The next morning, David arrived at the office earlier than usual. He had barely slept after the mysterious phone call, but he didn't want Liana to notice how worried he was. He stood in front of the large window in his office, looking at the city below while holding a cup of coffee. The image of the man from the previous night kept returning to his mind.
A soft knock came from the door. "Come in," David said calmly. The door opened, and Liana entered carrying several documents. She stopped when she saw his tired face. "You didn't sleep well, did you?" Liana asked softly. David looked at her and forced a small smile. "I'm fine," he replied, trying to hide his exhaustion.
Liana walked closer and placed the documents on his desk. "You're not fine," she said firmly. David sighed softly and looked away. "I just have a lot on my mind," he admitted. Liana looked at him for a moment before reaching for his hand. "You don't have to pretend with me," she said gently.
