Chapter 5 - CHAPTER 4: Night

Ron Irus left Quân there by himself. He walked outside and gazed up at the night sky.

However, the moment he looked up, he suddenly froze.

Within his line of sight, the glittering light of the stars began connecting with one another.

This was night-sky transmission magic, a method of receiving information based on starlight.

Ron knew this all too well. Dozens of stars were shining in the night sky, forming the shape of an eye—you'd have to be blind not to see it.

He stared at the starry sky and casually muttered a single sentence.

"Put your fangs away. You're just a cat pretending to be a tiger."

With that, he nonchalantly pulled a cigarette from his pocket, lit it up, and took a drag, completely ignoring the sky as he focused on thinking about the place where Quân would stay.

The place Ron was referring to was supposed to be Quân's home—a lavish, glamorous grand mansion.

Thud, thud

Ron stepped out of a dilapidated, ruined mansion that bore the hallmark of destructive pranks by mischievous kids.

It looked like a haunted mansion straight out of a horror movie. But if that were all it was, it would be a paradise instead of a nightmare.

Because this place… was incredibly eerie. It wasn't like those movies where all you need is a knife and some plot armor to survive, or even find a way to exorcise the demon.

"This mansion itself is a literal living nightmare. It's a collective clusterfuck of twisted logic!"

Quân cursed out loud. He was driving himself crazy over the non-stop bullshit that had happened to him today.

"When I said I needed a place to sleep, IT MEANS I NEED TO SLEEP! IN A DECENT PLACE! NOT A PLACE WHERE MAGGOTS POP OUT THE MOMENT YOU BREATHE.

HAVE YOU EVER EVEN WATCHED A MOVIE?! I AM DEFINITELY NOT DOING A 24-HOUR SURVIVAL VLOG!"

"Why judge a book by its cover? While you were taking a bath, I came here to prepare this place for you."

"Motherfucker, YOU SAID YOU WERE GOING TO GO TEND TO YOUR WOUNDS!"

Quân aggressively grabbed the collar of Ron's shirt. He wasn't stupid enough to step inside that horror house.

After washing up at Ron's place, Quân had been brought to his new home—a place that looked absolutely nothing like a residence. Frankly, he was certain he would encounter a roommate who wouldn't be sharing the bill.

Essentially, he knew that magic was the fundamental basis of this world. Even a child knew magic; that was something he had figured out earlier.

As for him, he didn't understand a single damn thing about magic.

'Wait, is there a chance that I have sky-high potential, or maybe some hidden skills from transmigrating? Could it be… I'm actually a god descended upon the mortal realm?!'

Noticing the look in Quân's eyes, Ron smiled and brushed his hand away. The squelching 'squish, squish' sound of Ron's footsteps on the muddy ground snapped Quân back to reality. Ron walked toward a tree overgrown with dense branches and roots.

He looked at Quân, whose veins were bulging on his arms from flexing, and asked:

"How many possible transmigration scenarios have you calculated by now, Quân?"

Quân thought it over, took two steps back, and said nonchalantly, "Not a single one."

"Oh, alright. Since you say so, I agree."

Ron smiled and slowly touched the wild foliage, gesturing for Quân to come closer.

"Let's just leave it at that for now. I feel like even if I explain a lot to you, there's nothing you can do about it anyway. So, here."

From the bushes, Ron pulled out dozens of different textbooks, all numbered from 1 to 6, implying books for grade 1 to grade 6. Aside from those, there were dozens of notebooks tossed aside without a single word written in them.

"Pretty basic stuff, but enough to let you know which path you should take."

"…When did you even prepare all this?" Quân asked Ron, completely dumbfounded.

"From an old disciple of mine. He doesn't need them anymore. Actually, he never used them anyway, so he hid them here hoping I wouldn't find them."

Having said that, Ron pulled a lighter from his pocket and tossed it to Quân.
