Dark clouds gathered within the temple, and bolts of lightning descended from the heavens. Golden lightning cracked the floor, blasting open the golden tiles, and a steel-like red dragon descended with the thunder, raising its head to let out an earth-shattering roar.
Slifer the Sky Dragon!
At the same time, a pillar of light shot up like a blue fountain breaking through the tiles, bursting from the ground, and soaring into the sky. A towering blue giant emerged from the earth, resembling a rising mountain, with sand and dust rolling off his body, creating a scene as spectacular as an earthquake.
Obelisk the Tormentor!

The spectators below were dumbfounded.
"This has to be a joke, right?" Jonouchi exclaimed. "There's a 'Summon Limit' restricting summons to only twice, yet he still summoned two Egyptian Gods!?"
Though having expected that the game from three thousand years ago might be strong... this is just too outrageous, isn't it?
Everyone looked again at the figure—a resolute face without expression, with a shining golden eye on his forehead. The arrival of the Egyptian Gods stirred up a tempest, causing his cloak to billow like waves, and the Millennium Pendant shone with a brilliant light.
He was nothing short of an invincible War God.
The Pharaoh issued an attack command, akin to the blast of a war trumpet.
"Obelisk the Tormentor, attack 'Masked Hero Dark Claw.'"
[Masked Hero Dark Claw, Attack Power 2800]
Dark Claw's effects are powerful, but his abilities are more about disrupting the opponent rather than outright battle power. Even with the Forbidden Chalice boosting him by 400 attack points, he is still no match for the Tormenter.
Obelisk swung his fist, and the divine punch shattered the waves as it approached. The heavy strike shattered the armor on the hero's chest, and his metal breastplate exploded into black metal debris flying in all directions.
[Youyu, LP 2200 →LP 1000]
"Slifer," the Pharaoh continued, "Thunderforce Attack!"
The Sky Dragon opened its mouth, locking onto Destiny Hero Disk Commander remaining on Youyu's field. The intense light of the Thunderforce Attack churned and gathered in the dragon's mouth, ready to be unleashed at any moment.
The Sky Dragon's attack power is only one thousand, but it is more than enough to destroy Disk Commander, who is acting as a wall. Also, the Pharaoh still has the Black Magician in play, and Youyu's Life Points are down to only one thousand; the Magician's strike will seal his defeat directly.
In just an instant, it had again arrived at a critical juncture of life and death!
"Youyu!" Yugi shouted worriedly.
Youyu's eyes narrowed like a cat's facing a bright light.
The Pharaoh's "Turn Leap" was not only a setup for his "Summon Timing" but also triggered the conditions for the activation of Youyu's Set Card trap on his side!
"Flip Cover Card!" Youyu waved his hand grandly, "Continuous Trap - Earth Erosion!" (Animation Card)
The Pharaoh said coldly, "Traps don't work on gods."
"Not on the gods, but on the Monster Zone the gods reside," Youyu shouted, "Send this Trap Card to the graveyard, selecting the opposing Monster Zone. The monster effects existing in that Monster Zone will be sealed!"
The earth softened, like loamy soil washed by heavy rain overnight. The immense body of the Sky Dragon was suddenly trapped below, struggling as it swung its head at Obelisk, seemingly shouting—
—Bro, save me!
But Obelisk... Obelisk just stood by indifferently, as if he hadn't seen a thing.
[Slifer the Sky Dragon, Attack Power 1000 → Attack Power 0]
"Huh? Aren't Trap Cards ineffective against gods?" The layman Honda expressed confusion again.
So the Master of Traps, Yugi, patiently explained to his little partner: "The 'Earth Erosion' targets the Monster Zone on the field rather than the god itself, and any monster effects within that zone will be nullified.
This card essentially alters the rules within that Monster Zone with the effect of the card; thus, it's not the Trap Card itself nullifying the Egyptian God effects, but the new rules applied to that Monster Zone, so it is effective against gods."
Earth Erosion was originally the Trap Card Yugi used to deal with the Three Egyptian Gods in the final battle of the DM animation.
Originally, Youyu intended to save this trap to seal Obelisk's abilities—whether the opponent used the "Soul Energy MAX" effect to make Obelisk's attack power infinite or to directly destroy all monsters and inflict 4000 damage, this trap could block it.
