(MARCELLO'S POV)
The television is on but I haven't really been watching it.
It's just noise.
A distraction.
Something I can use to fill the silence while I wait.
I sit back on the couch with one arm stretched along the backrest, my eyes on the screen, but every few seconds they drift away on their own.
To the clock on the wall. Then to my phone on the table. Then back to the clock again
I'm beginning to feel anxious.
Too much time has passed and my men should have called by now.
The ambush plan is more than simple. My men have the numbers, the element of surprise, and every possible advantage. The Viperas are going to be caught off guard and overwhelmed before they can even think straight. The ruby necklace should already be on its way to me. The flash drive too.
So why the fuck am I still sitting here waiting?
I glance at the clock again, then at my phone.
Still nothing.
A muscle in my jaw ticks.
