"Bai Shu. An hour ago I told you that you will be standing on a wall in seventy years, and you have been sitting with it since, and I want to know what you did with it."
Bai Shu had not expected to be asked.
"I worked out how old I would be," she said. "Ninety-nine."
"And then?"
"...And then I worked out how old my mother would be." She said it to the table. "And then I stopped."
"What tier is she?"
"Ashborn. Entry. She never had the chance at anything else; there were four of us and the kiln to keep."
"How old?"
"Fifty-one."