But unexpectedly, the Pharaoh did not choose to use the ability of Obelisk the Tormentor, but directly chose to attack. So to save his life, he could only use this Trap Card on Slifer the Sky Dragon.
In the animation's final chapter, many people felt that Yugi using this "Earth Erosion" to negate God's effect was nonsense, but it actually wasn't, because according to the effect description in the animation, it actually makes sense.
The Egyptian God can only be immune to "card effects," but cannot be immune to rule influences.
However, when Youyu revealed this Trap Card, Yugi's heart also stirred with waves.
Because this Trap Card was exactly what he had considered using against the Egyptian God!
As expected, the strongest Duelist shares a common understanding of card choice and strategy. Yugi now increasingly believes that Youyu, like himself, has a mature strategy against the Three Egyptian Gods, and he even feels a sense of resonance as if meeting a Duelist of the same type and style.
However, he didn't know that the one who taught Youyu to use "Earth Erosion" to seal the power of the Egyptian God was none other than himself, Yugi...
Poor Slifer the Sky Dragon's effect was sealed, resulting in embarrassment even against the Disk Commander with only 300 defense power. The Disk Commander counter-attacked with two frisbees, striking twice on Slifer's dragon head, dealing a terrifying 300 points of damage.

[Nameless Pharaoh, LP 2000 → LP 1700]
"Then the Dark Magician's attack." He wasn't troubled, "Attack Destiny Hero Disk Commander again, Black Magic!"
The Magician's Magic Staff waved, and the torrent of Black Magic shattered the Disk Commander head-on. The poor Disk Commander briefly reached the peak of life, only to quickly exit as usual.
But in this way, Youyu managed to withstand the Pharaoh's fierce assault this turn. Honestly, the audience below was feeling nervous for Youyu.
Jonouchi couldn't help but think if it were him, he definitely couldn't withstand such relentless attacks from the opponent—kidding me, the Egyptian Gods jumping around like they are free, who can withstand this?
He couldn't help but feel that being able to stand in the Dueling Arena and still skillfully dismantle and counterattack like Youyu is truly a monster!
Youyu exhaled a breath of turbid air.
Enduring such a series of fierce attacks, the pressure on his side was not small, not to mention the despairing oppressive feeling of facing two Egyptian Gods at the same time.
His gaze fell on the last stone tablet in front of the Pharaoh.
But this means that the Pharaoh's hand cards... no, it should be hand tablets, was also only down to the last one. This means the opponent's usable resources are almost exhausted.
Of course, Youyu noted that he's seen quite a few top Duelists before, and someone experienced like him definitely wouldn't set up strange flags, saying things like "Can you draw another miraculous card to fill up your resources for me", etc...
...
... Can you draw another miraculous card to fill up my resources?
Unexpectedly, the Pharaoh stated, if not, then not, who cares?
"Magic 'Monster Reincarnation'." The Pharaoh calmly revealed the last stone tablet.
Monster Reincarnation, return all cards on your field and hand to the card deck, then draw five cards.
Youyu: "..."
I freaking really I freaking.JPG.
Without more words, effects like mandatory removal from the field are all ineffective on the Gods, so the Egyptian Gods on the Pharaoh's field do not need to be shuffled back into the deck, only the "Dark Magician" and "Watapon" need to be returned.
It's one thing for Obelisk the Tormentor, but it's quite surprising that Slifer the Sky Dragon, with its effect negated, wasn't shuffled back into the deck either; it seems that even if its special effect was negated, its divine resistance as a God still remains.
Youyu thought for a moment and roughly understood the reason.
In the original animation, there were scenes showing the card for the Three Egyptian Gods, and the monster effects didn't clearly state that "the Egyptian Gods are immune to Trap effects, Magic Cards have a one-turn effect," or similar.
According to the original, the resistance of Egyptian Gods to card effects is an inherent authority of "Gods", akin to a law rather than a monster effect, which cannot be negated in any way.
To explain it in terms that card players are more familiar with, the divine effect resistance belongs to "external text" of effects, not monster effects, and therefore cannot be negated.
But even so, Slifer the Sky Dragon on the field only has 0 attack, and its "Effect" ability is also sealed, making it more a showpiece without function, instead becoming a shortfall.
"Set two stone tablets on the field." The Pharaoh said, "This round is over."
