At the crest of a jagged peak nearly two miles away from the town, three figures stood in silence, their gazes fixed on the unfolding scene below. The wind howled faintly at that altitude, tugging at their cloaks, causing them to ripple like restless shadows. Two of the figures were completely concealed beneath dark cloaks, their identities hidden, their presence almost unreal. The third stood slightly apart—his long hair, stretching down his back, swayed gently with the wind, giving him a more defined silhouette against the pale sky.
From their vantage point, everything was visible.
They had chosen their prey carefully—a sand worm that had surfaced briefly nearly a mile behind before vanishing once more beneath the endless dunes. Yet despite its ability to disappear beneath the earth and travel unseen, Enzo had pursued it relentlessly.
