely decorative; they produce sound by compressing air with their stomach, the most authentic abdominal pronunciation, perfect for singing high notes.

As soon as he started, his perfect singing immediately drowned out the ghostly calls from afar, and the other side fell silent.

A hint of pride flashed in Tatus's eyes as he sang with even more enthusiasm.
