Chapter 849 - Chapter 804: Terrifying Monster

Batman didn't care to listen to Eggman's introduction, all those anticipated combat power parameters and such. Even with his intelligence, he couldn't fathom how Eggman calculated that his creations could rival half a Superman.

Now wasn't the time to ponder that, because the eggshell had already begun to crack. A fissure appeared on the glowing giant egg, and the crackling sound was incessant.

The Windbreaker Warrior immediately ran to Batman's side. He watched the changes in the giant egg, and with a somewhat heavy tone, asked, "What do we do?"

Batman noticed a smell of perfume on him, and his figure was skinny and not tall. Was it a woman?

But he didn't mind having someone to help temporarily. Gender wasn't an issue. He replied in a low tone.

"We fight."

"Pop!"

Just as he spoke, a crisp sound was heard. A sharp claw covered in a yellow shell suddenly burst out from the eggshell, with fierce nails appearing particularly sharp under the electric light.

The Windbreaker Warrior sniffed and clicked his tongue:

"This scene reminds me of Jurassic Park. Is this the kind of privilege top superheroes get? The right to battle ancient creatures?"

"It's not a dinosaur. Eggman couldn't get active dinosaur genes."

Batman pressed his belt. He needed to see what kind of hybrid the opponent was to preliminarily determine its weakness.

The reality was not far off from what Batman guessed. Achieving the level of hybrid dinosaur genes would stump even Pigface. Only someone like Dr. Ivo, who created Sub-Monster, would have such capability.

And Batman speculated that Dr. Ivo was currently working for Luthor. After the Little Sub-Monster incident implicated his lab, Ivo had no choice but to rely on Luthor. His funding always came from Luthor Corporation.

Dr. Eggman was still prancing around nearby, doing a tap dance alone, laughing merrily. Lacking any combat skills, he couldn't even use a gun, so Batman and the Windbreaker Warrior ignored him.

But not wanting to be left out, perhaps having sensed the two heroes' disregard, he immediately emphasized: "Dinosaurs? What are dinosaurs?! My creation is a hundred times stronger than a Tyrannosaurus! Stronger than Godzilla! Run for your lives while you can; I don't want to kill you!"

Batman remained motionless, staying in a vigilant stance. What kind of biochemical monster was supposedly a hundred times stronger than a Tyrannosaurus and as powerful as half a Superman?

Almost the next second, he and the Windbreaker Warrior saw a yellow keratinous sharp beak protruding from the eggshell.

The junction of the beak was sticky, hairless skin, with pores as densely packed as small blisters.

As more of the monster's head emerged, they saw tumors atop its head resembling a rooster's comb...

"Wait? The scariest creature you mentioned...is a chicken?"

The Windbreaker Warrior couldn't help but turn to Eggman to inquire. What was this? A so-called half Superman, a new Godzilla, was just a fusion of human and chicken genes....?

Dr. Eggman nodded as if it were the most natural thing, suppressing his smile: "Isn't a chicken the most terrifying creature? Its origin is completely unknown, the most fearsome monster in our world."

Windbreaker Warrior: "...."

"Don't believe it? You really don't believe it?" Dr. Eggman painedly walked back and forth, striking his other hand's back with his palm: "Ask Batman, was it the chicken or the egg first?!"

Batman: "...."

How was someone supposed to answer that question? One had to admit, Dr. Eggman's verbal onslaught was incredibly powerful; he actually stumped Batman.

The key was that what he said seemed to make some sense, as the origin of birds indeed remains unclear... After the Papetua incident, Batman became really sensitive to these origin mysteries.

As the two silently stood, the monster had already 'whooshed' out of the giant egg. What kind of monster was this!

Besides a head and neck that somewhat resembled a chicken, its lower body looked more like a mishmash of unrelated human limbs.

It had a big belly, and the belly skin connected directly to the bottom of the feet, while the legs oddly linked to the foot. First came the thighs, then the lower legs, and the lower end connected to a bulbous lump, under which a cluster of eyeballing keratinous spheres rolled for mobility.

There were seven of these bizarre arthropod-like appendages. The creature's support wasn't even symmetrical. It ran around on the roof and appeared somewhat limping.

The sharp claw seen earlier was actually at the creature's rear end, likely the tail.

The Windbreaker Warrior gasped: "This is the strangest thing I've seen. Even kids in kindergarten wouldn't draw such a nightmare in their nightmares..."

"Be on guard."

Batman looked seriously at the monster. Its size and smell were already disgusting enough, not to mention it was riddled with goosebumps.

Dr. Eggman hid behind his apparatus, intending to control this monster to attack Batman and the Windbreaker Warrior: "My creation..... I..... command.... Ugh! Ugh ugh.... Waa.... I can't, it's too disgusting, Batman, you win... ugh..."

As he spoke, he retched, finally giving Batman a bitter look, his mouth corner dripping with yellow goo as he collapsed. The intense nausea and vomiting, along with the mental shock, knocked out Dr. Eggman. He seemed to lose rather unwillingly.

Batman and the Windbreaker Warrior exchanged a glance, and they both sighed in unison.

Even though Dr. Eggman was defeated, and was already profoundly unconscious, his creation still ran rampant, emitting screams akin to slaughtering pigs.

In the pitch-black night, the shrill cries carried far, seemingly overshadowing the rumbling thunder.

It was about to rain, and Batman had to act fast.

The Windbreaker Warrior pulled a spring-loaded knife from his pocket, flicked out the blade, and lowly verified with Batman: "This doesn't count as a person... it can be killed, right?"

Batman glanced at the switchblade. Using something like this as a weapon indicated Windbreaker Warrior might have experience in street brawls. Only someone who grew up in the lower urban strata, whose upbringing was associated with small gangs, would choose this kind of weapon.

But given its enormous size, like a mass of human limbs attached to a giant tumor with a chicken head, the little dagger's effectiveness was doubtful, very pessimistic.

"Have you ever killed?" Batman asked, focusing his gaze on the creature's lower limbs. It seemed as though it wore bony roller skates.

"No, just need to protect myself, and my place isn't particularly safe...." Windbreaker Warrior replied, spreading his hands to show helplessness.

Batman nodded because not everyone has that kind of money, and, from a certain perspective, those determined enough to become superheroes typically face many hardships.

Balancing the fight for justice and earning a living is an issue for many. If the balance tilts, or if one gets too carried away with justice, they might end up in a sketchy, cheap neighborhood with poor security.

While thinking, Batman retrieved a small glass orb marked with a bat from his belt and hurled it at the monster.

The orb shattered instantly upon hitting the ground. The black liquid inside seemed to react with the damp rooftop, spreading rapidly.

The monster, stepping on the liquid, immediately lost its footing, slipping with a 'boom,' sprawling onto the ground legs all akimbo.

Those black liquids were lubricants. Who knows why he carried them, but his belt gadgets always restrained enemies.
