Mega Gyarados let out a guttural roar of agony, its eyes bleeding into a deeper
shade of crimson.
Those two Vacuum Waves hadn't just landed; they had struck with surgical
precision. They hit the most vulnerable part of its massive frame—the delicate
high-pressure water-ejection ports along its sides.
A critical hit. Combine that with the Sniper ability, which amplified the damage
of every vital strike, and the result was catastrophic. Even though Vacuum Wave
wasn't a STAB (Same-Type Attack Bonus) move for Inteleon, the sheer lethality of
the precision strike had managed to heavily wound the twenty-meter serpent.
Enraged, Mega Gyarados lashed out, its massive tail coming down with the force
of a falling skyscraper.
Inteleon, however, didn't panic. It performed an elegant, low-profile bridge,
its lithe body bending backward as it pushed off the ground. It dodged the
crushing weight with the grace of a professional gymnast, immediately sliding
back to re-establish a safe distance.
Incredible...
Kenji was genuinely shaken. This Inteleon's combat awareness and reaction speed
were beyond elite—it was arguably superior to the primary aces of the other
regional Elite Four members. It was clear why Lawson sat at the top of the
hierarchy despite Yuna Su possessing a Legendary Zapdos. In the world of
high-level battling, "The Old Ginger is always the spiciest." Experience
mattered more than raw power.
Lawson, his weathered face etched with a faint smile, watched the exchange. This
Inteleon was his first partner, his true starter. Its power was nearly equal to
his Starmie. The only reason it wasn't the "Face" of his team was that it lacked
a Mega Evolution. If Inteleon could tap into that same transcendent power, the
title of his "Ace" would have shifted long ago.
"Mega Gyarados! Earthquake!"
The serpent roared, its tail slamming into the frozen surface of the island with
world-shaking force.
BOOM!
The ice shattered instantly, and a massive seismic shockwave rippled through the
rock and water.
"Inteleon! Airborne!"
Inteleon leaped, propelling itself high into the air to escape the ground-based
trauma. At the apex of its jump, the cloak-like membranes along its back flared
open, transforming into a biological hang-glider. It caught the rising thermals
and the remaining ocean breeze, circling the arena like a predator.
It raised a slender finger, aiming down at Mega Gyarados, its eyes locking onto
a new set of vitals. It was preparing to snipe again.
"Hurricane!"
"HOOOOOOR!"
Suddenly, the mild breeze Inteleon was using to glide turned into a violent
gale. Mega Gyarados unhinged its jaws, and the sky itself seemed to scream. The
wind began to swirl in a localized vortex, turning Inteleon's stable flight into
a chaotic scramble. Because it was reliant on the wind to stay aloft, the
Inteleon was suddenly trapped by its own maneuver.
"Close the distance! Giga Impact!"
"HOOOOOOOOOR!"
The Sea Sovereign lunged, its massive body coiling before launching itself into
the sky like a ballistic missile.
"Inteleon! Hydro Pump!"
The agent didn't panic. It retracted its membranes slightly to gain speed and
pointed its fingers toward the sky, not the opponent.
THOOM!
It unleashed a high-pressure Hydro Pump away from Mega Gyarados, the massive
recoil acting as a reverse thruster. It rocketed toward the ground, narrowly
avoiding the serpent's pounce by a fraction of a second.
"Aqua Meteor!" Kenji countered.
Just as Mega Gyarados reached the peak of its lunge, it twisted its massive body
mid-air. It plummeted toward the landing Inteleon, its body wreathed in a
high-pressure veil of water.
Inteleon's pupils shrank.
"Protect!"
"YI-HA!"
It knew it couldn't outrun a falling meteor. A shimmering hexagonal screen of
green energy erupted in front of the agent.
BOOM!
The impact was cataclysmic. Mega Gyarados slammed into the shield with the
weight of a mountain.
Crack... crack... SHATTER!
The Protect barrier held long enough to save Inteleon's life, but it couldn't
save the island. Between the previous Earthquake, the Draco Meteors, and now
this final impact, the central rocky platform finally reached its breaking
point. It disintegrated like a house of cards, falling into the deep moat.
Inteleon landed on a floating piece of rubble, its breathing shallow. But true
to its training, its cool, mechanical gaze never left the dust cloud at the
center of the impact. It raised its finger once more, pointing it directly into
the heart of the smoke.
It was ready to fire.
