Actually, the Undersea People weren't lying. The 'saving our world' they refer to and the world Su Ming thinks of are not the same thing.
For Su Ming, his world is naturally this Monistic Universe, Earth 40K. But for these Undersea People, their entire world is just this ocean.
What they want to save is the ocean, and to them, the Land People are external enemies, invaders. Su Ming only realized this when he saw the blood-stained seawater.
Indeed, Marvel's Atlantis has always been closed off, and Namor has a very unfriendly attitude towards the Earth Surface People. Even someone as amicable as Captain America finds it difficult to get along with him.
You have to know Captain America has friends all over the world and is recognized as a good person.
"Your problem to solve is in Japan? Tell me!" Su Ming descended a little, floating towards the tall Sea Race individual, looking at the other's blue skin with his red monocular eye.
That moist sheen seemed sticky, and sure enough, he couldn't stand it. It felt like Avatar had rolled in glue, as he put it.
"Get lost!"
As he was pressing for information, the sea surface below suddenly cracked open, and a golden Trident broke through the water, aiming at his feet.
Someone just soared into the air, shouting loudly in algae-flavored English.
Su Ming didn't need to dodge himself; when flying, the Magic Floating Cloak would automatically avoid attacks. He crossed his arms, watching the new arrival, none other than Namor.
He first noticed the stitches from back when the Master of Mischief patched him up. He had to admit, the craftsmanship was quite good; Namor didn't turn into an undersea Frankenstein.
Water splashed, while moonlight shimmered on the spear tip, carving an arc through the seawater. Namor's surprise attack failed; he immediately flipped his wrist, planning a waist-level horizontal slash.
However, the movement was so slow that Su Ming simply reached out and grabbed the tip of the spear, a dull echo resonating on the sea surface.
"Clang!!!" That was the sound of the Hand Armor and Weapon meeting.
"Let go!" Namor yanked hard at the weapon, but it seemed to have taken root in Deathstroke's grip, not moving at all.
A gentle laughter came from beneath the black and yellow mask, sounding like sympathy to him.
His eyes instantly turned red; the laughter seemed to mock his manhood. Ever since he was transformed into a 'three-section staff' down there, he always felt many people knew his secret.
It's all because of the Germans, who disassembled him into so many pieces. Even if a kind-hearted Mage stitched him up, that part lost its function!
He didn't know that it was just the Master of Mischief's hand twitching when he did the repair; later, when Namor woke up, he found it hard to explain, so he blamed it on the Germans, not knowing anything else.
"Too weak, use some more strength."
Namor's strength is roughly fifty tons, according to push strength. But while they floated in mid-air grappling, it was as if he had to wrestle while dealing with Strangulation and arm wrestle with the Magic Floating Cloak.
Su Ming only had to hold onto the Trident's spear tip; the rest was handled by his little pets.
Even so, he had to use trash talk tactics to disrupt the opponent.
Namor tends to be quite hot-headed, and trash talking is highly effective on him. Presumably, when he teamed up with Captain America, he didn't hear much profanity because Steve's most common phrase was 'watch your language!'.
Since Steve became Captain America, he represented the image of the national army, and many kids wanted to take pictures with him, making him a big star.
Besides endorsing Wilson Enterprises' products, he also filmed many public service ads and programs.
Such as 'mind your language,' 'kids don't skip school,' 'see a crime, don't be a hero, call the police' and similar children's education programs.
Currently, during less popular time slots on TV, you can still see them.
The newly appointed Second Captain America is a military toy with not a bit of Superpower; his specialty is acting. It's safe to predict such programs will only increase.
Holding the Trident in hand, Su Ming let Namor exert all his effort without letting go, like playing with him as if he were fishing.
"King Namor, this isn't our first meeting, but when I last saw you, you were less... complete, hehe..."
While maintaining the stalemate, he greeted Namor.
This word hit Namor's ears, triggering his sore spot again.
"Incomplete? Incomplete... ah!!! I'll kill you!!!"
Namor released the Trident, no longer wrestling with Su Ming, but instead, used an exact replica of Wolverine's vicious dog pouncing method, with hands shaped like tiger mouths, seemingly intending to strangle Deathstroke.
The difference was Logan couldn't fly; Namor had small wings on his ankles allowing him to fly in the sky like swimming in the ocean.
His speed wasn't fast, around 100 km/h, but he could fly, couldn't he?
"??? Su Ming felt somewhat bewildered. Why get so worked up just from one sentence? Last time they met, Namor was indeed just a heap of flesh; Su Ming even painstakingly helped put Namor back together.
All because of subordinates? Could he be so heartbroken? Look at Arthur next door. Even after Earth Sinking at Poseidonis had killed so many people, he still joyfully ate with Su Ming and Barry afterward?
So is it a whale problem? Just like dolphins are the Reversed Scale of Violent Wolf, Arthur likes horses, does Namor outwardly appear to be a brainless tough guy, yet inside he's an animal protectionist full of intricate feelings?
Thinking about this almost made him nauseous; it was hard to imagine someone like Namor becoming gentle.
Facing Namor's attack, he instinctively used a bit more strength.
Namor's idea wasn't bad. Abruptly letting go of the weapon and wanting to seize the moment while Su Ming hadn't reacted, he wanted to capitalize on the advantage of being short and swift, using both hands to grab Su Ming.
