Chapter 1179 - Chapter 1152: Allied Forces

Seeing his pride in his battle resistance seems useless against the big insect in front, Cotton Candy immediately panicked and turned his head to Yugen with a pleading expression.

Yet Yugen didn't disappoint its expectations: "Then activate the Cover Card.

Trap Card 'Scrap Iron Scarecrow'!"

The trap flipped over, and a small crucifix-shaped steel scarecrow flew forward, blocking like a shield in front of Yugen. The Doomsday Worm crashed into the scarecrow with a snap, sparking fire everywhere, as if a translucent barrier unfolded in front of that scarecrow.

The Executioner frowned: "What?"

"Scrap Iron Scarecrow can negate the attack of one opponent's monster." Yugen smiled slightly and waved his hand gently, "And after activation, this card is not sent to the graveyard but can be directly covered on the field again."

After saying this, the metal scarecrow that had just blocked the Doomsday Worm's attack was retracted into the Trap Card by several rusted iron wires, and covered on the field again.

Scrap Iron Scarecrow, the soul trap that runs through the entire 5DS animation, is probably also one of Yusei Fudo's most used iconic traps. After negating the attack, it can be re-covered, meaning as long as it's on the field, it can be repeatedly activated and reused.

Of course, according to the rules, Trap Cards cannot be activated in the turn they are set, so even after re-covering, it must wait until the next turn to be activated again. Therefore, Scrap Iron Scarecrow's effect can be seen as "once per turn negates one opponent's attack."

This trap Yusei has been using since the Novice Village debut, until the final showdown of the animation, and it even played a crucial role in the tactical game against ZONE.

"Heh, using traps to stall, it's just delaying your demise."

The Executioner snorted.

"Turn end."

Yugen: "My turn, draw a card!"

First, he naturally changed Cotton Candy's representation: "Switch Cotton Candy to Defense Position."

The soft, white little thing crouched down, switching from attack to defense.

[Cotton Candy, Defense Power 500]

This way, at least Cotton Candy won't become the breakthrough point.

"Next, Normal Summon 'Submarine Robot'!"

One of Yugen's Soul Monsters, but it's been a while since it had a chance to appear. A small submarine emerged from underground, surrounded by splashing water, its anthropomorphic eyes spinning around.

[Submarine Robot, Attack Power 800]

"Battle," Yugen said, "Submarine Robot attacks!"

Upon command, the small submarine had already dived into the ground, disappearing with a burst of splashing water.

The Executioner was surprised: "Attacking with only 800 attack power?"

"Submarine Robot's effect," Yugen chuckled, "This card can attack directly."

The Submarine Robot rose from the Executioner's backfield, firing a few torpedoes that exploded right on the Executioner's face. The Executioner raised his arm to block the impact, but his body was slightly pushed back a half-step.

[Executioner, LP4000 → LP3200]

"And after Submarine Robot attacks, it automatically switches back to Defense Position."

Yugen waved his hand casually.

[Submarine Robot, Attack Power 800 → Defense Power 1800]

The submarine immediately withdrew, shrinking back onto Yugen's field, with its anthropomorphic short arms crossed defensively.

Attack and retreat in one go, truly exhilarating.

"Tch, sneaky submarine," the Executioner sneered, "Then, it will be the first thing I handle next turn."

"Is that so?"

Yugen laughed and slowly inserted another card into the backfield.

"Then you better try hard.

I set a card in the backfield, and then activate this card..."

Yugen raised the card in his hand above his head.

"Continuous Magic 'Royal Divine Hall'!"

The office scene where the two were situated suddenly transformed. Suspended in the air, the Spell Fragments refracted a cold blue light, pinning the shadows of both duelists onto the obsidian tiles inscribed with hieroglyphics. Those intricate Ancient Priestly Texts seemed to writhe, like desert serpents slithering on the stone slab, wrapping everything in a majestic golden hall with a cold aura.

Indeed, it's a Continuous Magic, but when activated, it comes with a special effect like Field Spell with scene changes.

This type of card is not unheard of; in the original, some non-Field Spell cards also came with similar scene-changing effects when activated. For example, Teacher Dade Temple's famous Great Cosmos, evidently a Continuous Trap, but when activated summoned the cosmic starry field.

In the DM animation, "Royal Divine Hall" first appeared in Lixid's hands, as a card exclusive to Malik's Tomb Guardian Race. At that time, the animated version of Royal Divine Hall was indeed a Field Spell. The Royal Divine Hall in Yugen's hand was also initially obtained from the Tomb Guardian Race but has now been modified with the effect of the older physical card version.

Until 2015, the effect of the physical "Royal Divine Hall" allowed the controller to activate Trap Cards the turn they were set, but later, due to its overly powerful effect disrupting balance, often leading to some unscientific LOOP setups, it was banned for a long time.

After 2015, Consortium K modified the effect, adding a "once per turn" limitation, allowing the controller to activate only one Trap Card in the turn it was set, per turn. The hall was significantly nerfed but thus ended its lengthy imprisonment.

Yugen: "Turn end."

The Executioner seemed to instinctively feel a hint of ominous aura from this hall: "What is this?"

"Well, who knows?"

Yugen shrugged with a smile.

"Why don't you give it a try?"

The Executioner remained silent.

There's no evidence, but he instinctively sensed a dangerous aura from this golden hall.

There's a dreadful premonition that trying might lead to doom.

But he quickly suppressed this premonition: "My turn, draw a card!"

He is Taiyi's Executioner, the highest under the Three Emperors. He walks across various timelines, clearing countless traitors and threats to organizational security, including notable duelists from various timelines.

His allied forces fear nothing.

"My turn, draw a card!"

The Executioner glanced at the drawn card, then lifted his gaze towards Cotton Candy, now switched to defense and huddled.

"A troublesome thing that cannot be destroyed by battle... better deal with this first.

Activate Magic Card 'Soul Capturer'!

Destroy one monster on the opponent's field, then the opponent restores 1000 Life Points."

The Executioner pointed at Cotton Candy on Yugen's field.

"Destroy Cotton Candy!"

As he spoke, a massive demon-like claw shot out from the void, grabbing at Cotton Candy, swiftly tightening, as if it would instantly engulf and crush it!

Cotton Candy suddenly changed its expression, once again turning to look at Yugen.

Help, help, help!

Yugen once again lived up to its expectations: "Activate Cover Card, Counterattack Trap 'Scrap Iron Fence'!

Activate when a monster on your field is about to be destroyed, making it immune to card effects this turn!" (Original Card)
