Chapter 155 - Chapter 156: Johnson and Diavolo

"My past will completely disappear."

Using Torbio's body, Diavolo stood on the top floor of a building. He wore a beige trench coat, and his sleeves were empty.

Near the airport, Cioccolata's Green Day ability had begun to slowly engulf the city from the airport. Looking at the trail of corpses, he didn't feel the secret joy he had imagined. Instead, there was a hint of melancholy as the streets were filled with the dead faces of his fellow townsmen who had grown up drinking water from the same river as him.

To erase his past, he wanted to make the city named Olbia completely disappear.

He once cleared a space in his heart, as large as a basketball court, to store his unknown past, and at the same time, he planted it full of small daisies, once placed by Trish's mother's ear, representing memories.

Until this day, he understood that even a space the size of a basketball court could not be tolerated by others. On this day, the suffocating past that entangled him had grown long enough to strangle him.

"It's all your fault." He looked up at the green mold scattered all over the sky, knowing that his past could no longer even sow daisies.

Just then, Cioccolata called him.

Johnson Joffrey, Risotto's nephew?

His ability can actually be immune to Green Day's attacks, and now he is alone on the streets of Olbia?

Risotto has been killed by my own hands.

Is this young man coming to seek revenge on me? So he's temporarily with Bucciarati and the others to find me? Or is it, as Cioccolata said, to find something?

"You will kill the last member of the Assassination Team."

Persephone's words appeared in Diavolo's mind.

Persephone held the fate of the future, something his King Crimson could not yet reach. Diavolo deeply believed her; if Stands of all kinds existed in this world, why couldn't there be a God?

The last member of the Assassination Team I am to kill is Johnson Joffrey.

Go see your uncle.

Diavolo turned around, his beige trench coat flapping in the wind on the rooftop. He quickly descended the stairs. Just as he walked out the main door and began to wander the deserted streets, a speeding red car drove past him.

Most of the people in this city had already been evacuated, and the empty streets were as terrifying as a ghost town.

The red sports car driving past stood out immensely. Diavolo looked at the person in the driver's seat in that instant—

The blond young man drove a red sports car, speeding past him, and he also saw him in that instant.

Red eyes and heterochromatic pupils met. The car's speed was too fast, but Diavolo still exchanged a glance with the blond, red-eyed, pale-skinned young man—

The wind stirred up by the speeding car blew his long beige coat, making a 'whoosh' sound—

Although Diavolo only saw him for a moment, in that instant when those red eyes looked at him, Diavolo even felt a strange sensation. This feeling was like being stared at by some kind of wild beast.

This feeling had never occurred before, in Diavolo's dictionary, because ever since he obtained the Stand, King Crimson, this feeling had never happened again.

Although the speeding car blurred the faces, Diavolo still saw it clearly; those eyes, there was no mistake—

It was Johnson Joffrey!

He looked at me too just now, why? Why did he look at me? I was clearly just a passerby, and I didn't expect that using Torbio's body would still attract attention.

Could Johnson Joffrey know that I have two souls and recognize me as the leader of Passione?

Impossible! But why did he look at me?

Diavolo fell into deep thought, because Johnson Joffrey had indeed looked at him.

He looked around. He had walked this street many years ago, but he hadn't set foot on it for decades. The scenery of the street was now too different from elsewhere.

He hissed, mocking himself internally, and at the same time, he suddenly understood.

The street was empty, only him. If he were Johnson Joffrey, he would have noticed himself, a passerby.

I was actually afraid, thinking he had seen through my true identity. No one in this world knows my true identity, let alone that he is currently using Torbio's body.

It was just because Johnson Joffrey looked a bit like Dio Brando that it almost scared me.

You will kill the last member of the Assassination Team in Olbia.

My enemy is you. This is fate's arrangement. Fate made you and I cross paths —

I will not forget this guy.

Johnson Joffrey is that man's son; there's no doubt about it, because Kujo Jotaro said so.

The first time Diavolo heard the name DIO, he was slightly startled, thinking he had misheard, because DIO means 'God' in italian.

Out of instinctive fear, when he heard of DIO, he was still just the boss of an ordinary gang in Italy. His family, 'Passion,' only had a few members, but he still tried to find the old woman who had bought his arrow.

After investigating, he learned about DIO, that man from Egypt, a vampire who had lived for a hundred years.

Diavolo kept his distance from such matters; he was not interested in anything outside of Italy.

Diavolo's heterochromatic double pupils were a bit small. Although he had Torbio's face, this eye made him appear somewhat cold and sinister.

Johnson Joffrey's heart was in his throat as he watched Diavolo get further and further away in the rearview mirror.

Was that Diavolo just now?

He almost stepped on the gas pedal.

Why am I so unlucky to have encountered Diavolo? Is heaven helping Diavolo? Diavolo doesn't know yet that I'm going to the harbor to find Polnareff. Now, as long as I gain Polnareff's trust, I can get the arrow.

Now, unlike the original story, Diavolo doesn't know that the Assassination Team is still united, and he certainly doesn't know their goal is the Olbia lookout tower.

By delaying the Assassination Team, Diavolo also doesn't know that Polnareff is still alive. Now I am only one step away from the arrow.

Why?

—But he just happened to run into Diavolo.

Tsk tsk, Olbia is so big, why did he have to run into Diavolo?

Love at first sight?

Ptooey, ptooey, I shouldn't disgust myself.

I should have brought Giotto. That way I could have avoided him.