In situations where the distance was very close, a weapon like a Trident was actually hard to wield, much like trying to manipulate a Grass Fork in a narrow space, unable to unharness it fully.
However, while Namor had heard Deathstroke's legends, he wasn't aware he was also a Grandmaster in Martial Arts. Though the Trident was unmanageable, Deathstroke had legs.
A foot longer, a foot stronger, after all.
Su Ming kicked Namor's face, and Namor instantly shot away like a cannonball, sending a high water column into the air, directly sinking into the coastal seabed mud.
"Alright, your king needs a little nap. Now, continue telling me what you plan to do to Tokyo? What provoked you?"
Su Ming patted his leg armor like Huang Feihong, brushing off nonexistent dust, and asked for information again.
Atlantis lacks strong warriors, and only Namor is somewhat capable. Their most threatening weapon is actually seawater, but the method of flooding places is more suited as a bargaining chip rather than a decisive weapon.
Now, the strongest of the Sea Race, Namor, has been planted, and they simply have no one on the same level as Deathstroke, so they must obediently cooperate.
Perhaps they are not afraid of death, but generally, people who aren't afraid of dying fear seeing others die. These others can be family, friends, or even strangers.
The less afraid of death someone is, the more they care about others, which probably reflects the notion that greater power brings greater responsibility.
Such an obvious weakness, of course, has to be exploited. Just keep watching that Undying who speaks English; there's always a way to extract all the intelligence.
"I...."
"Bang!"
That undersea person still looked conflicted, unsure of whether he should speak, as if fearing Namor would suddenly spring from the water. However, Su Ming gave him no chance to hesitate.
Under the host's direction, Strangulation fired again, blowing open a head floating on the sea surface.
"Don't kill anyone! I'll talk!" The Sea Race's English seemed to be learned from somewhere, and he'd even learned the gesture for surrender, standing on water and raising his hands, resembling synchronized swimming.
"Bang!" Strangulation quickly fired another shot, taking out another sea creature.
Su Ming's words rang out in a timely manner: "No water ballet allowed. You're three meters tall, waist also three meters, don't you know how you look? Are you trying to disgust me?"
The undersea person's eyes brimmed with grievance; what is ballet? He didn't understand.
He obediently lowered his hands nonetheless: "Stop, I'll tell you everything I know. If you must kill, then kill me!"
"Bang!" Strangulation killed another one.
The black and yellow mask covered Deathstroke's face, so the Sea Race couldn't see his expression, yet the terror of being controlled increasingly spread among them.
Powerlessness, anger, frustration made them wish they could commit suicide.
"Accusing me of being a killer? Deserves punishment." Deathstroke's voice held neither joy nor sadness.
"No, I didn't!" The Sea Race brute waved his hands frantically.
Deathstroke tilted his head, and the gunshot rang again: "Bang! Lying to my face!?"
The Sea Race didn't know where to place their hands: "It's not..."
"Bang! Still keeping on?" Deathstroke folded his arms, tapping his foot quickly in the void, like waiting for something.
"We came to chase that ship, a living monstrous ship, it just passed by here!"
The Sea Race finally realized the other party only wanted to hear the mission from his mouth, uninterested in any irrelevant words, with one less comrade for each useless sentence.
To be honest, his brain was slightly more astute than Namor's, as he immediately revealed the mission for everyone.
Indeed, the tentacles behind Deathstroke withdrew their weapons.
"Tsk, still that ship? What do you know about it?"
"It's metal, yet alive, can alter its shape, dive underwater, incredibly fast!" The Sea Race brute answered rapidly; his English seemed to become fluent.
Su Ming pinched his chin through the mask, pondering a ship that can traverse both above and below water.... No wonder it vanished from sight after a single meal.
Yet it always emits a strangely alluring aura, nothing about it seems like a sneaky scout ship, more akin to bait....
What kind of fish would it catch? Whose hands hold the fishing rod?
This odd modus operandi is neither Romulus nor Hydra's style, could it be the Hand Union?
But those ninjas are always globally excavating fossils and probably don't have time for technological toys....
After a moment of contemplation, Su Ming asked, "Then how did it provoke Namor, causing him to bring so many people to hunt a ship?"
The undersea person raised his head, still carrying indignant expression: "Because our king heard it had captured his friend, a Land Person, and he desires to reclaim the friend, yet now...."
They wished to rescue a Land Person and consequently sacrificed so many of the Sea Race's lives, was it truly worth it?
Su Ming furrowed his brows; could it be that Namor's idea of saving the world differs from these Sea Race's understanding of saving the world?
For instance, wanting to be quiet, yet 'Quiet' is a name.
Someone shouts: 'It's the world's fault,' yet that 'world' is also a name.
Thus, could Namor's 'saving the world' also mean?....
That one person, being Namor's world....
Eugh! Can't ponder, surely it's not, such a domineering CEO narrative couldn't possibly appear in this world!
"That Land Person's name." Su Ming felt mentally exhausted, pressing his temples firmly.
"I don't know his name." All the others from the Sea Race submerged seeking their king, and only the blue brute remained on the surface answering: "Our majesty didn't mention his name, but I know you Land People call him Captain America."
"...Faker."
