The Monster Card emerged, a golden stream of light rippling across it. The demon flew out of the vortex in front of the card, slowly spread its wings, and a sinister third eye opened on its forehead.
Yubel, summon!
[Yubel, Attack Power 0]
"Yubel." The Supreme King's expression quickly turned cold.
She was supposed to be his most trusted subordinate, the one who should stand by his side even to the world's end.
But this was the second time this has happened—Yubel standing as an opponent, on the opposite side.
"Traitors will be purged, their souls banished to wander in endless darkness." The Supreme King said coldly, "You're no exception."
"I know."
Yubel on the field turned her head to look at Yuki Judai behind her, then at the person in front who had a nearly identical appearance but a completely different aura.
Then she turned back, her expression grave and solemn.
"But just as I said before, your era has passed." Yubel said, "You're nothing but a phantom that should have long been laid to rest, a specter that shouldn't even exist.
The current king stands right before you."
The Supreme King narrowed his golden eyes slightly, remained silent for a long while, and then slowly said, "You will regret this."
"Perhaps, but not now." Yubel smiled mysteriously, "Now, you should focus on the duel, as it's still the Battle Phase.
Enough talk, if you're going to make a move, do it quickly."
She licked her lips, looking excited.
"I'm quite eager over here."
"...Battle Recall, Malicious Fiend, attack terminated." The Supreme King said coldly.
Though he seemed slightly intimidated, anyone with a brain would know it's not the time to get carried away.
Yubel's attack power is only 0, though she may appear frail and easy to topple, those who know realize that isn't the case at all. She's the type that's impervious to pain, the more you attack, the worse off you are.
"My turn ends."
"Then it's my turn!" Judai drew a card and said, "At this moment, the effect of 'Take Over 5' in the graveyard activates! Exclude this card and the same-name card in the graveyard from the game, and draw a card from the deck!"
After drawing a card, Judai immediately revealed it: "Activate 'Card of Spell Containment', draw two more cards. But during the turn this card is activated, I cannot activate any Magic Cards other than this card." (Anime card)
Judai waved his hand grandly.
"Direct battle," he exchanged a glance with Yubel on the field, "Over to you, Yubel! Go, attack 'Evil Hero Malicious Fiend' with Yubel!"
Yubel's eyes glowed red, her spiritual power locked onto Malicious Fiend like invisible magic claws. The fiend's eyes likewise turned red, and he roared furiously, raising his claws to strike.
Supreme King Castle only works for one round, now Malicious Fiend's attack power has dropped back to 3500. But even so, if this strike goes through, it will deal 3500 massive damage, enough to blast the Supreme King's Life Points into the danger zone!
The fiend's sharp blade mercilessly caught Yubel's body, Yubel let out a soft hum and slid half a step back from the blast. The visible black impact was completely absorbed, transforming into thorn-covered vines shooting towards the Supreme King!
"Yubel's effect," Judai said with a clenched fist, "When battling an opponent's monster, the battle damage to us becomes 0, and inflicts that amount of damage to the opponent!"
But the Supreme King remained unfazed, casually drawing a card and discarding it to the graveyard.
"Then activate the effect of 'Clear Kuriboh' in my hand." The Supreme King said in a deep voice, "Discard 'Clear Kuriboh' from my hand to the graveyard, negate the damage-dealing monster effect."
A tiny Kuriboh jumped onto the Supreme King's field, releasing a translucent energy barrier. Yubel's vines fiercely stabbed into that layer of defense, only to be rebounded forcefully, returning empty-handed.
"Tch, quite resilient." Yubel smirked.
"Then my Battle Phase ends." Judai said, "Next, Normal Summon 'Elemental Hero Shadow Mist'."
Black mist burst onto the field, condensing into the black-armored Miss Shadow Mist, landing lightly as if she had no weight.
[Elemental Hero Shadow Mist, Attack Power 1000]
"Set one card face-down, ending the turn." Judai said, "And at this moment during the End Phase, Yubel's effect activates!"
Yubel explained personally: "My effect triggers at the End Phase; if I don't sacrifice a monster on the field, I'll be forced to destroy myself."
"Exactly," Judai said, "Therefore, I'll sacrifice 'Elemental Hero Shadow Mist' to maintain Yubel's presence so she won't be destroyed."
Shadow Mist's body dissolved into countless golden particles, dissipating and becoming nourishment absorbed by Yubel.
"And at this moment, Shadow Mist's effect also activates!" Judai said, "'Elemental Hero Shadow Mist' when sent to the graveyard allows me to add a 'Hero' monster from the deck to my hand.
I add 'Elemental Hero Prisma' to my hand."
Prisma's card automatically popped out, being drawn into Judai's hand.
"My turn."
The Supreme King drew a card.
Judai stared without blinking, watching the Supreme King intently as if trying to decipher the opponent's next move through his expressionless face.
After drawing the card, the Supreme King paused slightly, raised his eyelids, and the light of those golden eyes directed over instantly compelled Judai to feel a sudden urge to avoid.
"You seem to think you can defeat me." The Supreme King spoke muddily, "But soon you'll understand how laughable this thought is... after witnessing an unprecedented absolute power!"
Unprecedented absolute power... Could it be!?
Yubel's mismatched eyes suddenly contracted, reminded of an extremely terrifying possibility.
"Could it be, you've already brought forth that card..."
"Yes." The Supreme King replied coldly, "Though it cost me considerable extra effort, I've already regained this power, the ultimate card ruling over twelve dimensions, at the pinnacle of all things!
As punishment for betrayal, let you relive that fear, Yubel."
He raised his right hand high, holding up a green Magic Card. An indescribably terrifying power unleashed, like an invisible heavy hammer swinging back and forth against the spatial barriers of the entire dimension.
The golden glow caused by the powerful energy blocked the card's true form, obscuring its image and text, while golden lightning crackled in the space.
Everyone had no choice but to lift their arms and protect their heads, the deepest fear from within preventing anyone from looking directly at the vortex with its electrifying fury in the sky.
"What is this power!?" Mitsuzawa exclaimed.
Even President Haima couldn't help but furrow his brow: "Can it rival a god's aura...?"
"Judai, watch out!" Yubel shouted, "That is…"
Her last words couldn't come out, voice turning into a defiant roar, ultimately drowned in the raging storm.
The Supreme King's mighty, deep voice thundered.
"Quick-Play Magic—
—Super Fusion!!!"
