(KRYSTAL'S POV)
My heart aches badly as I lower my eyes to my lap, unable to hold Valentino's gaze any longer.
I don't just feel guilty.
I feel ashamed.
Every word he's thrown at me hurts. And now, he keeps looking at me like I'm something rotten.
Angelo slowly lowers the gun in his hand and steps away from the panic room door, turning toward Val.
"That's not what happened," he says. "The three of us weren't involved at the time."
Val meets Angelo's gaze.
Angelo continues. "I walked in on Krystal and Raffaele naked in bed. And I didn't say anything because of how important the mission was to all of us. You know how you are, Val. You know what you're like when your emotions get involved. If I'd told you then, the whole fucking plan would've gone up in flames."
Val pushes himself to his feet.
He sways for a second before finding his balance, but the anger on his face is stronger than the weakness in his body.
