Chapter 4 - Heaven’s Second Chance

Darkness.

Absolute darkness.

No flames.

No screams.

No sound of collapsing buildings.

No roar of alien warships.

No blood-red sky.

For a long moment, Rudra felt nothing.

No pain.

No weight.

No breath.

It was as if the world itself had vanished.

Then—

A single drop of light appeared.

A tiny silver spark in the endless void.

Rudra's eyelids trembled.

He slowly opened his eyes.

What greeted him was not the ruined battlefield.

He stood in an endless white space.

The ground beneath his feet looked like a mirror made of clouds, reflecting an infinite sky of pale gold and silver.

There was no sun.

Yet everything glowed.

Soft.

Warm.

Sacred.

Rudra looked down at himself.

His wounds were gone.

The deep gash across his chest had vanished.

The poison no longer burnt through his veins.

Even the blood on his hands had disappeared.

He clenched his fists.

Then his eyes widened.

"Am I… dead?"

His voice echoed endlessly through the white expanse.

A moment later, another voice answered.

Ancient.

Boundless.

Neither male nor female.

It seemed to come from everywhere at once.

"Yes."

Rudra's body froze.

The voice carried a pressure unlike anything he had ever felt.

Even at the peak of his cultivation in his previous life, he had never encountered such a terrifying existence.

He slowly lifted his gaze.

Ahead of him, the white space rippled.

A figure emerged from the light.

It was impossible to tell whether it was a man, a woman, or something beyond both.

Its form was made entirely of shimmering golden light.

A halo of stars revolved behind it.

Rudra's instincts screamed.

This being was beyond the gods.

Beyond heaven.

Beyond fate itself.

The figure looked at him.

And for the first time in his life—

Rudra lowered his head.

"Who are you?"

The figure remained silent for a moment.

Then it spoke.

"I am the witness of cycles."

Rudra frowned.

The Witness of Cycles.

The name itself sounded like an ancient law of the universe.

A cold realisation struck him.

"You brought me here."

"No."

The figure's voice remained calm.

"Your will brought you here."

Rudra's fists tightened.

His mind flashed back.

Luna's final smile.

Nyla's confession.

Ten empty spaces on the battlefield.

Varun's betrayal.

Elena's cold eyes.

His breathing turned heavy.

Then rage surged through him.

"If this is death, then send me back!"

His voice thundered through the white world.

"I am not done!"

The light around the figure flickered.

For a moment, countless images appeared in the air.

The battlefield.

The burning city.

His disciples were dying one after another.

His family.

A woman crying in a dark room.

Seven girls gathered around an old photograph.

Rudra's pupils shrank.

His heart stopped.

The photo.

A baby in a white cloth.

A golden pendant around its neck.

The Desai crest.

His voice trembled.

"My family…"

The Witness spoke again.

"Your greatest regret is not your death."

Rudra's jaw tightened.

It was right.

Death meant nothing to him.

What truly destroyed him was everything he had failed to protect.

His disciples.

His family.

His future.

The figure stepped closer.

"If given another chance… what would you choose?"

Silence.

Then Rudra slowly raised his head.

His eyes were no longer filled with grief.

Only resolve.

"This time…"

His voice came out low and cold.

"I will protect them."

The white world trembled.

He continued.

"I will find my father."

"My mother."

"My seven sisters."

"I will build an empire greater than before."

His aura slowly began to rise.

Purple lightning crackled around him.

"And I will kill every traitor who dared touch what was mine."

The Witness stared at him.

For the first time—

It smiled.

A faint, unreadable smile.

"Then your will has been acknowledged."

The white world shattered.

CRACK!

The endless space fractured like glass.

Golden light exploded around him.

Rudra's eyes widened.

"What—"

The Witness's voice echoed one final time.

"Remember this."

The light became blinding.

"A second life is not a gift."

"It is a trial."

The pressure intensified.

"Reveal your rebirth to no one."

"Change fate carefully."

"Every altered thread creates a new storm."

Then—

One final sentence.

The words that would stay with him forever.

"Protect the stars this time."

BOOM!

The white world exploded.

Rudra felt himself falling.

Faster.

Faster.

Faster.

The battlefield disappeared.

The heavens vanished.

Darkness swallowed everything.

Then—

He heard it.

A woman's voice.

Gentle.

Familiar.

"Rudra… wake up."

His eyes snapped open.
