He looked the girl up and down, noticing she didn't have any Poke Balls at her waist, not resembling a trainer here to challenge the trial.
After thinking for a moment, Naoki asked, "Is there anything I can help you with?"
The girl nodded, "Um, I wanted to ask if you have any berries for sale here?"
"Berries?" This surprised Naoki, wanting berries could simply be satisfied by buying them in town, right?
The girl saw his confusion and quickly explained, "No, no, it's not that. I want to buy a large quantity of berries. I'm from Sunnytown next door, where they're preparing to hold a Bug-catching contest event, but the berries for making snacks were all eaten by a greedy Snorlax!"
"Without berries, we can't make snacks to attract Bug Type Pokemon, and the Bug-catching contest won't be able to proceed... I've already run to several other farms and didn't see any orchards over there."
Bug-catching contest? Sunnytown next door? Naoki had heard from Mayor Thomas before. He heard their harvest wasn't very good last year.
Naoki hesitated slightly, glancing back at his own orchard, where he'd stored the berries intending to use them for developing Pokeblocks...
But upon thinking it over, he wasn't in a hurry, especially with Calyrex around; even if these berries were sold, they'd grow back quickly.
Given that, he decided to lend a hand!
Thinking of this, Naoki nodded and said, "Yes, a few days ago I happened to harvest a batch of berries that hasn't been sold yet, take a look at how many you need."
Hearing this, the girl immediately breathed a sigh of relief, "The more the better!"
Naoki: "..."
He simply brought the girl to his warehouse, looking at the pile of berries inside, the girl waved her hand, "I want them all."
Naoki exclaimed, "Can so many berries be used up at the Bug-catching contest?"
He knew about the Bug-catching contest; it was a competition comparing who could catch the rare and precious Bug Type Pokemon.
The girl nodded shyly, "Yes, they can! Because there have been many trainers coming into town these days, all eager to participate in this Bug-catching contest!"
"Alright then!" Naoki roughly calculated the price of this batch of berries and asked, "Do you have a vehicle over there to transport them?"
The girl said, a bit awkwardly, "We don't have a vehicle."
Naoki: "..."
He had to reluctantly compromise and then asked, "How long does it roughly take to drive from Sunnytown to Porto Marinada Town?"
The girl: "Driving takes about twenty minutes!"
Twenty minutes? That's quite close.
Naoki nodded and simply said, "Then I'll drive to deliver them for you!"
The girl was full of gratitude, "Then I'll leave it to you!"
Because there were other matters in Sunnytown, the girl quickly paid the deposit and rode back on a Cyclizar.
Naoki, on the other hand, began packing the berries with a group of Pokemon and loading boxes of berries onto the pickup truck.
Once everything was done, Naoki sat in the driver's seat and honked the horn twice, "I'm heading out, does anyone want to accompany me?"
As soon as he finished talking, several Pokemon ran over.
Ogerpon happily took the passenger seat, while the little Alcremie jumped onto the central console, its little face pressed against the windshield, looking forward mischievously.
The fluffy Pawmot and Glaceon, along with a few Dragonair, nestled into the back seat, leaning on the chair to look ahead.
Cyclizar and Koraidon sat in the rear compartment.
Flutter Mane and Dragonite didn't follow, but after Naoki greeted them, he started the car, taking a cab full of Pokemon out the door to deliver goods.
On the road, the Pokemon's growls and laughter intertwined into a song, making Naoki feel like he was taking a group of kindergarten kids out for a spring outing.
Naoki glanced at these Pokemon through the rearview mirror.
With them around, he might never find this trip boring again!
