Chapter 1550 - Chapter 1546: A Risky Decision!

Trapped in that contradiction, Mewtwo deliberately kept its distance from humans and avoided direct contact with them as much as possible. Yet its power constantly attracted humans fascinated by it.

And Team Rocket was undoubtedly the group that pursued it the most.

However, Mewtwo itself was a contradictory combination of violence and intelligence. Due to the mixture of many different genes, combined with the fusion of Mew's DNA and its repeated reorganizations, it inherited traits from those powerful yet violent Pokémon, while at the same time inheriting Mew's unique agility and wisdom.

Team Rocket's original intention had been to create a combat Pokémon without its own consciousness, but they had clearly underestimated Mew's DNA — or rather, they had underestimated Mewtwo's capacity and ability to learn.

Even with special control devices, even if they could somewhat restrict the autonomous development of Mewtwo's DNA, even if they attempted to prevent the birth of its independent thoughts, the final result would still be the same: they had underestimated this existence capable of rivaling Mew, and even surpassing it in pure combat.

No matter how much they restricted it, the moment the question appeared in Mewtwo's mind — "Who am I really? What am I?" — that would represent Mewtwo's true birth.

At that moment, Mewtwo, motionless inside the nutrient tank, even appeared somewhat adorable.

Cain directly activated the system to scan Mewtwo's data.

Pokémon: Mewtwo (Unknown) — Consciousness has not yet been born

Gender: Genderless

Level: 15

Type: Psychic

Ability: Pressure

Held Item: None

Egg Moves: None

Basic Moves: Laser Focus, Psywave, Confusion, Disable, Safeguard, Swift, Future Sight

Learned Moves: None

TM Moves: None

These were the data obtained from the system scan.

For now, nothing particularly extraordinary could be seen; it appeared to be just an ordinary Pokémon, but Cain did not dare underestimate it in the slightest.

There was also something very important: in Cain's memory, Mewtwo could also Mega Evolve, and like Charizard, it was one of those "creator's favorites," possessing two different Mega Evolution forms!

Having fused with a large number of genes from various Pokémon, perhaps precisely because of this, it had two different evolutionary forms. And precisely because it had incorporated so many Pokémon genes, Mewtwo, in essence, had a fundamental difference from Mew: Mewtwo could be called a Legendary Pokémon.

While Mew is a Mythical Pokémon!

That was an essential difference.

Since Mewtwo could be compared with a top-tier Legendary Pokémon, its base stat total reached 680 points, and after Mega Evolution it directly soared to 780. In Cain's memory, the only one capable of achieving something similar was Rayquaza, the one in Hoenn capable of crushing the super-ancient Legendary Pokémon Groudon and Kyogre.

Furthermore, Mewtwo's two Mega Evolutions represented two different combat styles. One elevated its physical attack to the extreme, turning it completely into a psychic Pokémon specialized in close combat, while also adding the Fighting type.

The other pushed its already tremendously powerful special attack to the extreme. In that form, Mewtwo retained only the Psychic type, but its appearance became much closer to that of Mew.

In other words, these two different Mega Evolution forms represented both the heterogeneous genes of other Pokémon within Mewtwo, as well as the genes of Mew itself.

Cain slowly placed his hand against the glass of the tank.

Seeing this scene from behind, Blaine wanted to speak to stop him, but Giovanni stopped him with a raised hand.

Although he did not know what Cain intended to do, Giovanni did know that Cain was a very powerful psychic. If it were an ordinary Pokémon, for a psychic to communicate with it would be quite simple.

But the current Mewtwo was different. When Team Rocket created Mewtwo, their plan from the beginning had been to prevent the birth of its independent consciousness, its own will.

In other words, from the very start, what Team Rocket needed was not a Pokémon capable of thinking or judging for itself.

What they needed was only the strength that this Pokémon possessed — or in other words, a body capable of containing the power stored within Mew's genes. All control would depend entirely on the trainer.

For that purpose, Team Rocket had specially developed a device capable of transferring the trainer's mind into Mewtwo's brain, stimulating its neural system and mobilizing its body.

Therefore, even if Cain tried now to perceive or even contact Mewtwo through psychic power, it was destined to be useless.

And just as expected, after Cain placed his hand on the nutrient tank, Giovanni saw a subtle trace of surprise appear in his eyes.

An involuntary smile appeared on Giovanni's face, because neither he nor Blaine had told Cain that Mewtwo lacked the capacity for thought.

But what Giovanni did not know was that Cain had not extended his psychic power into the tank in order to contact the current Mewtwo.

The current Mewtwo was nothing more than a body.

What Cain had done was plant a psychic seed of his own within Mewtwo's mind.

In truth, Cain himself was not certain whether his psychic powers could plant a psychic seed within Mewtwo's mind, nor did he know what would happen afterward. He did not even know what the future Mewtwo, once its consciousness was born, would think upon discovering that within its mind existed a psychic seed belonging to another person — or whether it would directly come looking for Cain and then beat him up.

Cain could not confirm any of that.

Originally, he only wanted to try, but he did not expect that the attempt would succeed without any obstacle, and Giovanni and Blaine had not tried to stop him either.

This was also because Giovanni had never imagined that psychic power could be used in such a way. He had even read Sabrina's manual on psychic abilities specifically in order to understand the strange methods of psychics and avoid falling victim to them.

But in that manual, there was no such bizarre ability as the psychic seed.

So the accident happened suddenly and unexpectedly.

At this moment, Cain could not temporarily remove the psychic seed either. Who could have imagined that simply testing it would actually succeed in planting it?

Although Cain had already planned to make certain arrangements regarding Mewtwo, this was not exactly how he had intended to do it. Who knew whether Mewtwo might take revenge on him in the future?
