Chapter 432: The King of the Sea! Kingdra!
The shockwave from the collision between Hurricane and Focus Blast didn't just
knock Mega Gyarados back; it completely shredded the remaining Haze lingering in
the arena.
"Mega Gyarados! Finish it with Aqua Tail!"
Mega Gyarados righted itself mid-air, its massive fins vibrating with power.
With a thunderous BOOM, it lunged toward Poliwrath.
The blue brawler tried to raise its arms to intercept, but its muscles suddenly
locked up. Static electricity hissed across its wet skin, and the Paralysis took
hold. It was frozen to the spot.
Kenji seized the moment. Mega Gyarados reached striking distance and swung its
massive, armored tail like a heavy scythe.
THWACK!
CRASH!
The blow slammed Poliwrath into the dirt. The brawler's head bounced off the
rock, and the sheer force of the impact caused its brain to rattle, momentarily
short-circuiting its consciousness. The ground beneath it buckled, forming a pit
that nearly swallowed the Pokémon whole.
Mega Gyarados prepared to swing again to seal the deal, but Poliwrath—driven by
pure veteran instinct—managed a desperate roll, narrowly avoiding the follow-up
strike.
However, in its paralyzed state, it couldn't match the serpent's agility. Mega
Gyarados whipped its tail again, catching Poliwrath squarely in the ribs.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
It was like watching someone swat a tennis ball. Finally, one last,
bone-shattering swipe launched Poliwrath across the arena.
SPLASH!
The brawler fell into the moat for the second and final time.
Mega Gyarados didn't follow it down. It hovered over the water, waiting. A few
seconds later, the rounded form of Poliwrath bobbed to the surface, belly-up.
Its eyes were wide, replaced by the iconic "swirls" of a total knockout. It was
out cold.
"Poliwrath is unable to battle! Mega Gyarados wins!" the referee announced.
"Come back, Poliwrath."
Lawson recalled his fallen comrade without a word of disappointment. He
immediately reached for his second Poké Ball and hurled it into the water.
"Rise to the challenge! Kingdra!"
Lawson's second combatant materialized in the depths.

The Kingdra drifted in the water, its triangular eyes calm as it appraised the

Mega-evolved Legendary-tier opponent, the Seahorse remained unnervingly elegant.
"Dragon Pulse!" Kenji commanded.
"HOOOOOOOOOR!"
Mega Gyarados unhinged its jaws, unleashing a beam of concentrated,
violet-tinted draconic energy that screamed toward the water.
"Submerge!"
SPLASH!
Kingdra dove instantly. The Dragon Pulse struck the surface, creating a massive
explosion of steam and spray, but the beam dissipated in the depths, missing its
mark.
Seeing the opponent refusing to surface, Kenji went back to his reliable trap.
"Thunder!"
"HOOOOOOOOR!"
CRACK-BOOM!
Bolts of golden lightning tore through the rain clouds, striking the moat.
"Now! Whirlpool into Hydro Pump!"
WHOOSH!
Suddenly, the water beneath Gyarados began to spin at a violent velocity,
forming a massive aquatic vortex. At the very center of the funnel, Kingdra
rose, using the centripetal force to launch a high-pressure jet of water.
"HOOOOOR?!"
Mega Gyarados tried to bank, but the speed of the Hydro Pump—boosted by the rain
and Kingdra's sheer level—was too fast. It took the hit squarely in the chest.
The serpent was shoved back nearly eight meters, its massive tail slamming into
the island with a roar. It snarled, the Water-type move doing little damage due
to resistance, but the physical force was staggering.
Meanwhile, Kingdra was hovering within the eye of the Whirlpool. Looking
closely, Kenji noticed a thin, shimmering screen of blue wind beneath the
Seahorse.
Twister!
Twister was a low-power Dragon move, usually reserved for young Pokémon. But
this Kingdra was using the air currents to levitate itself above the electrified
water. Its mastery over its own moves had reached a level of mechanical
perfection.
"Dragon Pulse!"
This time, the beam came from Kingdra.
"Counter it! Dragon Pulse!"
BOOM!
Two beams of violet energy collided in mid-air, perfectly matched in intensity.
They pushed against each other for a long moment before detonating in a blinding
flash, the shockwave echoing through the valley.
"Draco Meteor!" Lawson roared.
"KIIIIIIING!"
Lawson's playstyle shifted into high gear. Kingdra fired a sphere of
concentrated orange energy toward the clouds. A second later, the sky rained
down a barrage of glowing, draconic meteors.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
The arena was bombarded. Mega Gyarados became a "Dragon in the Clouds," weaving
its massive body through the falling stars.
"Scale Shot!" Kenji yelled.
"HOOOOOOR!"
Gyarados whipped its body, shedding several of its hard, sapphire-colored
scales. The scales transformed into razor-sharp projectiles that streaked toward
Kingdra.
Whish-whish-whish!
Kingdra used Waterfall to dive back into its Whirlpool, but several scales still
bit into its hide. In exchange for the defense drop, Mega Gyarados's speed
spiked. It ignored the few falling meteors that clipped its armor and dove
headfirst into the moat.
SPLASH!
Mega Gyarados finally took the fight to the water. It reached Kingdra in
seconds.
The Seahorse didn't retreat. It answered with a violent Wave Crash.
THOOM!
The underwater collision was so powerful that the trainers above could hear the
muffled roar of the impact through the ground. The battle of the Sea Sovereigns
had officially descended into a brawl.
