Chapter 1039 - Chapter 782: Voldemort's Obsession (Part 2)

Dumbledore stood at the door, struggling a bit to put on his robe with one hand, while Kael crossed his arms beside him, watching indifferently with no intention of helping.

"I thought you might give me a hand," Dumbledore said teasingly, "I'm really not quite used to this yet."

"Oh, I thought this was your new pastime, after all... wandless spellcasting is quite simple," Kael shrugged, took off his robe, tossed it aside, and with a flick of his fingers, the robe flew back onto him.

"Not everything needs to be solved with magic," Dumbledore said.

Kael couldn't help but feel there was some other implication in Dumbledore's words, yet Dumbledore offered no further explanation.

He adjusted his robe and lifted his immobile arm to slide it into the sleeve.

"I have some matters to attend to," he said to Kael. "I need you to promise me that you won't put any of your wild ideas into practice before I return."

"What wild ideas?" Kael blinked, momentarily not grasping what he meant.

It took a few seconds before he realized Dumbledore was referring to the idea of using noise to attack Voldemort's name.

"Don't worry, Professor."

Kael replied without hesitation, "I certainly wouldn't be foolish enough to provoke..." He paused suddenly, then continued, "...You-Know-Who with the Elder Wand."

Dumbledore's eyes flickered slightly; he felt Kael was hinting at something about him, but he had no evidence, and even with evidence, there was nothing he could say.

Because indeed, he was the one who lost the Elder Wand.

But Dumbledore didn't mind. Having gotten the answer he wanted, he nodded and disappeared into the hazy night.

On a street not far away, a drunkard was staring blankly in this direction, reaching out with his mouth wide open, seemingly about to scream in the next moment.

"Obliviate!"

Before he could shout, Kael lightly waved his hand, and the drunkard's eyes became dazed. He rubbed his eyes, seemingly confused as to why he stopped, then shook his head and continued to stagger forward.

Meanwhile, Kael had returned to the house.

By now, the birthday portion of the party was over, and everyone was discussing the wedding tomorrow.

After a brief and almost hasty discussion, Lupin and Tonks decided to set the wedding date for tomorrow.

Of course, this might also have something to do with Dumbledore's injury.

Upon learning that even Dumbledore had lost an arm and his wand was taken, everyone felt some sense of crisis and wanted to prioritize important matters.

But these were concerns for Mr. Weasley and others, unrelated to Kael, Harry, and the rest, who were sent back to their rooms after finishing dessert.

Back in his room, Kael finally had time to ponder the recent events.

The first was Harry's transfer operation. Undoubtedly, this was Voldemort's best opportunity to kill him, and everyone thought so.

Whether it was Kael, Dumbledore, or others, they all believed Voldemort would seize this chance, at all costs, to kill the savior who had once defeated him.

Yet they were all wrong; Voldemort didn't focus on Harry at all. Instead, when the Order of Phoenix had their attention on Privet Drive, he unexpectedly attacked another vital place... the Ministry of Magic.

They succeeded. Minister Fudge was killed, delivering a severe blow to their morale.

Furthermore, the Floo Network was deliberately disrupted, several important letters were stolen, and the Aurors' operational plans were thoroughly exposed.

This attack was undeniably a great victory for the Death Eaters, allowing them to gain a significant advantage effortlessly.

Abroad in Austria, Voldemort also used Olivander as leverage, crippling Dumbledore's arm and seizing the powerful Elder Wand in the process.

Kael wasn't sure if Dumbledore had any plans, but the fact that the Elder Wand was taken couldn't be denied. With the acknowledged most powerful wand, even if it hadn't fully recognized a master, Voldemort's power would undoubtedly receive a substantial boost.

It's a somewhat inappropriate thought, but Dumbledore might not be able to defeat him anymore.

Kael sat back on his chair, staring blankly out the window.

He couldn't understand why Voldemort suddenly gave up his obsession with Harry. Hadn't he always wanted to kill him with his own hands?

Kael always thought Voldemort had a very obsessive personality, perhaps because his soul had been split into so many pieces. He bore an almost insane fixation on Harry, who had once killed him.

He wanted revenge, to prove to everyone by personally killing Harry that the "savior" was nothing but a self-deceiving joke, a false hope, and he was always the undefeatable Dark Lord.

In fact, he always acted on this; the Death Eaters had several opportunities to kill Harry.

For example, during the Triwizard Tournament, when Barty Crouch Jr. impersonated Filch and abducted Harry, it was only because Voldemort wanted to kill Harry with his own hands that allowed Harry to survive until the end of the ceremony, and also led to Kael's rescue.
