For no less time than they arrived at the sister cabin, the duo of Mistress and Alexandria had been shown the surprise that was the remaining members of the crew of the Tempest Tide. Scott, ever excited to shock people, had pulled the two in through the front entrance to show them what was about. As they walked through the door, Alexandria was met with someone who looked quite familiar.
"Who are you?"
Lia, who was tied to a chair with her fur overcoat enwrapping her to make the girl look almost like a furry caterpillar, was feeling like she was looking in the mirror, or perhaps something more accurate to a history textbook.
"I was about to ask the same thing."
Both of them had skin as white as snow and dark brown hair. Along with the similarities was the incorporation of furs into their outfits and being exceptionally but not dangerously thin. When their hazel eyes met, there was something like a string between them that connected the two. Alexandria initially got the belief that this young woman was a descendant of some random person in the York bloodline. She was only half right.
"What is your family name?"
"York, why do you ask? Scott, can you get me out of this rediculus set up already?"
To show the effort that went into the operation, Scott went through the effort of tying up the messy doctor and curious descendant.
"Sure thing. Boy, you're going to be so mad when you find out what BB did."
"What did BB do?"
As Scott cut the ropes that bound the two pirates to their chairs, Lia took a moment to step away from the original unit members but still keenly observe Alexandria. Who is she?
"Alright, so after your little accident-"
"You mean I fell off my horse and died?"
"Yeah, that's the one."
Lia was completely in the dark about what they were saying.
"You died?"
"Long story. Just know I'm not built for horseback riding."
"Okay?"
Scott reentered the conversation.
"Okay, since I was so suddenly cut off, allow me to get back on topic. BB dug up your grave, and he also dug up the graves of thousands of people for their DNA. When he got that DNA down to his lab, he began making people from those people's DNA. One of those mixtures was with someone and you."
Alexandria threw up in her mouth a tad. BB had made a person using her DNA. That slimy piece of sh-.
"So that's how I'm here?"
"Yes, your family was made from her. BB made sure to have them well put up in society. Believe me, he bent over backwards for you guys."
Scott thought about all the things BB had done. Most of those things were simple victimless crimes. White collar stuff and other things were bad, really bad. Lia, despite not having the best vision, found this person to be similar to herself. Though she was far more outspoken than the likes of herself. When she had made way towards the ancestor, both of them had a strange mutual acceptance for one another's existence.
"Wait a minute, weren't you there?"
"I was banished at the time. But yes, I did have knowledge that BB had a lab, but as for what was happening inside is beyond me."
Mistress was left standing next to a man who was very familiar. This time, he wasn't family. She had what can only be described as deja vu and a reversal of the Mandela affect. She swore that the two of them would cross paths in the future sometime but had no clue as to why such a thing was going on.
"Why are you here?"
"I'm a little early, am I?"
The two had both felt the effect. It sent a shiver down their spines and when the two walked away from one another, the two had ended up right back next to one another. Mistress felt a headache as she went for the door and Dr. John went back from the kitchen.
"See you later, I guess."
"Sienorra. If that's how it goes."
When the two separated, they had shivers in their spines and an extra pep in their step to move forward towards their intended spots.
"Well, this went better than intended."
Alexandria knew that Scott could never make such an intricate lie. She would hit BB if they had ever met again.
"You expected this to go bad?"
"Uh huh."
She glared at him before going with Lia to grab some breakfast at Sear's kitchen.
"Ah, Alex, nice to see you got to meet Lia. Just know she can't see too good."
Sears had made it up to Lia for the situation involving the car by giving her some extra bacon. She promptly accepted the apology and had been nice enough to eat it all. Later that morning, Sears would be talking with his girlfriend, Abigail. The two had been dating for quite some time and after she got promoted at her job (in part thanks to a friend from D.O.W.N who also happened to be their landlord) he had been looking forward to renting an apartment with her.
"So, what's scheduled for the next few days?"
"We have a job in New Chicago and also, you need to get your homework done."
Not only had he been working as a mercenary again and been employing the rest of the unit at it, but he had also enrolled Alexandria and Mistress into high school. To add onto it, he enrolled Scott into night school.
"Alright, I'll do it, but what is the point of algebra? Also, I'm pretty sure that the geography teacher is a… what do you call it again?"
"Creep?"
"Yeah!"
Lia was silent. She was physically four years younger than Alexandria. The two could pass for siblings.
"So, what am I supposed to do?"
Looking down at his watch, Sears realized that he had some time to kill. He could have an hour or two to spend before meeting with Abigail.
"Well, I could enroll you in a school. Uh, Joey, how much money do we have?"
Joey, whose hands had been broken, lay on the couch with nothing much left to do, acted as an accountant for the unit.
"Thirty-three thousand, five hundred-nineteen dollars."
"Thanks Joey. So, would you like to get back into school?"
Not knowing much about schooling outside of her tutors, she accepted the job. She never talked to kids her age outside of Sugar. Wherever he was now that he was alive.
"Can you grab more pie crust while you're in town?"
"I don't want to keep telling you this Joey, but it isn't smart to keep trying to make piggies in a blanket when both your hands are broken. Also, try to call the landlord in a few minutes and get him to make an ID for our new friend. What's your name again, miss?"
"Lia."
"Lia! But yes, make sure to call him. It'll show up in our rent so don't worry about paying I'll take care of that."
Joey sighed before lifting up the landline and using the rotery dial to dial the landlord. He had been nice and frequently pretended to be a doctor. But most importantly, he was willing to have privileges for his tenants if that meant a bonus in rent.
"Where are we going?"
"That's what I'm asking. Alexandria, would you like to give her a ride to school? I'll take care of it today."
In-between a slice of bacon she nodded her head. Sears grabbed his car keys and the two were off in his military style jeep. When they got to the school. A shiver went down Sears's spine. He had been reminded of the church where he and the rest of the unit had fought the monster. Scott and Joey were still feeling the full effects of that.
